Kristillnact, 1938

Folks, everyone knows about Munich, September 1938. What happened? Britain and France generously donated a big slice of Czechoslovakia to Hitler, in exchange for "peace with honor," "peace in our time".

What followed? Kristillnacht - in November of 1938. What caused Kristillnact besides the irrational hatred of Jews?

Appeasement.

Appeasement doesn't merely fail to prevent catastrophe, it provokes catastrophe.

King David made the city of Jerusalem his capital. Mohammed had never been to Jerusalem.

In the Jewish Bible, Jerusalem has many names: Salem (Shalem), Moriah, Jebuse (Yevuse), Jerusalem (Yerushalayim), and Zion (Tziyon). The most common term for the city, Yerushalayim, is mentioned 349 times in the Jewish Bible, while Tziyon is mentioned an additional 108 times.

The earliest mention of the site is Genesis 4:18, when Abraham interacts with Malchizedek, King of Shalem. According to Jewish tradition the story of the Binding of Isaac (Genesis 22:1-19) also takes place in the "land of Moriah" on the site of the present-day Temple Mount. Abraham chooses the site specifically because he sensed how God's presence is strongly connected to this site.

When Jews pray three times a day, they always turn toward Jerusalem. Jerusalem is mentioned numerous times in Jewish daily prayers and in the "Grace After Meals." Jews close the Passover Seder with the words "Next Year in Jerusalem." These same words are invoked to conclude the holiest day of the Jewish year, Yom Kippur. The Jewish national day of mourning, Tisha B'Av, commemorates the destruction of the First and Second Temples. During a Jewish wedding ceremony, the groom breaks a glass as a sign of mourning to commemorate the destruction of the two Temples which stood on Mount Moriah. The breaking of the glass is accompanied by the recitation of part of Psalm 137. Some religious Jews often keep a small section of one wall in their house unplastered and unpainted, as a sign of mourning for the destruction of the Temple.

For most of Islam's 1,400-year period, despite its status as the third holiest Islamic city, Jerusalem remained a backwater, run-down town under Islamic control. Exceptions were during both the Umayyid period (7th to mid-8th century) and the Mamluk period (mid-13th to early-16th century), when major Islamic building projects were carried out in the city.

It is worth noting that the inaugural PLO Covenant of 1964 does not mention Jerusalem. Only after the city fell back to Jewish control did the updated PLO Covenant of 1968 mention Jerusalem by name.

For all of these reasons, I refuse to bow down to the mythology of Islam and its canard that Jerusalem is holy to Muslims.

May G-d Forgive the Israeli government for giving Holy Jewish Land away to Muslim apostates, May G-d Forgive Muslims and their appeasers for participating in the spirit of Jihad and forcing the rest of the world to endure the trumped-up concoction of superstitions and deceit which is Islam and May G-d Forgive the world for investing in the pretense that Islam is more than terrorism, rioting, the death of free speech and artistic expression, homophobia, Jew-hatred, female genital mutilation, limb amputation, gang rape, stoning to death for victims of gang rape, hanging underage girls from cranes in public parks, and for killing, killing and killing innocent Jewish babies, women and men.

"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest Joy." -- Psalm 137.
In Israeli Ambassador Chaim Herzog's response To 'Zionism Is Racism' Resolution to the General Assembly of the United Nations on November 10, 1975, he said this about Kristillnacht:
"This was the night in 1938 when Hitler's Nazi storm-troopers launched a coordinated attack on the Jewish community in Germany, burned the synagogues in all its cities and made bonfires in the streets of the Holy Books and the Scrolls of the Holy Law and Bible. It was the night when Jewish homes were attacked and heads of families taken away, many of them never to return. It was the night when the windows of all Jewish businesses and stores were smashed, covering the streets in the cities of Germany with a film of broken glass which dissolved into the millions of crystals which gave that night its name. It was the night which led eventually to the crematoria and the gas chambers, Auschwitz, Birkenau, Dachau, Buchenwald, Theresienstadt and others. It was the night which led to the most terrifying holocaust in the history of man."
One organization called "Synagogue Memorial," is dedicated to memorializing all the houses of prayer that were destroyed on the infamous Kristallnacht, November 9-10, 1938 in Germany.

The official German position on the nights of rioting and murder, which were orchestrated by Goebbels, was that they were spontaneous outbursts. Goebbels reported "that such demonstrations are not to be prepared or organized by the party, but so far as they originate spontaneously, they are not to be discouraged either." (Conot, Robert E. Justice At Nuremberg. NY: Harper & Row, 1983:165)

Three days later, on November 12, Hermann Goering called a meeting of the top Nazi leadership to assess the damage done during the night and place responsibility for it. Present at the meeting were Goering, Goebbels, Reinhard Heydrich, Walter Funk and other ranking Nazi officials. The intent of this meeting was to make the Jews responsible for Kristallnacht and to use the events of the preceding days as a rationale for promulgating a series of antisemitic laws which would, in effect, remove Jews from the German economy.

An interpretive transcript of this meeting is provided by Robert Conot, Justice at Nuremberg, New York: Harper and Row, 1983:164-172):
Goering announced, 'Gentlemen! Today's meeting is of a decisive nature,'announced. 'I have received a letter written on the Fuehrer's orders requesting that the Jewish question be now, once and for all, oordinated and solved one way or another.'

'Since the problem is mainly an economic one, it is from the economic angle it shall have to be tackled. Because, gentlemen, I have had enough of these demonstrations! They don't harm the Jew but me, who is the final authority for coordinating the German economy. `If today a Jewish shop is destroyed, if goods are thrown into the street, the insurance companies will pay for the damages; and, furthermore, consumer goods belonging to the people are destroyed. If in the future, demonstrations which are necessary occur, then, I pray, that they be directed so as not to hurt us.

'Because it's insane to clean out and burn a Jewish warehouse, then have a German insurance company make good the loss. And the goods which I need desperately, whole bales of clothing and whatnot, are being burned. And I miss them everywhere. I may as well burn the raw materials before they arrive.

