Abbas Cancels Gaza Trip over Hamas Assassination Plot

How bad could the assasination of Abbas be considering this barbarian, who is posing as a moderate leader of "thepalestinianpeople", engineered the murders of the Israeli athletes in the Munich Olympics in 1972. He would have gotten what he deserved if someone blew a chunk out of his brain. From Abbas Cancels Gaza Trip over Hamas Assassination Plot:
Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas canceled a trip to Gaza on Thursday after it was discovered that militants from Hamas planned to blow up his convoy, a senior security official said. "Abu Mazen's (Abbas') visit to Gaza was canceled after the discovery of a tunnel under Salaheddine Road full of explosives placed by the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigade to blow up (Abbas') convoy," said the official. "The explosives were found on the route that Abu Mazen takes to travel to Gaza," the source added.

Bush Gets Green Light to Help Fund Palestinian Security Forces

From Bush Gets Green Light to Help Fund Palestinian Security Forces:
The U.S. will provide $59 million in aid to boost security forces loyal to Mahmud Abbas after members of Congress dropped their objections to the deal, officials said Tuesday. $43 million would go to train and equip the Palestinian Presidential Guard, which answers directly to Abbas, and another $16 million would be spent to improve security and infrastructure at the main cargo crossing between Israel and Gaza. A State Department official said strict controls would be placed on the aid and that "none of this assistance will benefit Hamas or other terrorist organizations."
Folks, you did you know that Mahmoud Abbas is also the same person as Abu Mazen, the engineer of the "Black September" Terror Attack during the Munich Olympics, which killed 11 Israeli athletes and a U.S. citizen ?

I'm sure the State Department knows.

Ancient lies no basis for a policy

Via JWR.
Two seemingly unrelated events in the waning days and hours of 2006 pretty much summed up everything you need to know about the Arab-Israeli conflict.Their meaning can be characterized simply: The Arab world's obsession with eradicating the State of Israel and the West's willingness to deceive itself about the character of Arab leaders and their intentions both are based on lies.

The more famous of the two events was the hanging of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. In his final moments before he got his just desserts, the doomed Iraqi once again played the card that he and other Arab despots have always used with impunity: Israel.

Thus, among his finalcomments on the gallows came this declaration: "Palestine is Arab!"

Why invoke this cause with his last breath? Because even at that moment he still
thought it worth a try to deflect discussion of his comeuppance to that of the
conflict with Israel.

Another event that was received with far less fanfare took place only days before Hussein's death. It was the release of a 33-year-old classified document by the United States State Department. It confirmed what had long been rumored: that the late Palestinian Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat personally ordered the murders of two kidnapped American diplomats in March 1973.

Members of a PLO-front group called "Black September gunned down the two, Cleo Noel, U.S. ambassador to Sudan, and the embassy's Charge d'Affaires George Moore, along
with Guy Eid, a Belgian envoy, in cold blood." The supposed separate identity of
the group —which was also responsible for the 1972 massacre of 11 Israeli
Olympic athletes in Munich — from that of Arafat's Fatah was a cover
story intended to separate the Palestinian mainstream from its more egregious
crimes
.

Arafat denied any role in these murders to the day of his own death in 2004. Though he was the godfather of modern terror, he sought to burnish his mythical image as a statesman to the West. But this was nothing compared to the self-deception of Western governments who knew better, particularly the employers of Noel and Moore, the United States State Department.

They Dare Call It Treason (Finally)

Finally. Via FrontPage, a magazine which is always on the leading edge of righteousness:
In a stunning reversal of United States policy that has been in place since the end of World War II, turncoat citizen Adam Gadahn has been indicted for the constitutional crime of treason. (The second count of the indictment charges him with the crime of providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.)

Eight treason indictments and convictions of Americans came out of World War II. One resulted from mistreatment of prisoners of war held in Japan. Two arose from spying activities in the United States. Four, including a case against the infamous Axis Sally, were for making propaganda broadcasts on behalf of the Nazis. The fifth was for similar broadcasts by the equally infamous Tokyo Rose.

