Anti-Semitism at the University of California, Irvine
Regardless of the facts, empirical historical and archaelogical evidence that Jews have righteously returned to their indigenous homeland, Muslims at the University of California, Irvine, specifically the Muslim Student Union (MSU), a virulently anti-Semitic and anti-American student group, hold several programs which unabashedly support terrorist groups and unjustly denounce Israel, America, and the Western world. MSU events have featured speakers like Norman Finkelstein, Ward Churchill, Muhammad al-Asi and Amir Abdel Malik Ali, and have had titles such as "Hamas: the People's Choice" and "Israel: The 4th Reich."
Out of all the MSU’s speakers, al-Asi has the most lurid personal history. A former Air Force Officer, al-Asi became radicalized by the 1979 Iranian Revolution, and is an avid admirer of the late Ayatollah Khomeini. In 1983, he was removed from his position at the Islamic Center in Washington D.C. for being too radical, and since then, he preaches his hateful message in front of the very same mosque to passers-by. Al-Asi also makes regular trips to Iran to meet hard-line officials, and as reported by the Washington Post, is under constant surveillance from the United State’s government.
Over the past several years there have been a growing number of reports from Jewish and non Jewish students at The University of California, Irvine (UCI) alleging anti-Semitism on campus and biased treatment by certain University officials. These allegations are summarized as follows:
1. Jewish students have been subject to physical and verbal harassment because they are Jewish and support Israel;
2. Hate speech, both direct and symbolic, is directed at Jews by speakers and demonstrators;
3. An annual week-long event sponsored by the Muslim Student Union is an anti-Semitic hate fest targeting Israel and Jews using lies and propaganda dating back to the anti-Semitism of the Middle Ages;
4. Speakers who are pro-Israel and/or those who condemn speakers who espouse anti-American and anti-Israeli views are subject to disruptive behavior by Muslim students and their supporters;
5. Jewish students claim they are subject to a hostile class environment by faculty members who adopt an anti-Israel bias;
6. Materials contained in certain Middle-East Studies courses are biased and are indicative of a “leftist” orthodoxy that characterizes this area of study;
7. The UCI administration is not responsive to complaints by Jewish students.
8. Jewish students complain of a “double standard” when the administration enforces campus rules and regulations.
Muslims also conveniently forget that those who have the privilege of living in the United States enjoy rights of Freedom of Speech under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as further interpreted by the United States Supreme Court.
Any proscription of speech or an attempt to force anyone to stop speaking as they choose, even if it is hate speech, is unacceptable.
Presidents and Chancellors of public colleges and universities have an obligation to establish an environment for education at their institutions; that the values of that institution in the search for truth should represent the values of our democratic society such as tolerance for a diversity of opinions and beliefs and respect for the individual.
Education at colleges and universities takes place both within the classroom and outside the classroom.
Therefore, student affairs administrators and academic administrators are not bystanders to the education process.
Administrators are also democracy’s guardians of acceptable behavior in the academy. This includes ensuring civil discourse within the academy.
Administrators must aggressively condemn behaviors, including speech that threaten an individual’s well being, denigrate an individual’s ethnic, religious, or racial identity, or blame a religious or ethnic group for criminal activity.
Public colleges and universities are a public trust and therefore must be held accountable to the public through the Board of Regents and the campus administration.
Citizens can also hold institutions accountable by supporting or withholding support for the University either through direct contributions and/or through the support or nonsupport of public funding measures.
Although the university has the moral obligation to speak out against hateful speech directed at a portion of the student body, they have made it clear they are going to avoid commenting on the issue or ensuring a safe campus environment. At the very least, administrators need to uphold the rights of all students and make certain civil liberties are maintained rather than selectively enforcing regulations.
An independent task force investigation recently issued findings that clearly suggest anti-Semitism, anti-Americanism, and pro-terror speech is well documented at UC Irvine. The full report can be read here.