'I should not want to leave any doubt, gentlemen, as to the aim of today's meeting. We have not come together merely to talk again, but to make decisions, and I implore competent agencies to take all measures for the elimination of the Jew from the German economy, and to submit them to me.'

It was decided at the meeting that, since Jews were to blame for these events, they be held legally and financially responsible for the damages incurred by the pogrom. Accordingly, a "fine of 1 billion marks was levied and 6 million marks paid by insurance companies for broken windows was to be given to the state coffers. (Snyder, Louis L. Encyclopedia of the Third Reich, New York: Paragon House, 1989:201).
The night ushered in a new phase in the antisemetic activities of the Nazi state, leading to the deportation and the extermination of most of the Jewish people living in Germany.

This night began the horror of the Holocaust. And I still cry writing about it, 68 years later.

Two murderous covenants: the PLO Covenant and the Nazi Covenant

Received by email, with much gratitude, from reader Karl Huttenbauer:

This chart, a comparison between the Nazi and PLO Covenants, was published 25 years ago in the Canadian Jewish Herald - Oct.1980 (publisher Dan Nimrod z"l).

One year later saw publication of 'On A field of Red' - the Comintern and the coming of World War II' (Putnams 1981) which revealed that (three years prior to the appearance of Hitler's 'Mein Kampf') the American Military Attache in Germany, CaptainTruman Smith, secured a 1922 audience with Adolf Hitler in Munich. The outcome of that encounter is enshrined in an extraordinary report - breathtaking for its insight.

Hitler insisted that the 25 articles of the Nazi 1920 Covenant were the 'dogma of our faith and the rock upon which the Party was built'. Captain Smith, disturbed by Hitler's anti-semitism and the ominous language of Article 4 (see below -"None but those of German...No Jew...may be a member of the nation") concluded that 'Hitler intended to perform a radical surgical operation on the Jews and remove them totally from German lebensraum.

The British response to this murderous plan was its 1922 decision to bar Jews from the eastern part of the Mandated Territories, namely the expansive, uninhabited desert of the trans Jordan (in short declare it 'Judenrein'). In the meantime the USA buried Colonel Smith's intelligence: determined to stay aloof from the 'petty affairs' of EurAsia until the day it was to receive its twin wake-up 'calls' - Hirohito's 'Pearl Habor' & 'Hitler's Declaration of War'.

America's cavalier treatment of Colonel Smith's real time intelligence led (inter alia) twenty years later to the Holocaust. Likewise, the unintelligent treatment by Beilin, Clinton, Peres and Co., (a dozen years or so after Dan Nimrod's real time intelligence) saddled Israel with Arafat and Oslo.

Today (after Hamas's election victory) Israel and the West is once more confronted by a genocidal covenant, the Hamas Covenant -http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/mideast/hamas.htm
endorsed by the Mad Mahdi of Teheran.

The question is - will the Jews (for the third time) be beguiled to forgo real-time intelligence and once more succumb to commu-nazi psywar propaganda intended to wear down their resistance to Hitler's Heirs?

The Four Entities of Palestina-Eretz Yisrael

Submitted by reader Karl Huttenbauer, Berlin:

The Palestinian National Covenant was first promulgated in 1964 (when the West Bank was under Hashemite rule) wherein Article 2 "defines Palestine as an indivisible territorial unit within the boundaries it had during the British Mandate 1920 including Trans-Jordan" ( East Bank). In plain words - Jordan is Palestine (first entity)!

Since the removal of Jews from the Gaza Strip this purely Arab [Hamas] (second entity) could be transformed into a seperate, thriving City State (of Singapore or Hong Kong type - an idea bad-mouthed by Khaled Mashal on 'Al-Jazeera'.

On the West Bank (located between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea) exists an established (fourth entity) recognized by all civilized nations as the State of Israel, which includes amongst its citizenry “1.3 million Arabs” who (compared to many sectors of the Jewish population) enjoy a higher standard of living - the envy of Arab kinsmen throughout 'the Region'.

Adjoining it is an autonomous (third Arab entity) the Palestinian Authority witha Legislative Council dominated by Islamists whose program (just like that ofthe PLO Charter) wants 'Jews Raus'.

Summary

The Territory of the British Mandate supports Four Entities for Two Peoples:

Three of which have absolute Arab majority and no Jews. The fourth entity(Israel) has a Jewish (Hebrew) majority with a very large Arab minority harboring elements of irredenta.

Thus the Quartet Mantra of Two States for Two Peoples is a Chimera.

Ethnic cleansing is indeed progressing in Dar al Islam but certainly not of Arabs.

Readers are invited to organise petitions condemning the ongoing slaughter of innocent Jews in the Land of Israel.

FATAH (AL-FATAH)

URL : http://www.fateh.net/e_public/constitution.htm

-- Terrorist group founded by Yasser Arafat in early 1960s, prior to 1967 Six Day War.

-- Dedicated to annihilating Israel

Fatah, or al-Fatah, was established in about 1959 by Yasser Arafat.

The organization’s name is a reverse acronym standing for Harakat Al-Tahrir Al-Watani Al-Filastini (“the Movement for the National Liberation of Palestine”). As a word, "Fatah" in Arabic means "conquest by means of jihad [Islamic holy war]." From its inception, Fatah’s overriding objective, as expressed in its original Covenant, was to bring about the annihilation of Israel. (Notably, this Covenant explicitly disavowed any interest in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which were then under the control of Jordan and Egypt, respectively. Only in 1968, after Israel had taken control of these regions following its victory in the Six Day War, was the Covenant amended to demand the establishment of a Palestinian State on the entire territory of the nation of Israel.)

With the backing of Syria, in 1965 Fatah began carrying out dozens of terrorist raids each year against Israeli civilian targets, launching these attacks from Jordan, Lebanon and Egyptian-occupied Gaza. By 1969, Fatah had grown into the largest constituency of Yasser Arafat's multiparty confederation, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and was under Arafat's direct control.