All eight indictments and convictions were based on Article III, Section 3, Paragraph 1, of the Constitution of the United States: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or, in adhering to their Enemies, giving them aid and comfort."

The "aid and comfort" prong of treason has been interpreted by the Supreme Court of the United States to require proof of four elements:

1. an intent to betray the United States (which can be inferred from);
2. an overt act;
3. witnessed by two people; and
4. that provides aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States.

After World War II, a notorious example of treason was Jane Fonda’s 1972 trip to Hanoi. As Erika Holzer and I proved conclusively in our "Aid and Comfort": Jane Fonda in North Vietnam, Hanoi Jane was indictable for, and could have been convicted of, treason because of her activities. Regrettably, Fonda was not indicted because of political calculations made at the highest level of the Nixon administration—just as other kinds of political reasons since 1972 prevented treason charges from being brought against a host of other traitors since then. For example, charges other than treason were brought against Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, Navy spies in the Walker family, renegade CIA and FBI agents Aldrich and Miller, and Taliban John Walker. And, as of today at least, no charges of any kind have been leveled against The New York Times and other newspapers for their treasonous exposure of three highly secret government programs that served as integral parts of America’s war against Islamic terrorists.

Homemade Genocide in the Muslim World

From Homemade Genocide in the Muslim World:

Dozens of publications and websites are dedicated to the purpose of portraying Israel as a state that ceaselessly perpetrates war crimes. The tragedy is that in Arab and Muslim countries a massacre is happening that has no connection to Israel, Zionism, or Jews. It is a genocide of mainly Arabs and Muslims, by Arabs and Muslims.

In Algeria between the years 1954-1962, the French (who do not stop preaching to Israel) killed nearly 600,000 Muslims. In addition, the civil war begun in the 1990s has claimed 100,000 victims so far.

In Sudan, a civil war during 1955-1972 claimed 500,000 victims. In recent years fighting there has claimed between 200,000 and 600,000 victims. In Afghanistan, the Soviet invasion, which began in 1979 and ended in 1989, left about a million dead. Since 1977 Somalia has been immersed in an unending civil war with the number of victims estimated at about 550,000.

When Bangladesh aspired to gain independence from Pakistan, Pakistan reacted with a military invasion during which one to two million people were systematically liquidated in 1971.

In Indonesia, the biggest Muslim state in the world, as many as 400,000 were killed in 1965-1966 after a communist uprising. After East Timor announced its independence from Indonesia, Indonesia invaded and during 1975-1999 about 100,000 to 200,000 people were killed.

In the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-1988, between 450,000 and 650,000 Iraqis, and between 450,000 and 970,000 Iranians were killed. During Saddam Hussein's reign in Iraq, between 200,000 to 300,000 Kurds were killed in a genocide throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In 1991-1992, between 40,000 and 200,000 were killed in a Shiite uprising in Iraq. An estimated 100,000 people have been killed since the coalition forces took control in Iraq in 2003.

In the Lebanese civil war in 1975-1990, 130,000 were killed. In the civil war in Yemen in 1962-1970, 100,000 to 150,000 were killed. In Chechnya since 1994 there have been 80,000 to 300,000 fatalities. From Jordan to Zanzibar, there have been smaller confrontations that have cost the lives of tens of thousands of Muslims and Arabs, killed by Muslims and Arabs.

What would have happened to the Palestinians if they were under Iraqi occupation? Or Sudanese? Or even French or Soviet? The genocide that Israel is not committing hides the real genocide, the silenced genocide that Arabs and Muslims are committing mainly against themselves.

Muslims celebrate

So the Muslims are celebrating. That's very typical of Arab/Muslim hubris. Arab/Muslims have contributed nothing to civilization in more than 500 years so of course they celebrate our near-deaths; jumping up and down and handing out candies requires little effort for underachievers.

Keep in mind, that it was Lebanon that was one of the seven Arab countries that attacked Israel on the day she became a sovereign nation in 1948.

It was Lebanon that hid the Japanese Red Army guerillas from being discovered after having attacked and killed 26 people at Lod Airport in 1972, and who hid the murderous PFLP in the Bekaa Valley for 22 years.

