Poll: Israelis Say West Bank Is "Liberated," Not "Occupied"

Changing the lexicon restores truth to the Middle East narrative. From Poll: Israelis Say West Bank Is "Liberated," Not "Occupied":
In its latest monthly peace index survey for March 2008, Tel Aviv University's Steinmetz Center for Peace Research found that, by a wide margin, the majority of Israeli Jews view the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) as "liberated" rather than "occupied" territory. The researchers noted that, "We were surprised to discover that even though, over the years, the concept of 'occupation' has become more common both in the political discourse and the media, today a majority of the Jewish public defines the West Bank as 'liberated territory' (55%) and not as 'occupied territory' (32%)." By a margin of 57% to 23%, more than 2-1, Israeli Jews oppose a return to the pre-1967 borders.

Poll: Israelis Oppose Jerusalem Concessions

From Poll: Israelis Oppose Jerusalem Concessions:

71% of Israelis oppose a peace deal that would entail handing over Jerusalem's Old City and Temple Mount to the Palestinians, according to a new poll released by the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies on Sunday.

56% believed that any part of Jerusalem handed over to the Palestinians was "likely" or "very likely" to serve as a base for terrorist acts against Israel.

"The public feels that the Palestinians are after more than the Old City in Jerusalem, and fears that they will continue to attack Israel even if a deal over the city is reached," said BESA Center Director Prof. Efraim Inbar.

Poll: Palestinians Support Rocket Attacks and Want Peace Talks to End

You couldn't get better data than what you get straight out of the palestinians own mouths to prove that the Muslim barbarians don't deserve their own state, especially when it would be on land they stole from the legitimate and sovereign nation of Israel. From Poll: Palestinians Support Rocket Attacks and Want Peace Talks to End:
A new poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research shows that an overwhelming majority of Palestinians - 84% - support the attack this month on a Jewish seminary in Jerusalem that killed eight young men, most of them teenagers. The survey also shows that 64% support the firing of rockets on Israeli towns from Gaza and 75% support the end of peace negotiations between Palestinian and Israeli leaders. The poll also showed that the militant Islamist group Hamas is gaining popularity in the West Bank while its American-backed rival, Fatah, is losing ground.

Poll: Israeli Arabs prefer remaining Israeli citizens over PA citizenship

Sent by Dr. Aaron Lerner, co-founder and director of IMRA (Independent Media Review & Analysis):

Poll Methodology
Representative sample 514 Israeli Arabs Over 18 years old
Phone calls: 3-5 Dec. 2007
+ - 4.5% margin of error.
KEEVOON Research, Strategy & Communications.
www.keevoon.com

Question: There has been a lot of talk lately about the formation of a new Palestinian State. It has been suggested by some that Israeli Arabs could continue to live in Israel, but change their citizenship to the new Palestinian State. Given the choice, and continuing to live where you presently live today, would you prefer to be a citizen of Israel or of a new Palestinian State?

Remain Israeli citizens 62%
Join a future Palestinian State 14%
No opinion or refused to answer 24%

The strongest support for remaining citizens of Israel was exhibited by members of the Druse community, 84% of whom would choose Israel. Lower income households also showed strong support with 71% of them choosing Israel. Men were more likely than women to choose to remain Israeli citizens (67% vs. 56%). The strongest support for becoming citizens of a future Palestinian State was among students with 21% as opposed to the average of 14%. The largest percentage of undecided citizens was among Christian Arab Israelis with 43% compared to the average of 24%.

Poll: Most Israelis Want Olmert To Quit

Support for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has hit new depths with the results of a poll by a major surveying firm that shows 55 percent of the public wants him out of office. The poll was carried out by Brain Base (Ma'agar Mohot) and sponsored by the Israel Policy Center for Promoting Parliamentary Democracy and Jewish Values in Israeli Public Life. More than three-quarters of new immigrants responded that Prime Minister Olmert should be replaced, while most Kadima supporters want him to remain in office.

Previous polls have showed that he would fare poorly if new elections were held, but none of the surveys had asked respondents if he should leave office.