In the 1960s and the 1970s, Fatah provided training to numerous European, Middle Eastern, Asian, and African rebel and terrorist groups. Fatah was supplied with weaponry during this period by the Soviet Union, the Communist states of eastern Europe, and Communist China.

When Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 (as a means of combating Arab terrorist groups that were using the region as a launching pad for artillery attacks against northern Israeli towns), Fatah members based in southern Lebanon dispersed to several Middle Eastern countries, among them Tunisia, Yemen, Algeria, and Iraq. From 1982 to 1993, Fatah’s leadership was based in Tunisia.

Today Fatah defines as its principal goal the achievement of the "complete liberation of Palestine, and eradication of Zionist economic, political, military, and cultural existence." According to Fatah, this objective is not to be accomplished by peaceful means; nor does it allow for Israel’s continued existence: “Armed public revolution is the inevitable method to liberating Palestine. … [T]he Palestinian Arab People's armed revolution is a decisive factor in the liberation fight and in uprooting the Zionist existence, and this struggle will not cease unless the Zionist state is demolished and Palestine is completely liberated." Candidly opposed to "any political solution offered as an alternative to demolishing the Zionist occupation in Palestine," Fatah has made its organizational emblem a grenade and crossed rifles, superimposed on a map of present-day Israel. Fatah’s military arm, Tanzim, is funded by the Palestinian Authority and has played a leading role in Palestinian violence in recent years.

Fatah enumerates as the "Essential Principles" of its Constitution the following tenets, among others:

--Palestinian struggle is part and parcel of the worldwide struggle against Zionism, colonialism and international imperialism.

--Liberating Palestine is a national obligation which necessities the materialistic and human support of the Arab Nation.

--UN projects, accords and reso[lutions], or those of any individual which undermine the Palestinian people's right in their homeland, are illegal and rejected.

--The Zionist Movement is racial, colonial, and aggressive in ideology, goals, organization and method.

--The Israeli existence in Palestine is a Zionist invasion with a colonial expansive base, and it is a natural ally to colonialism and international imperialism.

--Liberating Palestine and protecting its holy places is an Arab, religious, and human obligation.

Fatah currently has "Observer Party" status at the Socialist International.

Myths and Facts

MYTH: "Israel created Hamas."

FACT: Israel had nothing to do with the creation of Hamas. The organization grew out of the ideology and practice of the Islamic fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood movement that arose in Egypt in the 1920s.

Hamas was legally registered in Israel in 1978 as an Islamic Association by Sheikh Ahmad Yassin. Initially, the organization engaged primarily in social welfare activities and soon developed a reputation for improving the lives of Palestinians, particularly the refugees in the Gaza Strip.

Though Hamas was committed from the outset to destroying Israel, it took the position that this was a goal for the future, and that the more immediate focus should be on winning the hearts and minds of the people through its charitable and educational activities. Its funding came primarily from Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

The PLO was convinced that Israel was helping Hamas in the hope of triggering a civil war. Since Hamas did not engage in terror at first, Israel did not see it as a serious short-term threat, and some Israelis believed the rise of fundamentalism in Gaza would have the beneficial impact of weakening the PLO, and this is what ultimately happened.

Hamas certainly didn't believe it was being supported by Israel. As early as February 1988, the group put out a primer on how its members should behave if confronted by the Shin Bet. Several more instructional documents were distributed by Hamas to teach followers how to confront the Israelis and maintain secrecy.

Israel's assistance was more passive than active, that is, it did not interfere with Hamas activities or prevent funds from flowing into the organization from abroad. Israel also may have provided some funding to allow its security forces to infiltrate the organization. Meanwhile, Jordan was actively helping Hamas, with the aim of undermining the PLO and strengthening Jordanian influence in the territories.

Though some Israelis were very concerned about Hamas before rioting began in December 1987, Israel was reluctant to interfere with an Islamic organization, fearing that it might trigger charges of violating the Palestinians' freedom of religion. It was not until early in the intifada, when Hamas became actively involved in the violence, that the group began to be viewed as a potentially greater threat than the PLO.

The turning point occurred in the summer of 1988 when Israel learned that Hamas was stockpiling arms to build an underground force and Hamas issued its covenant calling for the destruction of Israel. At this point it became clear that Hamas was not going to put off its jihad to liberate Palestine and was shifting its emphasis from charitable and educational activity to terrorism. Israel then began to crack down on Hamas and wiped out its entire command structure. Hamas has been waging a terror war against Israel ever since.

May G-d forgive us all

The most dreaded news I could imagine, my worst nightmare, has come true: Ehud Olmert's Kadima party revealed yesterday it would divide Jerusalem and allow a Palestinian state to be established in parts of Israel's "eternal capital."
"The Old City, Mount Scopus, the Mount of Olives, the City of David, Sheikh Jarra will remain in our hands, but [regarding] Kafr Akeb, Abu-Ram, Shuafat, Hizma, Abu-Zaim, Abu-Tur, Abu Dis, in the future, when the Palestinian state is established, they will become its capital," said Otniel Schneller, a Kadima member who represented the party at a debate yesterday on dividing Jerusalem.
There is no ethical or religious basis behind sharing Jerusalem.

This grievous announcement is the final aim of the Muslims and their appeasers to islamize Jerusalem which in turn, undermines the legitimacy of Judiaism and Christianity, both which observe Jerusalem to be a holy city.

The mythical holiness of Jerusalem to Muslims always was and still is no more than a politically motivated holiness. The Muslim claim to Jerusalem is FALSE!

Mohammed could never have had the Al Aqsa mosque in mind when he compiled the Koran, since it did not exist for another three generations after his death. At the time of Mohammed, who died in 632 AD, Jerusalem was a Christian city within the Byzantine Empire. Jerusalem was captured by Khalif Omar only in 638 AD, six years after Mohammed's death. Throughout all this time there were only churches in Jerusalem, and a church stood on the Temple Mount, called the Church of Saint Mary of Justinian, built in the Byzantine architectural style.