It was Lebanon's government that did not stop the Lebanese Christian Phalange massacre of "palestinians" in the Sabra and Chatilla refugee camps in Lebanon in 1982, which Muslim/Arabs pinned on the Israeli people.

Lebanon, like Syria, Iran and yes, England, has Jewish blood on its hands.

I would have felt much better had any Muslim any guts to mention that they recognize the goals of Hizbullah as part of an axis of terror which also includes Syria, Iran and Hamas, to set the region in flames and dictate the Israeli-palestinian agenda.

Apparently, the Muslims celebrating are too busy launching attacks and berating Israel and Jews for defending themselves against Arab/Muslim butchers to take much notice.

The fact that Israel was attacked after leaving every inch of Lebanon and the Gaza Strip proves that the reason why Hezbollah initiated this war was not because of any territorial dispute but just because Israel exists.

Currently there are 30 conflicts around the world and 25 of them involve Muslims.

You want to talk words? Let's talk about the Koran. Let's talk about how Jews are referred to as "sons of monkeys and pigs".

I say to those Muslims who are celebrating; don't for one minute think that you are better than Jews nor think for one minute that you are authorized to determine for the Jewish people where we live, where our borders are and what we are allowed to say and how we are allowed to defend ourselves.

There is no law on earth that requires the Jewish people to accept their own demise merely because Arab Muslims like you say we should.

You all better be careful what you celebrate. There will always be another Arab/Muslim ready to rape you and sell your mother in a moment's notice. I wouldn't turn my back on Nasrallah or Ahamedinejad, if I were you, and I thank G-d I am not.

You better all learn how to sleep with one eye open, fools. Syria and Iran are not done with you yet, you stupid puppets.

Elite IDF units - The best of the best

Nathaniel Rosen and Max Kitaj, THE JERUSALEM POST Aug. 2, 2006

The General Staff Reconnaissance Unit

The General Staff Reconnaissance Unit (Sayeret Matkal), known as "The Unit," is generally considered the IDF's most elite special forces unit. Established in 1957 and modeled after the British SAS, the unit's primary mission is gathering field intelligence, often venturing deep into enemy territory.

As the unit responsible for hostage situations outside of Israel, Sayeret Matkal is most notably known for its role in Operation Thunderbolt in 1976, when it helped rescue 103 Air France passengers who were being held hostage in Entebbe, Uganda. IDF soldiers entered the Entebbe airport at night, killed eight terrorists and recovered all but two hostages. The only soldier lost that night was the mission's commander, Lt.-Col. Yonatan Netanyahu.

In 1972, four PLO terrorists hijacked a Sabena airliner carrying 99 passengers and 10 crew members on route from Brussels to Tel Aviv. In an mission entitled Operation Isotope, 16 members of Sayeret Matkal
posed as refueling and technical personnel and stormed the plane, killing the terrorists and releasing the passengers.

In 1973, Sayeret Matkal, along with other special forces, participated in Operation Spring of Youth. "The Unit" attacked PLO buildings in Beirut and other locations throughout Lebanon in response to the Munich Olympic massacre. Led by future prime minister Ehud Barak, Sayeret Matkal killed three PLO leaders and numerous
other terrorists.

In October 1994, Cpl. Nachson Wachsman, a member of a Golani Brigade commando unit - the Orev Golani - was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists disguised as haredim. The kidnappers threatened to kill Wachsman
unless dozens of terrorists were released. Just one hour before the deadline was set to expire, a group of Sayeret Matkal personnel tried to free him. The terrorists killed Wachsman along with one member of
Sayeret Matkal before being killed themselves.

Samoor

The name samoor, a Hebrew acronym for "tunnels and caches," also translates as weasel. This unit is charged with locating and exploring the hidden tunnels frequently encountered in Lebanon and the territories. These secret bunker systems, such as the one used by Hamas to capture Cpl. Gilad Shalit on June 25, are usually used to transport and protect gunmen and weapons. Tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip, however, are often used to smuggle prostitutes, drugs and explosives from Egypt into Gaza. Among other gadgets, Samoor employs remote controlled robots that move underground, transmitting video to their operator above ground.