Almost two-thirds of the respondents also stated they oppose massive demolitions of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Prime Minister Olmert Tuesday night told officials of the Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria (Yesha) that the land in those areas is an "integral part" of Jewish history and identity, but he concluded that most of it should be surrendered.

300,000 Supporters of Suicide Attacks in America

From Robert Spencer via FrontPageMagazine:

Some of the results of the Pew Research Center poll of Muslims in America were startling: twenty-six percent of Muslims between the ages of eighteen and twenty-nine affirmed that there could be justification in some (unspecified) circumstances for suicide bombing, and five percent of all the Muslims surveyed said that they had a favorable view of Al-Qaeda. Given the Pew Center’s estimate of 2.35 million Muslims in America, and the total of thirteen percent that avowed a belief that suicide bombings could ever be justified, that’s over 300,000 supporters of suicide attacks. And 117,500 supporters of Al-Qaeda.

It is unfortunate that the Pew Center pollsters were not equipped with a follow-up question for those who expressed support for suicide bombing, asking them about the circumstances in which they would consider it justified, and whether they would ever consider it justified in the United States. As columnist Diana West has noted: “the fact that a significant young chunk of American Islam believes such violence has a place in society indicates something closer to the end of unfettered political opinion. It may signal the beginning of physical coercion as a factor in the American political process.” The pollsters might also have asked those who professed support for Al-Qaeda whether they were working or would be willing to work to further that organization’s goals in the United States – but perhaps that kind of question shades too far over into what law enforcement officials should be doing.

In any case, the implications of this poll are far-reaching. Yet virtually no one is dealing with those implications. The mainstream media generally reported the poll results as indicating that the overwhelming majority of Muslims rejected extremism and were comfortably assimilated into American society, without dealing in detail with those troubling minorities. Headlines in major newspapers included “Poll: Most Muslims seek to adopt American lifestyle”; “Poll: US Muslims Feel Post-9/11 Backlash Despite Moderate Outlook”; “Muslims assimilate better in U.S. than Europe, poll finds”; “U.S. Muslims more content, assimilated than those abroad”; and “Pew Study Sees Muslim Americans Assimilating.”

How to End "Islamophobia"

From How to End "Islamophobia":
According to a recent Pew Global Attitudes survey, one out of every four American Muslims under 30 think suicide bombing in defense of Islam is justified. If, as the Pew study estimates, there are 2.35 million Muslims in America, that means there are a substantial number of people in the U.S. who think suicide bombing is justified. Similarly, if 5% of American Muslims support al-Qaeda, that's more than 100,000 people. To bring an end to Islamophobia, it is imperative to adopt new Islamic teachings that do not allow killing apostates. Islamic authorities must provide mainstream Islamic books that forbid polygamy and beating women. Muslims should teach, everywhere and universally, that a woman's testimony in court counts as much as a man's, that women should not be punished if they marry whom they please or dress as they wish.

Poll Finds U.S. Support for Israel Soaring

Eat your heart out, Ibrahim Hooper. From Poll Finds U.S. Support for Israel Soaring:
American public support for Israel in the face of its enemies is at a five-year high, a poll found. A new survey commissioned by the Israel Project showed that an average of 66 percent of Americans rate their feelings toward the Jewish state as "warm" or "very favorable," while 11 percent gave Iran a positive rating. Asked about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, 65 percent of respondents said they support Israel, while 10 percent said they support the Palestinians. About three-quarters of those polled said the United States should not resume sending aid to the Palestinian Authority until the Hamas-led government "ends the culture of hate" and recognizes Israel.

Poll: Americans want PA to recognize Israel

A majority of Americans think Palestinians must acknowledge Israel's right to exist before they can have their own state, a recent poll commissioned by the Israel Project found. Though a large contingent believes in a two-state solution, 60% believe "there should not be a Palestinian state until Palestinian leaders end terror and recognize Israel's right to exist." 50% said they support Israel in the conflict, compared to 7% backing the PA. The poll also found that 73% of Americans favor international sanctions on Iran, even if it might lead to a 20% rise in gas prices. 71% believe that violence in the Middle East stems from clashes between moderates and extremists, compared to 18% who believe the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the main cause.