In or around 711 AD, or about 80 years after Mohammed died, Abd El-Wahd - who ruled from 705-715 AD - reconstructed the Christian- Byzantine Church of St. Mary and converted it into a mosque. He left the structure as it was and added a dome on top of the building to make it look like a mosque. He then
named it El-Aksa, so it would sound like the one mentioned in the Koran.

Have you ever asked why Muslims turn their back on Jerusalem in prayer? Because Jerusalem does not hold any sanctity for Muslims.

More recently, Jerusalem first was divided into eastern and western sections when Jordan invaded and occupied Jerusalem and the Old City in 1947, expelling all Jewish inhabitants. Israel built its capital in the western part of the city, while the eastern quarters remained under Jordanian control until Israel captured it, along with the Old City, in 1967 after Jordan's King Hussein ignored Israeli pleas for his country to stay out of the Six Day War.

During the 19 years of Arab sovereignty, the ancient Jewish Quarter of the Old City was ravaged, 58 synagogues – some centuries old – were destroyed and slum dwellings were built abutting the Western Wall.

Jews were not allowed to visit their holy places and Israeli Christians were subjected to many restrictions, with only limited numbers allowed to visit the Old City and Bethlehem at Christmas and Easter.

Folks, everyone knows about Munich, September 1938: Britain and France generously donate a big slice of Czechoslovakia to Hitler, in exchange for "peace with honor," "peace in our time". What followed? Kristillnacht, in November, 1938.

May G-d Forgive the Israeli government for their pronouncement, and Muslims and their appeasers for participating in the spirit of Jihad and forcint the rest of the world to endure the trumped-up concoction of superstitions and deceit which is Islam and for investing in the pretense that Islam is more than terrorism, rioting, the death of free speech and artistic expression, homophobia, Jew-hatred, female genital mutilation, limb amputation, gang rape, stoning to death for victims of gang rape, hanging underage girls from cranes in public parks, and for killing, killing and killing innocent Jewish babies, women and men.

"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest Joy." -- Psalm 137.

Palestinians elect Mahmoud Abbas

Mahmoud Abbas was elected Palestinian Authority president Sunday.

Here's what he said on June 11, 1998:

On the Palestinian Covenant:

"...The [Palestinian] National Council did not vote to annul
the [Palestinian] Covenant, but rather announced its
readiness to change the Covenant under certain terms. If the
terms are met, it will be amended. Otherwise, the Covenant
will remain as is. The Covenant has yet to be changed, and
this is better understood by the enemy than by our own
people...."

--- Secretary General of the Arab Liberation Front Mahmoud
'Abbas, otherwise known as Abu 'Abbas. The Israel-PLO
Accords of 1993 required the Palestinian National Council
to amend the Covenant, which calls for Israel's destruction,
with no further conditions attached.

Yassir Arafat, 1929-2004: a biography of the Muslim terrorist

HonestReporting's biography, with links to important sources.

EARLY LIFE

It's ironic that the man who personified the Palestinian movement was neither born in the region it claims, nor conforms to his own organization's definition of Palestinian identity. Yassir Arafat, whose real name is Abdel-Rahman Abdel-Raouf Arafat al-Qudwa al-Husseini, was born in August 1929 in Cairo, son of an Egyptian textile merchant. He was sent to Jerusalem as a small child after his mother died, then returned to Egypt via Gaza.

Throughout his career, Arafat's Egyptian background was a political impediment and source of personal embarrassment. One biographer notes that upon first meeting him in 1967, 'West Bankers did not like his Egyptian accent and ways and found them alien,' and to the very end Arafat employed an aide to translate his Egyptian dialect into Palestinian Arabic for conversing with his West Bank and Gaza subjects.

As a young man, Arafat took no part in the formative experience of the Palestinian movement ― the 1948 Arab-Israeli war ― but he would nonetheless claim refugee status throughout his life: 'I am a refugee,' he cried out in a 1969 interview, 'Do you know what it means to be a refugee? I am a poor and helpless man. I have nothing, for I was expelled and dispossessed of my homeland.' (Arafat's congenital lying would continue for decades.)

FATAH AND THE PLO

In the mid-1950s, Arafat joined the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, then rose to the head of the Palestine Student Union at the University of Cairo. In the late 1950s Arafat moved to Kuwait,

where he co-founded Fatah ('Palestine National Liberation Movement' ― an acronym meaning 'conquest'), the faction that would later gain control over the entire Palestinian movement. Fatah's motley ranks of Islamists, communists and pan-Arabists expanded via brute violence. 'People aren't attracted to speeches, but rather to bullets,' Arafat quipped at this stage. (At right: Fatah logo of rifles and grenades over Israel)

Fatah began military-style training in Syria and Algeria in 1964, and the following year tried unsuccessfully to blow up a major Israeli water pump. Fatah's stated goal was the obliteration of the State of Israel, and well before the 1967 war would supply a pretext, Arafat's organization repeatedly attacked Israeli buses, homes, villages and rail lines.

This violence against Israeli civilians was a pillar of the Palestinian National Covenant (the foundational charter of the Palestinian Liberation Organization - PLO), which states that 'the liberation of Palestine will destroy the Zionist and imperialist presence' and that 'armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine and is therefore a strategy and not a tactic.' (Despite repeated Palestinian commitments in the late 1990s to annul these sections of the covenant, it was never officially changed.)

Arafat's public profile got a boost in 1968, when the IDF raided a Fatah terrorist stronghold in the Jordanian village of al-Karameh. The uniformed,
keffiyah-clad Arafat took this opportunity to project himself as a fearless Arab leader who, despite the post-Six Day War gloom, dared to confront the Israelis. The image stuck, and Fatah's numbers swelled with new recruits.

Arafat and Fatah consolidated power through bribery, extortion and murder, and at the Palestinian National Congress in Cairo in February 1969, Arafat was appointed head of the PLO― a position he would never relinquish.

JORDAN, LEBANON AND TUNISIA

By the late 1960s, heavily-armed, Arafat-led Palestinians had formed a terrorist 'state within a state' in Jordan, not only attacking Israeli civilian targets, but also seizing control of Jordanian infrastructure.