Sayeret Egoz

Sayeret Egoz was originally formed in 1956 and twice disbanded. It was reestablished in 1995 to fight guerrillas in southern Lebanon as part of the Golani infantry brigade. Its duties were broadened in
2000 when it was used as a counterterrorism outfit in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It has returned to its old stomping ground during the current fighting in Lebanon.

Alpinistim

The Alpine unit is the extreme weather force that defends the electronic intelligence-gathering center on Mount Hermon - a major source of intelligence on the border with Syria. Its members are drawn primarily from another special forces unit - Palsar Golani - but also includes immigrants with experience in snow warfare in their native countries. Skills acquired in the unit include snow combat maneuvers, skiing and fast roping. During training, members spend many nights in snow caves, having to huddle together to stay warm.

Oketz

Oketz, the K-9 special forces unit, was created to train train dogs to attack kidnappers. Each dog is now trained to have a particular specialty. Attack dogs are mostly used in cities, although have proven effective in rural, bushy areas like in Lebanon. Tracking and chasing dogs are used for manhunts and detecting breaches at the borders; weapons and ammunition dogs search for their namesakes, as do explosive dogs, and search and rescue dogs are used to find people in collapsed buildings.

Belgian Shepherds are the preferred breed for two reasons: they're the perfect size to be picked up by their handler while still being able to attack an enemy, and their fair coats make them less prone to heatstroke.

Like the rest of the IDF, the dogs are trained to be tech-savy - they carry microphones and receive orders from their handlers at a distance.

Cry me a river

During his speech before Arab foreign ministers, Siniora broke into tears twice, and called on fellow Muslim countries to help Lebanon. 'Israeli army has left no bridge standing, bombarded hospitals and UN posts, all for the sake of revenge,' PM says.

Siniora, that's what you get for hiding masked cowards under women's skirts and using babies as human shields, you snivelling thug. It was YOUR country, Lebanon, that was one of the seven Arab countries that attacked Israel on the day she became a sovereign nation in 1948. It was YOUR country that hid the Japanese Red Army guerillas that attacked and killed 26 people at Lod Airport in 1972, and who hid the murderous PFLP in the Bekaa Valley for 22 years. It was YOUR country and government that did not stop the Lebanese Christian Phalange massacre of palestinians in the Sabra and Chatilla refugee camps in Lebanon in 1982, which YOU pinned on the Israeli people. Your country has Jewish blood on its hands for more than 60 years. This is your payback, you filthy war criminal. You stepped on Israel's toes too many times and now you're getting your payback.

The Jews are not demonstrating with their dead on the streets, yelling and chanting and asking for revenge; the Jews are not promoting brain washing the children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselv es up and cause maximum deaths of Jews and other non Muslims.

The Jews don't hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics; the Jews don't traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.

The Jews don't have the economic strength of petroleum, nor the possibilities to force the world's media to see "their side" of the question.

Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.

To the members of the Ceroc Scotland forum

To El Salsero Gringo, thank you for your intelligent and authoritative support of Israel. I would have emailed you directly to say so but your forum's registration process prevented me from doing so.

The unanswered questions continue to pile up regarding the tragedy at Qana. Of course, the deaths of civilians is tragic; we've had several thousands who we have mourned for in our country beginning with the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993, the Oklahoma City bombing, of course 9-11, and prior to that, Pearl Harbor. Nonetheless, some questions need to be answered before anyone can truthfully state that what happened in Qana was not the result of Nasrallah's - the bloodthirsty leader of Hezbollah - willingness to kill his own people in order to frame world opinion against Israel.

Here is a description of Hezbollah from Global Security.org. An excerpt:

Formed in 1982 in response to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, this Lebanon-based radical Shia group takes its ideological inspiration from the Iranian revolution and the teachings of the late Ayatollah Khomeini.
For the posters at Ceroc Scotland forum and for others who are unaware, Israel invaded Lebanon the first time in 1982, because earlier in the mid-1970s, the PLO had broadened its presence in Lebanon, establishing military training centers while escalating artillery and cross-border attacks on innocent civilians in northern Israel. Following the attempted assassination of the Israeli ambassador in London, Israel attacked PLO targets in Lebanon on June 4, 1982. The PLO responded with rocket and artillery barrages, and Israel retaliated by sending ground troops into Lebanon, in a mission titled "Operation Peace for the Galilee."

