The U.S. is showing a lack of understanding - or honesty

Douglas Hagmann points out that America locked herself into the specious claim that Islam is a peaceful religion right after 9/11. Not only is this contrary to fact, but it forces America's political leaders such as Condoleezza Rice to invent all sorts of secular reasons for Islamic terrorism. Misdiagnosis doesn't lead to proper treatment. And it doesn't win wars. Winning "requires moral clarity and honesty about the enemy we are fighting.