The tension reached a height during late 1970, when Jordan's King Hussein cracked down on the Palestinian factions. During this bloody conflict, known as 'Black" September', Palestinians hijacked four Western airliners and blew one up on a Cairo runway (pictured at right), to both embarrass the Egyptians and Jordanians and, in their words, 'teach the Americans a lesson for their long-standing support of Israel.' With the broad publicity this generated, Arafat had hit the world stage.

When King Hussein drove Arafat's faction out of his Jordanian kingdom (causing thousands of civilian deaths), they relocated in Lebanon. As in Jordan, Arafat soon triggered a bloody civil war in his previously stable host country. Simultaneously, the PLO launched intermittent attacks on Israeli towns from southern Lebanese positions.

Yassir Arafat then brought the high-profile terrorist act to western soil. In Sept. 1972, Fatah-backed terrorists kidnapped and murdered 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympic games. And in 1973, Arafat ordered his operatives in the Khartoum, Sudan office of Fatah to abduct and murder US Ambassador Cleo Noel and two other diplomats. (In 2004, the FBI finally opened an official investigation against Arafat for the Khartoum murders.)

The wanton violence fueled Arafat's political goals, as his presence on the world stage grew: In 1974, he became the first representative of a nongovernmental organization to address a plenary session of the UN General Assembly (pictured at left) In the speech, with a gun holster strapped to his hip, Arafat compared himself to George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Arab heads of states declared the PLO the sole legitimate representative of all Palestinians, the PLO was granted full membership in the Arab League in 1976, and by 1980 was fully recognized by European nations.

In 1978-82, the IDF invaded Lebanon to root out PLO groups that had continually terrorized the northern Israeli populace. The U.S. brokered a cease-fire deal in which Arafat and the PLO were allowed to leave Lebanon; Arafat and the PLO leadership eventually settled in Tunisia, which remained his center of operations until 1993.

During the 1980s, Arafat received financial assistance from Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, which allowed him to rebuild the battered PLO. This was particularly useful during the first Palestinian intifada in 1987 ― Arafat took control of the violence from afar, and it was mainly due to Fatah forces in the West Bank that the anti-Israel terror and civil unrest could be maintained. Arafat would then become nearly the only world leader to support Saddam Hussein in the 1991 Gulf War. (Saddam would later repay this loyalty by sending $25,000 checks to families of Palestinian suicide bombers.)

THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY

In the early 1990s, the U.S. led Israel and the PLO to negotiations that spawned the 1993 Oslo Accords, an agreement that called for the implementation of Palestinian self-rule in the West Bank and Gaza Strip over a five-year period. The following year Arafat was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize along with Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin.

In 1994, Arafat moved his headquarters to the West Bank and Gaza to run the Palestinian Authority, an entity created by the Oslo Accords. Arafat brought with him from Tunisia an aging PLO leadership that would bolster his ongoing monopoly over all Palestinian funds, power and authority. Elections in 1996 extended Arafat's control over the PA, but under the Oslo agreement, the term of that candidacy ended in 1999. Arafat never allowed new elections to take place.

While Israel went about implementing its side of the Oslo agreements ― removing troops from nearly all Palestinian areas, recognizing the PA, and educating for peace ― the PA utterly failed to live up to its commitment to renounce and uproot anti-Israel terrorism. Instead, unprecedented incitement from Arafat's official PA media and school textbooks, and active and passive PA support for terrorist groups led to a string of suicide bombings in the mid-1990s that killed scores of Israeli civilians. In October, 1996, at the height of the Oslo years, Arafat cried out to a Bethlehem crowd, 'We know only one word - jihad! Jihad, jihad, jihad! Whoever does not like it can drink from the Dead Sea or from the Sea of Gaza.' [For more on the failure of Oslo, see HonestReporting's documentary film,http://www.blogger.com/Camp between Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. There, Barak offered Arafat a Palestinian state in Gaza and 92% of the West Bank, and a capital in East Jerusalem― the most generous offer ever from an Israeli government. Yassir Arafat rejected the offer and ended negotiations without a counteroffer. As American envoyDennis Ross concluded, 'Arafat could not accept Camp David... because when the conflict ends, the cause that defines Arafat also ends.' [See alsothis interview with Ross on Oslo.]

Immediately following this breakdown, the PA media machine under Arafat's control ramped up the war rhetoric, and preparations were made for riots that were unleashed following Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount. The Arafat-supported 'al" Aqsa intifada' would continue for four years. This unprecedented wave of anti-Israel terrorism, which would result in over 1,000 Israeli deaths, was marked by over 120 Palestinian suicide bombers and the growth of an Islamic martyrdom cult.

This stage of violence revealed that Arafat and the PA had never abandoned their longstanding plans to liquidate the Jewish state. Arafat had told an Arab audience in Stockholm in 1996, 'We plan to eliminate the State of Israel and establish a purely Palestinian state. We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare and population explosion... We Palestinians will take over everything, including all of Jerusalem.' Likewise, Arafat explained to a South African crowd in 1994 that the Oslo agreement was merely a tactical ruse in the larger battle to destroy the Jewish state ― a modern version of the Muslim prophet Mohammed's" trickery against the ancient tribe of Quraysh. Arafat's colleague Faisal al-Husseini was even more explicit, describing the Oslo process as a 'Trojan Horse' designed to promote the strategic goal of 'Palestine from the [Jordan] river to the [Mediterranean] sea' ― that is, a Palestine in place of Israel.

TERRORIST TO THE END

The final phase in Arafat's life-long commitment to organized terror was channeled through the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, a Fatah group that was responsible for many of the most deadly attacks against Israeli civilians between 2000-2004. Though many media outlets described a mere 'loose affiliation' between Arafat and this terrorist group, the evidence clearly indicated a direct financial and organizational bond between the two:

▪ In November, 2003 aBBC investigation found that up to $50,000 a month was funneled by

An ammunition bill for the terrorist Al Aqsa Brigade, signed by Yassir Arafat - see larger version

Fatah, with Arafat's approval, directly to the Al Aqsa Brigades, for the purpose of organizing bombings, snipings and ambushes against Israeli civilians.