Related to this, the Japanese Red Army, a militaristic Japanese guerilla terrorist group, had unsurprisingly close ties to the Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) which was part of the Palestine Liberation Organization(PLO), and both terrorist groups were responsible for the May 1972 Lod Airport Massacre which was a machine gun and grenade attack on Israel's Lod Airport in Tel Aviv, (now Ben Gurion International Airport), which left 26 people dead, and about 80 others were injured. Escaped members of the JRA and PFLP fled to the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, where they were kept hidden from Japanese and Israeli authorities, with the aid and assistance of Lebanese civilians, for years. These are each facts which led to Israel's invasion of Lebanon in 1982.

Back to the present: IDF photos and records indicate that the building in Qana was hit (either directly or by Hezbollah's own launchers right next to the building, similar to what is seen here) between 12 and 1 AM. The building did not fall until 8AM - seven to eight hours after the bombs hit.

Why? Here were 56 women and children in a 3 story building. Most buildings in that area have two to four appartments per floor, except the ground floor which is usually a lobby and the maintainance caretaker's apartment, and of course, parking allocations. Israel warned the innocents to leave days in advance. Why were so many women and children together in the one building? Why were women, children and elderly the only ones killed? Where were the men? Could Nasrallah have told his Hezbollah henchmen to gather the women and children to that building and then blow up the building eight hours later in order to make it look like it was Israel's fault? It's worth investigating.

Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese have perpetrated lies against Israel in the past: the Sabra and Shatilla "massacre" , Deir Yassin "massacre", Jenin "massacre", Mohammad al-Dura's "murder", and the Gaza beach "massacre", are just a few.

Within a few hours of the building's collapse, there was a large rally in Beirut against Israel and the US. The rally featured a 30+ foot long poster featuring a picture of Condi and the words "The massacre of children in Qana 2, is the gift of Rice. The clever bombs..Stupid".

Wouldn't making such a poster be an all-day affair? Wouldn't such a large, high-quality poster need several hours of production before it would be ready and in place within hours of the Qana incident? Clearly, production would have had to start before the building fell down. Here's this from PowerLineBlog.

Then there's Mr. Green Helmet by EU Referendum, here and here. ( graphic pictures, folks ). Apparently the same two guys (one in a green helmet, one in a white T-shirt) manage to show up in almost every picture, holding dead children in different poses. At least one of the men was also on the scene in Qana 1996. I wonder if he is a member of the Screen Extras Guild. And here's this from Yaakov:
According to this Lebanese blog (English Google translation), Hizballah took a bunch of handicapped children, put them in the bomb shelter of this building, and then placed a missile launcher on top of the building for Israel to target. Dead children = good PR for Hizballah and more support for their cause from the Lebanese people.

Even if you don't buy this one has to wonder how it came to be that all of these children ended up hiding in the building next to the firing positions and storage containers of rocket launchers that make such obvious (and legitimate) targets for Israeli air strikes.

And to satisfy the most ardent conspiracy theorists out there, check out this post which brings up the possibility that dead bodies from Tyre were relocated to Qana in order to perform double-duty as the victims of Israeli aggression. Also see this post from Confederate Yankee - Caution: Graphic Photos - which has more speculation on the same subject)
So the question becomes, what would the United States do if rockets were raining into San Diego from across the border with Mexico? Well, as voiced on the Ceroc Scotland forum, America is the most hated country in the world after Israel, so the question no longer beckons a reasoned voice to ask what would the US do; Europeans don't care about Americans any more than they care about the welfare of Israelis.

After 9-11, and after ignoring the bombing of the USS Cole and American Embassies in Africa under the detestable administration of President Clinton's, the US courageously defended herself against her enemies and future attacks by going in and destroying the Taliban in Afghanistan, and then by going into Iraq to destroy the Ba'ath government responsible for funding terror and subsidizing Muslim terror training camps around the world who also paid off Palestinian families $25,000 for producing "martyrs" to kill innocent Jews in Israel.