Anti-jihad, economic ideas to share

Hugh Fitzgerald, the excellent writer and analyst at JihadWatch writes:
There are three things that amount to the equivalent of December 7, 1941 in this war-without-end in which we are now engaged. This war began earlier, but was not marked by one spectacular attack. The Jihad had fallen over the past two centuries into desuetude only because of Muslim weakness, and has now been revived when three things occurred to make Muslims believe that they could now go for broke and achieve superiority over their permanent, because non-Muslim, enemies.

These three things were:

1) the past, present, and continuing OPEC oil revenues, which since 1973 have amounted to ten trillion dollars.

2) the tens of millions of Muslims permitted by heedless elites everywhere to enter and settle and make themselves at home in Infidel countries, all over the Bilad al-kufr, behind what they are taught to regard as enemy lines.

3) the exploitation by Muslims of Western advances in technology, such as audiocassettes (so useful to Khomeini in 1978-79), videocassettes, satellite television (Al-Jazeera, Al-Manar, and others), and the Internet, on which all those Muslim websites preach the faith, inveigle the Spiritual Searchers, and offer videos of decapitation of Infidels that apparently are such a useful recruiting tool for the cause of Jihad.
In response, a JihadWatch reader asks "Does anyone have any anti-jihad, economic ideas to share?".

The following are some excellent responses from JihadWatch readers:
Yep, quite a few [ideas]:The website http://divestterror.org/ is proposing a campaign to target 401(k) retirement plans, pension plans, and all stock investments generally, to disinvest from companies that do business with terror-supporting states.

The worst of the list include such names as Alcatel, Siemens, and Hyundai:
http://divestterror.org/dirtydozen.html

The public pension plans of many of the states of the U.S. are also invested in such companies, and we should urge our elected representatives to disinvest from those companies:

http://divestterror.org/report.html
Another reader has some more ideas:
Hugh's first point about oil money fueling the renewal of the jihad is very important. To counter this, we can all make our own little spending decisions to promote or oppose those we agree with or disagree with just as the enemy attempts to do with its boycotts.

How about turning the gas down on your hot water heater to the point where it is hot enough for a good shower and not so hot that it can scald you or it wastes energy every minute by heating you tank more than necessary. And turn it lower if you go on vacation.
Another reader suggests:

Another general idea is to challenge the imposition of Sharia Law, for example: Ban the Veil (and all public mask wearing)
Another reader answers:
I have plastic on my insullated windows, I keep my thermostat at 60 night and 65 day, I layer my clothing, I wash my laundry in cold water and I even put foam plug insullators in my outlets. I take warm showers and I try to make all my driving trips at once, avoiding any unnecessary trips. I do NOT buy my gas from Citgo.
Another reader offers this idea:
Islam is the preferred religion at the Canadian Broadcasting Company (to the exclusion of all others). It receives preferential treatment; it's being constantly promoted. The CBC is owned by the Canadian public -- it has a mandate from Parliament (it's not supposed to be a government propaganda machine). Protest to the owners of pro-Islam American and Canadian television stations.
Another reader writes:
Here is an idea. Write to Frank Wu, the Dean of Wayne State University Law School and tell him not to hire Waddie Said for the WSU faculty.