▪Documents captured by the IDF in 2002 indicated Fatah's 'systematic, institutionalized and ongoing financing' of the Al Aqsa Brigades. (See Arafat's signature on the weapons budget, and this full report from Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.)

▪ The leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades in Tulkarm told USA Today on March 14, 2002: 'The truth is, we are Fatah, but we didn't operate under the name of Fatah...We are the armed wing of the organization. We receive our instructions from Fatah. Our commander is Yasser Arafat himself.'

In addition, Arafat granted free rein to the radical Islamic terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad to perpetrate dozens of horrific acts of civilian murder between 2000-2004. [At left: Arafat with Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin, 2003]

DELEGITIMIZATION

In January 2002, the Israeli Navy seized a Gaza-bound, PA-owned freighter ― the Karine A― that was loaded with more than fifty tons of Iranian ammunition and weapons, including dozens of surface-to-surface Katyusharockets. (See more on the Karine A.)

In June 2002, upon recognizing Arafat's ongoing financing and abetting of terrorism, U.S. President Bush called for Arafat's removal from power. Progress toward peace required, according to Bush, 'a new and different Palestinian leadership...not compromised by terror.' Release of a U.S.-backed 'road" map' for settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was therefore delayed until such a new Palestinian leader emerged. On its part, the Israeli government chose to isolate Arafat in his Ramallah compound, the 'Muqata', where he would remain from early 2002 until his final days, and where his burial is expected to occur.

In April 2003, hours after Mahmoud Abbas assumed the role of Palestinian prime minister, the official road map was released and diplomatic progress began. But Arafat consistently undercut the authority of Abbas, leading to Abbas' resignation and the halting of the road map peace process.

CORRUPTION, AUTOCRACY, JIHAD

Over the course of his 'revolutionary' career,Arafat siphoned off hundreds of millions of dollars of international aid money intended to reach the Palestinian people.

Estimates of the degree of Arafat's wealth differ, but are all staggering: In 2003, Forbes magazine listed Arafat in its annual list of the wealthiest 'Kings, Queens and Despots,' with a fortune of 'at least $300 million. 'Israeli and U S officials estimate Arafat's personal holdings between $1-3 billion.

And while the average Palestinian barely subsisted, Arafat's wife Suha (at left) in Paris received $100,000 each month from PA sources as reported on CBS' 60 Minutes. That CBS report also noted that Arafat maintained secret investments in a Ramallah-based Coca Cola plant, a Tunisian cellphone company, and venture capital funds in the U.S. and the Cayman Islands.

Arafat also used foreign aid funds to pay off cronies who bolstered his autocracy: An International Monetary Fund report indicated that upwards of 8% ($135 million) of the PA's annual budget was handed out by Arafat 'at his sole discretion.' And Arafat's select PA policemen, far from keeping the peace, were repeatedly among the suicide bombers and snipers.

Money was just one method of strengthening Arafat's power apparatus. Critics of his PA government were routinely imprisoned, tortured or beaten. One example: In 1999, Muawiya Al-Masri, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, described Arafat's corruption to a Jordanian newspaper. For this, he was attacked by a gang of masked men and shot three times. Al-Masri survived the ordeal and described Arafat's grip on PA power: 'There is no institutional process. There is only one institution ― the Presidency, which has no law and order and is based on bribing top officials.'

From 2000-2004, Arafat permitted Muslim imams to incite unprecedented anti-Israel and anti-American violence from their mosques and through official PA media. Arafat's Religious Affairs Ministry employed preachers who regularly called for children to 'martyr themselves', and PA television glamorized the act of suicide bombing.

Under Arafat, the Palestinian Authority school textbooks denied Israel's very existence, and jihad was presented to Palestinian children as an admirable course of action. The Jewish people, meanwhile, was represented to schoolchildren as a tricky, greedy and barbarous nation.

Freedom of the press was virtually non-existent during Arafat's reign in Gaza, Jericho and Ramallah ― if it didn't speak favorably of Arafat, it didn't get printed in the PA-controlled media. Moreover, the PA enacted a systematic policy of intimidation of foreign journalists. One case among many: When an AP cameraman captured footage of Palestinian street celebrations following the 9/11 attacks, he was kidnapped, brought to a PA security office, and Arafat's cabinet secretary threatened that the PA 'cannot guarantee [his] life' if the footage was broadcast.

Yet beyond the terrorism, extortion, embezzlement and intimidation lies Arafat's most unfortunate ongoing impact: The inculcation of murderous values in an entire generation of Palestinians, who have been educated ― under Arafat's direction ― to continue the fight of jihad against Israel, rather than compromise to end the decades-long conflict.

How many generations will it take to undo Arafat's dark legacy?

Syria And 'The Jew'

Examples of Anti-Semitism in the Arab and Muslim World

The Syrian régime (both under the late President Hafiz al-Assad and his son and heir, Bashar) has always been infected with anti-Semitism, expressed not only in statements made by Bashar Assad but also by the frequent use of anti-Semitic references in the controlled Syrian media and culture. An anti-Semitic book about the Damascus blood libel (See below), called The [Passover] Matzo of Zion , was published in Syria during the reign of Hafiz Assad and written by Mustafa Tlass, the Minister of Defense. It has been reissued many times and has never gone out of print.

In Syria, anti-Semitic books , newspaper articles, cartoons and television shows appear regularly. In general they are inspired by classic Christian-European anti-Semitism . The anti-Semitic “products” are exported to the entire Arab and Muslim world; the two closest target audiences are in Lebanon and the Palestinian Authority-administered territories.

The Syrian educational system is riddled with anti-Semitism. A study carried out by The (Israeli) Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace (CMIP) in Jerusalem of 68 textbooks 1 used in the 11 th and 12 th grades in all subjects did not find one single pro-Jewish statement. The Jewish religion, according to the books, is racist , and the Jews are portrayed as having always been enemies of the Arabs , of Islam , of the entire human race, of the prophets and of God . Therefore, according to the textbooks, the worldwide hatred for the Jews is justified, and the Holocaust, whose extent the Jews exaggerate, was also justified. These themes appear not only in high school text books but also in the Syrian printed and electronic media and in speeches of Bashar Assad. The books examined were used in Syrian schools during the 1999-2000 school year.