My question is, why now do Europeans determine that all of the United State’s good works are irrelevant? How do you nullify all the lives we have made better, as if they aren’t worth ink on paper? Our country is an arena for many people to succeed where they otherwise would never have a chance, and Europeans refuse to acknowledge that. How about some intellectual honesty where you acknowledge our foundational goodness? And how about some humanity where you look at our mistakes as places where we need improvement, not excuses to denigrate us? What do you hope to accomplish by beating the US down, rather than propping us up? If we pay close attention to all the great things we have done, all the way down to the grassroots, and all that we share rather than hoard, the only logical conclusion is that there is a lot about the US that is good, and which deserves to be a fundamental part of the equation, especially in the face of such an obvious agenda to swing the pendulum in the direction of our enemies.

There is always room for improvement, but overall, yes, we are the good guys. And so are the Israelis.

What was the Litani River Operation?

Using Lebanon as a base, Palestinian fighters mounted intermittent cross-border attacks against civilian and military targets in Israel. There were also international terrorist spectaculars, e.g., the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, perpetrated by groups based in Lebanon. In turn, the Israelis struck back at targets and groups across the border in Lebanon from time to time.

After the March 11, 1978 Bus Hijacking on the Coastal Road, Israel launched a major military incursion into South Lebanon, called the Litani River Operation. Israel crossed into southern Lebanon on March 15 and struck at PLO terrorist bases and staging areas south of the Litani River, up to ten kilometers deep inside the country. Twenty-one IDF soldiers were killed before the operation ended on March 21, 1978.

The operation prompted a formal statement of "United States Concern With the Territorial Integrity of Lebanon," calling for Israeli withdrawal and discussing a United Nations role in Lebanon. On March 19, 1978, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 425 calling for Israeli withdrawal and establishing an international peace-keeping force for South Lebanon, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), to enable the establishment of a buffer zone in southern Lebanon free of terrorists.

By June Prime Minister Begin, under intense American pressure, withdrew Israeli forces, which were replaced by UNIFIL. The withdrawal of Israeli troops without having removed the PLO from its bases in southern Lebanon became a major embarrassment to the Begin government. The cross-border cycle of attack and retaliation continued, and the PLO expanded its bases, forces, and armaments in Lebanon. Finally, Israel was forced to respond with its 1982 invasion and occupation of southern Lebanon. The UNIFIL force of about 3,500 is still deployed in 2002.

Black September

Disproportionate response, you say? Was it a disproportionate act when Abu Mazen engineered the "Black September" terror attack during the Munich Olympics, which killed 11 Israeli athletes and a U.S. citizen?

Oh, what's 11 Jews, anyway. But your curiousity is peaked when I say "Black September".

Black September, you ask? What is Black September?

The Black September Organization (BSO) was a palestinian terror group, founded in 1970. The group's name came from the conflict known as Black September, which began on September 16, 1970, when King Hussein of Jordan declared military rule in response to an attempt by the fedayeen to seize his kingdom, resulting in the deaths or expulsion from Jordan of thousands of palestinians. The BSO began as a small cell of Fatah men determined to take revenge on King Hussein and the Jordanian army. Recruits from the PFLP, as-Sa'iqa, and other groups also joined.

The BSO is best known for the kidnap and murder of 11 Israeli athletes, and the murder of a German police officer, during the September 1972 attack on the Olympic Village in Munich, Germany, which became known as the Munich massacre.

Preventive Measures and we'll do it again, if we have to

The former head of the Mossad espionage agency, Zvi Zamir, debunks myths and beliefs that have taken root as facts in the public consciousness. No, he says. The assassinations of Palestinian terrorists after the 1972 Munich Olympics were not an act of revenge. "There was no order given by Golda [Meir, the prime minister at the time] to exact revenge," he emphasizes. It was less a case of looking for those who had been involved in the attack, he explains, and more a desire to strike at the infrastructure of the terrorist organizations in Europe.