Here is some background.http://www.standwithus.com/news_post.asp?NPI=1029

Waddie Said is the son of the late fake Palestinian Edward Said. Waddie was part of the defense team for Sami al Arian and is unqualified for a position as a law professor on academic grounds and also as an Islamist supporter and appologist.
Another reader suggests:
A great idea for action is to start a small Anti-Jihad Militia and let your local media know that you're doing it. Take a few pics. Get on a local new broadcast. That's just sensational enough that it might get some airplay. Letting the American people see their neighbors in fatigues talking about the imminent threat of jihad ought to wake some people up. There are two Anti-Jihad Militia chapters in operation right now. antijihadmilitia.blogspot.com
Another reader says:
Print out chapter 9 of the Koran and put it where others can pick it up. Not just your "favorite" verses but the whole chapter so it can't be said that it is "out of context." If you are going to put it in books at the library don't just put it in the Koran. Put it in the best sellers, too. Especially the ones that liberals read.
Another reader suggests:
Post a list of all U.S. Senators and Congressmen who have take donations from terrorist apologists or their front groups. And a list companies that have terrorist apologists as principles, major stockholders or who hire an inordinate number of immigrants from terrorist-sponsoring states. Even a list of companies which are majority owned by Saudis or sheiks from the UAE would be very helpful. There is no such list anywhere, and we need it NOW so the public can be informed.
Folks, get on board. In the meantime, read this poll from the BBC that asks the question, How big is the economic contribution of immigrants?

Educated Palestinians Leaving PA

Driven by fear of civil war and increasingly bleak economic prospects, Palestinians are fleeing their violence-wracked neighborhoods in growing numbers. Many are skilled and educated, and are leaving behind an increasingly impoverished and fundamentalist society. The brain drain reverses a trend of the 1990s when, fueled by peace hopes, thousands of well-to-do Palestinians returned from the diaspora to the West Bank and Gaza, building homes and setting up businesses. More than 20 factories have moved out of Gaza in recent months.

Some 10,000 Palestinians emigrated between June and October and another 45,000 have made preparations to leave, said Ahmed Suboh, a Palestinian Foreign Ministry official. A recent poll indicated that the number of young Palestinians willing to leave if given a chance has jumped from 25% to 44% over two years. Two popular destinations for Gazans are Canada and Cuba. Those with tourist visas to Cuba often get off in transit at a European airport.

Poll Shows Naivete in Canada: 31 Percent Blame Israel for 9/11 Attacks

Via Vital Perspective. Heads up on this interesting poll:

New Poll Shows Naivete in Canada: 31 Percent Blame Israel for 9/11 Attacks

According to a poll by the Montreal-based Association for Canadian Studies (ACS), 38 percent of Quebecers think 9/11 was at least partly the result of Israel's actions in the Middle East, the highest of any region of Canada. Overall, 31 percent of all Canadians hold the same opinion. When Quebec responses are deducted from the national total, about 27 percent of the rest of Canada think Israel's actions in the Middle East were a "primary cause" of 9/11.

In addition, the great majority of Quebecers, more than three-quarters – well above the Canadian average of 63 percent – believe the 9/11 attacks were also at least in part caused by U.S. foreign policy. An equal proportion of Quebecers and Canadians as a whole, about two-thirds, said a primary cause of 9/11 was a reaction of Islamic fundamentalism against the West.

"I was astonished by the results," said ACS director Jack Jedwab. "I knew there was a lot of naivete out there, but not this much."

Quebecers also think relations between Jews and Christians and between Jews and Muslims in Canada have deteriorated since the war in Lebanon. There was no change in attitudes to Muslims, who are viewed in a positive light by just over half of those polled. Sixty-nine percent of Quebecers have a positive opinion of Jews, down five percent from a similar survey taken July 11 to 16, when the war was just beginning. Jews are most highly regarded by the young, ages 18 to 24 (81 percent), and those whose annual household income is between $40,000 and $60,000 (76 percent). The groups with the least favorable opinion of Jews are between the ages of 55 and 64 (56 percent).

Britain is now biggest security threat to US

Britain now presents a greater security threat to the United States than Iran or Iraq, an American magazine said yesterday.

In an article on Islamists headlined "Kashmir on the Thames", the New Republic painted Britain's Muslim communities as a breeding ground for violent extremism.

Citing recent opinion poll evidence suggesting that one in four British Muslims believed that last year's London Tube bombings were justified, the magazine said: "In the wake of this month's high-profile arrests, it can now be argued that the biggest threat to US security emanates not from Iran or Iraq or Afghanistan, but rather from Great Britain, our closest ally."