Durban Watch Alert: Israel-Bashing at Intergovernmental Working Group
Israel-bashing agenda emerges as substantive discussion of Durban II gets underway in the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group
On May 27, 2008 states negotiating the substance and procedure of the Durban Review Conference/Durban II revealed the anti-Israel agenda in the first "non-paper" outlining issues intended to be discussed.
The non-paper was released in Geneva during the first meeting of the "Intersessional open-ended intergovernmental working group to follow up the work of the Preparatory Committee for the Durban Review Conference."
Under the subject "Victims of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance", the "victims identified" by an intergovernmental working group include "the Palestinian people under foreign occupation." The paper suggests that the "vulnerability" of Palestinians "is connected to racial or ethnic distinction from the occupying power."
In other words, Palestinians are victims of Israeli racism. This is the recast UN formulation of the 1975 General Assembly resolution declaring 'Zionism is racism'.
Durban II is intended to implement the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action adopted on September 8, 2001 and that Declaration included a statement singling out Israel as guilty of racism against Palestinians.
Leading the effort to once again isolate Israel, and demonize the Jewish state as racist, are Iran and Egypt. In the section "Other contemporary forms of racism as reported by different countries" Iran pointed to "the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, which constitutes a violation of a wide range of civil and political rights." As part of "Strategies to achieve full and effective equality, including…mechanisms in combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance" Egypt insisted that "…Other issues to be addressed include…foreign occupation."
The Durban II agenda should ring other alarm bells for democratic societies, as the non-paper declares a clear assault on the freedom of expression under the guise of combating alleged Islamophobia. Here are some of the issues and suggestions now on the table:
"Permissible limitations on the exercise of the right to freedom of expression should be codified." "the need to draw up a code of conduct" for journalists
"define the threshold for legitimately restricting freedom of expression in order to protect the victims."
"the imbalance between the defence of secularism and respect for freedom of religion"
"the ideological pre-eminence of freedom of expression."
In the meantime, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the African regional group - now controlled by the OIC and its spokesperson Egypt - are running circles around the European Union. On the first day of the session of the intergovernmental working group, for example, Egypt spoke more than four times as often as any other state. The German delegate remarked: "I find it quite ironic that our Egyptian colleague was insisting that he wants to be heard, when he was the person that talked most - all the time - here this morning; he has delivered a headline for this meeting which is en attendant l'Egypt [pending Egypt]."

Israelis Don't Hold Street Parties When Innocent Palestinians Lose Their Lives
On Thursday, a 25-year-old palestinian resident of eastern Jerusalem took an assault rifle and entered a Jewish religious school in western Jerusalem, where he shot dead seven teenagers and one young man aged 26. This was an attack not on a military or political target but on a group of young men peacefully studying holy texts at a religious school. Much is often made of the fact that innocents die on the palestinian side, as well, and in far greater numbers. The key difference is that Israelis target those who fire rockets into Israel. Israelis also don't hold street parties to display happiness when innocent palestinian civilians lose their lives. While Abbas may publicly denounce the seminary attack, there are many palestinians who seem to welcome such tactics. The international road map to peace has long called on the palestinians to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure, but - as can be seen - support for terrorism is still deeply ingrained.

Arabs pressure Bush to observe Nabka
Arab states are demanding that the U.S. clarify the purpose of a planned return trip by President Bush to Israel in May to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel, the UAE-based Al-Khalij newspaper reported Sunday. Arab states have communicated their disappointment to the Americans over the plan, which also marks the 60th anniversary of what Palestinians call the Nakba, the "catastrophe."

Muslims don't want peace
Muslims politically identify with other Muslims, which is why there has been a resounding silence in the global Muslim community, where there should have been resounding global condemnation. The silence from the global Muslim community, including the silence from the terrorist front group CAIR, implies tacit approval to kill Jews and tacit approval to assassinate the President of the United States.PA security officials expressed concern over threats by Palestinian groups to kill Bush.
"We are taking these threats very seriously," a senior PA security official told The Jerusalem Post. "We have taken several precautionary measures to foil any attempt to target Bush or to disrupt his visit."
Another PA security official accused Hamas of being behind most of the threats against the US leader. "Hamas has turned the Gaza Strip into a safe haven for numerous terrorist groups," he said. "All these groups are operating there under the auspices of Hamas."

The pathology of palestinianism presented in Art
Bethlehem residents have painted over a satirical mural by the graffiti artist Banksy that was meant to highlight their plight. The British artist had painted six images around the town to help drum up tourism before Christmas.
But the irony behind the depiction of an Israeli soldier checking a donkey's identity papers was lost on some residents, who found it offensive.

The pathology of palestinianism
The Hamas-dominated Palestinian Legislative Council Thursday passed a law that makes any concessions on Jerusalem illegal and defines such concessions as a crime of high treason. Many Fatah legislators made it known that they too support the law, which states that Jerusalem is a Palestinian, Arab and Islamic city. The new law still requires the approval of Mahmoud Abbas, said Ahmed Bahar, acting speaker of the PLC. The law is intended to embarrass Abbas and ties his hands on the eve of the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations on core issues, including the future status of Jerusalem. Hamas officials said Abbas would have no other option but to endorse the law.