"We reached the conclusion that we had no choice but to start with preventive measures," Zamir says, because "Israeli civilians in their travels abroad, and Israeli installations, were not protected and even when the European authorities arrested the terrorists, they immediately surrendered to their entreaties and demands, and released them. As far as the terrorist organizations and groups were concerned, there was no risk for them in attacking Israeli targets."

"Munich was a shock for us. A turning point....Now it was clear to everyone...that the Europeans would not do what was called for." "There is no defense without an offensive foundation. We...viewed this as part of the defensive alignment and deterrence that would put an end to open Palestinian terrorism in Europe. And I think that in the war which developed in the wake of Munich, we succeeded." "It was not just 10 or 12 Mossad people...who brought about order in Europe. Gradually it became clear to the local services that it is their duty to fight terrorism and put an end to it. It was joint work."

Zamir believes that the film "Munich" does an injustice to Mossad personnel, to Israel, and to the struggle against terrorism. "The film has not done well in Israel, and rightly so. The Israelis, who understand the subject, know that the film does not reflect what really happened."

More "Munich" comments if you can stand it

A letter worth reading:

'The Film Munich' creates opinion By Moti Gur:

Steven Spielberg, Shalom,

First I want to thank you. I have enjoyed so many of your pictures and I am grateful for the pleasure you have given so many of us.

I am thanking you in advance for taking a moment to read my letter, and hopefully respond.

I was a young Israeli soldier in 1972. Our tiny democracy had overcome many traumas and the chronic daily terrorism.

So that made us, perhaps the proudest country in the world, to be able to send our best friends and family athletes to the Olympic competition. The pain of the terrorist murders at the Munich Olympics was enormous, and for Israelis and others Jews all over the world there is still pain today, related to that horrific event.

The murdered athletes were not only Israel's best, they were Israel's pride!!

And when Israel sent them to compete with the world in the Olympics we were so proud of them!

Furthermore, it was a statement to the world and to the German people that only twenty seven years after the Holocaust, we Jews were standing up to compete there as living equals with The rest of the world.

When the German Government let the terrorists go free only a couple of weeks following the massacre, it was another stab in the back to Israelis and Jews worldwide. It was another blow to our belief that there could be justice in the world when it came to the Jewish People. Letting them leave was a statement to the world that killing Jews was not a serious crime.

Blithely continuing with the Olympics (uber allis) at the same time that the terrorists were getting a heroes welcome in the Arab world, poured salt in our open wounds. No one in the world seemed to care about law or justice.

When you made your film about this painful tragedy - a pain so close to the Israelis and to the Jews of the world, I was hoping that you would take the opportunity to make a strong point that inexcusable barbaric acts of terrorism (which are still supported by many Arab countries and radical Islamic leaders today) will not be tolerated in our modern world, and will not fly By without justice being pursued.

Your movie disappointed me and so many of us by appearing to promote a moral equivalence between Israeli victims and the terrorists in your film.

You gave time for a Palestinian terrorist in the film to present his "case" for terrorism, without allowing legitimate, natural rebuttal response from the Israeli side, as though there was no response. The movie embraced a moral equivalence between justice and international law on one hand and the terrorists on the other.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS MORAL EQUIVALENCE WHEN IT COMES TO TERRORISTS!

When you allow the terrorist in your film to make an excuse for his barbaric acts (an excuse which is a lie) without a clear and a strong response, the lie becomes the truth to the millions of people who will see your movie. This may be the only history of that time that they learn! To hundreds of millions of Arab/Muslims in the world this lie will become a more certain truth, because a JEW, SPIELBERG said it was so. You have indirectly given them more reason to continue to support terror.

Films shape and create opinion, and Munich contributes to the false idea that Israel "stole" or "took" land from the Arabs. This movie, with your imprimatur, is supporting the Arab/Muslim basis for destroying Israel: that Israel is illegitimate!

As I am sure you know: thousands of years before the Romans introduced the word "Palestine" in Israel, before Jesus and Christianity, before Muhammad and, Israel was a country with a king, an army, a religion and a Temple, a system of justice, a Bible, and holidays.

"Palestine" is the name the Romans gave to the area where Jordan and Israel sit today. Palestine has never, ever been a country.