Bashar Assad, though educated in a Western higher educational institute (in England), has made anti-Semitic statements. The most blatant was uttered during the Pope's reception in Damascus:

"We hear how they [the Israelis] kill the principle of equality even as they
speak of Allah's having separated them from the other nations of the world. We
see them damaging the Christian and Muslim holy places in Palestine. They
desecrate the mosque of Al-Aqsa, the Church of the Sepulcher [Jerusalem] and the
Church of the Nativity [Bethlehem]. They attempt to destroy all the principles
of the monotheistic religions for the same reasons they betrayed and tortured
Jesus, and for the same reasons they tried to kill the prophet Muhammad.”
--(Bashar Assad to the Pope on May 5, 2001, reported by Radio Damascus).
Anti-Semitic books are regularly published in Syria. One of the most barefaced was written by Mustafa Tlass, the Syrian Minister of Defense , and called The [Passover] Matzoh [unleavened bread] of Zion ; it was published while Hafiz Assad was president. The book, which details the 1840 Damascus blood libel is still a best seller.

The Damascus blood libel (1840) refers to the story of a Capuchin monk from Sardinia who disappeared in Damascus with his Muslim servant. The Christian community in Damascus, incited by the local French consul, accused the Jews in the city of killing the monk and using his blood in religious rituals. The local Ottoman governor arrested seven respected Jews and ordered them to be tortured. Two died and one converted to Islam to save his life. The British demanded the release of the remaining four, who were eventually released. The exploitation of this affair for propaganda purposes will be mentioned again in the section dealing with Jordan.

In the book's introduction Mustafa Tlass notes that the anti-Semitic blood libel has contemporary importance because the Jewish religion is full of “destructive perversions” and “dark hatred for all of humanity and all other religions.” Therefore, all Arab countries are absolutely forbidden to sign peace treaties with Israel – that was the fatal mistake of [the late Egyptian president] Anwar Sadat, who “sold his country to Satan.”

According to the October 22, 2002 edition of the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Hayyat , the book enjoyed great popularity at the international book fair held in Damascus , at which 38,000 books were exhibited. A source at the Tlass Publishing House for Research and Translation told an Al-Hayyat reporter that the book's popularity was the result of “the younger generation's desire for information about the Jews [to learn] how they wronged and ill treated the Arabs and [sometimes] others , [and what] their motives were for killing non-Jews .”

In view of the great demand for the book, the eighth (!) Arabic edition was subsequently translated into other languages, including English , French and Italian . Mustafa Tlass promised that every new edition would contain an extra chapter or document which would shed light on the Jewish distortions of the Torah and on the criminal practices of the Jewish religion . He said the additions would be based on the words of Allah and quoted from the relevant verses of the Qur'an.

The International Court of Justice and the Crimes of the Rulers of Israel, a book pamphlet.

Author : Zafir bin Khadhra', Esq. (Legal counsel to the PLO, resides in Syria and is a member of the Palestinian national council; has expressed objections to the peace process)
Publisher : Dar Kan'an lil-Dirasat wal-Nashr wal-Tawzi', Damascus
Date of publication : 2001

The book preaches hatred for Israel, the Zionist movement and the Jewish people with added “ legal justification ”.

The first prominent feature of the book is its cover , which depicts Ariel Sharon, Israel's current prime minister, as looking “ typically Jewish ,” ugly and bloodthirsty (on his face and skull are bloodstains and a list of acts of slaughter); he is shown as behind bars. The illustration uses the familiar tactics of the Nazi publication, Der Stûrmer : The Jew is presented as ugly and evil with exaggerated, easily recognizable racial characteristics. That is done to de-legitimize him and his rights, to demonize him, to make him an automatic object of hatred and to prepare the ground for physical assault on and annihilation of the Jews as a whole.

The International Court is a propaganda pamphlet dedicated to “the heroes of the intifada” written “to prove to the world and the Arab and Muslim nations that Sharon and those in power with him [in Israel] are merely transitory and can be replaced, while Arab Palestine will remain forever… ” (p. 8). According to the foreword by Salim al-Za'nun, Chairman of the Palestinian National Council , the book presents material which will serve the International Court as grounds to indict Ariel Sharon, the Israeli prime minister, and other important Israelis, of committing war crimes against the Palestinians.

The book was written by a lawyer and has legal pretensions , but it merely an exposition in anti-Semitism and hatred for the Zionist movement. The introduction compares the figure of “ the ancient Zionist murderer ,” a legacy of the Old Testament, to “ the new Zionist murderer .” He accuses Israel, Zionism and Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon of “crimes against humanity and genocide which are no less than the crimes committed by the Nazis .”

The Talmudic Perception – The Jewish View of the World

The Talmudic Perception was written by ‘Abd al-Majid Hammu , and is one of a series of anti-Semitic works by the same author. A review in the October 26, 2003 Internet edition of Al-Thawra, a government-affiliated Syrian newspaper, stated that the book exposed the Talmud's profound hatred for the world. It is the result, said the reviewer, of the distinction the Talmud makes between the Jews, as the chosen people, and the non-Jews, who are described as unclean animals created to live under Jewish rule. The Talmud serves the Jews, according to the article, as a source of inspiration for Zionist ideology, and teaches racism and hatred for non-Jews and humanity at large. It relates to non-Jews as animals created in the form of men whose only purpose is to serve the Israelites day and night and to praise the name of Israel .

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion – the Syrian interpretation

The following excerpts come from an article in Al-Ba'ath, the Syrian establishment newspaper (Internet edition, May 10, 2002). It was entitled “ An investigation of Zionist ideology proves that Zionism is merely racism .” The author, Wahhib Saraj al-Din based his “investigation” on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion and claimed that they clearly reflect Zionist ideology:

“This racism, which is worse than Hitler's, is derived from Zionist ideology,
and particularly from the Old Testament and the Talmud. One Zionist book
which reflects the extreme hatred the Jews feel for all humanity is The
Protocols of the Elders of Zion . The book is well known and studied,
however it must be continually rewritten (sic). Anyone who reads the book
immediately realizes he is reading ideas which are aggressive and
frightening, empty of morality and humanitarianism.”
“ This book contains within itself a message of hatred and hostility toward
mankind while desiring to control its resources. Actually, that is the sum
total of Zionism's barbaric legacy . Inhuman Zionist ideology is conspiring
to destroy the world, and to exploit and influence it to further its own
[selfish] interests.”
“The book [ The Protocols ] is made up of 24 chapters written and edited by the
members of the first Zionist Congress, which was held in Basle in 1897 and led
by Theodore Herzl. There were 300 rabbis present, all of whom sanctioned the
plan to take over and enslave the world . Their motto was ‘Judaism above all
alse'. The participants chose the snake as the symbol of the Zionist movement… ”
The article then analyzes The Protocols which, it claims, show the Jews conspire to “destroy all other religions,” “enslave all other nations” and “destroy world economy.” That is to be done by causing strife, inculcating distorted values, misleading the younger generations, and by the use of aggression, wars and hatred causing death, poverty, famine, disease and alcoholism.

According to an article in Al-Ba'ath published on April 28, 2003, the Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament) and the Talmud preach hatred of humanity. In accordance with Judaism's racist perception of the world, states the article, [non-Jewish] people are [no better than] animals and should be killed and gotten rid of . The Jews wrote the Talmud because [for them] “a dog is better than a foreigner [non-Jew]. A Jew may feed a dog on a holiday, but not a foreigner [non-Jew]. Meat should be given to a dog because it is better than [a foreigner].” The Jews claim Allah told them that “the more they killed non-Jews the closer they would be to
God…”

Holocaust denial and the identification of Zionism with Nazism : excerpts from “The connection between Zionism and Nazism,” a program broadcast by Radio Damascus on May 9, 2002.

“The documents published regarding the connection between Zionism and Nazism are
factual and reveal one of the historical lies which have aided Zionism and
Israel throughout their career… The connection refutes all the claims and lies
of Zionism and the leaders of the Zionist occupation [of Palestine] that the
Nazis persecuted the Jews. If such persecution did exist, it was done in
accordance with a contract signed by the Zionist leaders and the Nazis to force
Zionists to emigrate to Palestine.”

“Many scholars have gone further and asserted that Hitler was a disciple of Zionist terror and that despite his cleverness he was incapable of surpassing his [Zionist] tutors, who obsessively
searched for the racist laws which would permit destruction and murder. [The Zionists] leafed through [Hitler's book] Mein Kampf to find support for their racist ideology and to distort historical and geographical Arab facts.”
According to a Radio Damascus commentator, incitement to commit acts of violence and destruction is a theme running through the Old Testament and the Talmud and is the basis for the "Zionist entity" [the State of Israel]:

“The Zionist entity was established on a series of religious and political
claims which are empty of meaning and have no historical basis . The Zionist
aspirations are terrorist and racist, and are in favor of discrimination, racism
and the collective liquidation of all non-Jews. They are rooted in the Old
Testament and in the Talmud , which regard the Jews as God's chosen people.
Zionist racism stems from Jewish ideas which are replete with violence,
vengeance, discrimination, feelings of superiority… The Old Testament teaches
its believers that the Jews' only hope is the annihilation of all non-Jewish
peoples … The Talmud calls for all nations to be bent to the will of the Jews…
Incitement to commit acts of violence and destructions are the leitmotif running
through the Old Testament and the Talmud. The Old Testament and the Talmud fuel
the terrorism , racism and tendencies to plunder and murder found among Jewish
intellectuals and politicians… Zionism is worse than Nazism …” ( Radio Damascus
, April 21, 2002)
According to the Syrian daily establishment newspaper Teshreen , the Zionist entity is artificial, incidental, racist and feeble, and will eventually cease to exist:
“They, the Jews, have always lived in a closed socio-religious environment and
are a parasite on the body of the culture which gives them refuge. Extremist
Zionist-Israeli society, by means of killing, terrorism and deportation,
constructed itself on conquered Palestinian lands as an artificial entity . The
real danger threatening Israel comes from the same harsh ideological
contradictions on which it was founded. It is an artificial entity, extremist
and feeble …which was established as a result of [an international] decision on
Arab lands to which people who have nothing binding them together were brought…
[and it] exists by virtue of foreign money and stolen treasures, and on the
logical foundation of cheap political blackmail… It is racist in the extreme and
based on a hostile philosophy… [of] expansion and colonization, rejection of the
rights of others, cold-blooded murder …History cannot secure [to such] a Fascist
racist entity…the conditions for [its] continued existence ” ( Teshreen , June
16, 2002).
According to an article by Dr. Bashir Khalaf which appeared on the Teshreen Internet site, the Jews stole the Canaanite and Babylonian heritage :

“The documents [which were discovered during the excavation of an Ugaritic city
in 1929]… proved that the beliefs found in the Torah were plagiarized from
ancient oriented Arab Mesopotamia. What the Jewish sages added was the aspect
called “divine,” which separated [Jewish] men from their brothers and the
cultures of humanity by means of a racist ideal devised by them … The Jewish
presence in the Land of Canaan included groups whose livelihood was based on
theft and which tried to destroy Canaanite culture… The first theft was the
Canaanite language … It is possible that their contact with the Canaanites might
have made them more humanitarian, but apparently their mental, emotional and
social makeup prevented them from entering the framework of Middle Eastern Arab
cultural life … The Torah claims that Solomon wrote a thousand poems and
composed three thousand proverbs. However, in fact most of them belonged to the
Middle Eastern, Canaanite, Babylonian and even Egyptian traditions . It is
written in Samuel II that [King] David danced before the Ark of the Covenant…
The dance was part of a Canaanite agricultural rite” ( Teshreen Internet site,
July 6, 2002).