The land of Israel is the Jews' ancient homeland! Jerusalem is Israel's capital mentioned in the Old Testament some seven hundred and thirty eight times. In the Koran Jerusalem is not mentioned even once. The word Jew came from the tribe of Judea. Many of the Arabs were mass transferred by other countries or later came to Israel from Arab countries came to find work that the Jewish workers had created---while Ottoman-Turks still controlled the area.

NO! ISRAEL DID NOT STEAL THE LAND FROM THE ARABS!

I am desperately hoping that you will be making needed corrections/additions to the film as you prepare it for DVD. Your film will influence hearts and minds. In its present state Munich, sadly, pulls hearts and minds away from Israel's survival and Jews worldwide.

I am looking forward to your response!

Mahmoud Abbas is the same person as Abu Mazen

Abu Mazen, now known as the president of the Palestinian Authority, also paid for the murder of Israel's olympic athletes in 1972. Mahmoud Abbas financed the "Black September" terror attack which killed 11 athletes including one U.S. citizen, a weightlifter named David Berger who was an American from Cleveland, Ohio.

On September 5, 1972, a squad of heavily armed Palestinian terrorists attacked the dormitories housing the Israeli Olympic team and murdered a coach and weight-lifter David Berger, who was an American citizen. The terrorists then took nine Israeli athletes hostage. While the terrorists and their hostages were transported to the airport, the German police botched a rescue attempt and all nine of the athletes were murdered.

The director of Shurat Hadin, attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, sent letters to U.S. President George W. Bush and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder containing new information indicating that that Abu Mazen (whose given name is Mahmoud Abbas) provided financing to the PLO’s Black September terrorist group, in order to carry out the notorious terrorist attack at the 1972 Olympic Games.

While recent newsmedia profiles of Abu Mazen have accentuated the Palestinian leader’s alleged “terrorism-free” personal history, the Shurat Hadin charges that in 1972, Abu Mazen, then a high ranking PLO official, provided financing for the terrorist attacks being perpetrated by Yassir Arafat’s PLO faction Fatah under the nom de guerre Black September.

Shurat Hadin is basing its information on published statements by the terrorist who masterminded the the Munich attack, Mohammed Daoud Oudeh (“Abu Daoud”). In his French-language autobiography, Palestine: From Jerusalem to Munich, Abu Daoud describes the role of Abu Mazen in providing the funds to carry out the Black September Olympic attack.

Furthermore, in an interview with journalist Don Yaeger of Sports Illustrated Magazine in August 2002, Abu Daoud reiterated his charges that Abu Mazen supplied the money for the deadly attack.

In his memoir Abu Daoud states: “After Oslo in 1993, Abu Mazen went to the White House Rose Garden for a photo op with Arafat, President Bill Clinton and Israel's Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres. "Do you think that ... would have been possible if the Israelis had known that Abu Mazen was the financier of our operation?" Abu Daoud writes. "I doubt it."

Abu Daoud’s allegations have been confirmed by sources within the Palestinian Authority, according to Shurat Hadin. Attorney Darshan-Leitner’s letter to President Bush states: “Under your leadership the United States has declared that it will no longer maintain contacts with those tainted by terrorist pasts. It appears that the new Palestinian leader, on whom the United States and Israel are now pinning their hopes, was also involved in murderous attacks perpetrated by the PLO’s Black September. If proven true, Abu Mazen’s role in the brutal killing of the Israeli athletes and American citizen David Berger must preclude his involvement in the negotiations between the United States, Israel and her Arab neighbors.”

Both Germany and Israel still have the legal jurisdiction to prosecute those involved in the Munich Olympic killings.

Palestinians celebrate ramadan with anti-Israel TV Special

The palestinians are again regurgitating their vile Jew-hating rhetoric with more incitement in their PA-controlled media. "The Canaanite," a new television series broadcast on palestinian television over the month of ramadan, is filled with biased scenes mimicking brutal behavior of Israeli security officials against palestinian prisoners.

One scene depicts an IDF soldier happily shooting and killing a palestinian bride. The presentation of IDF soldiers as blood-thirsty murderers is only a backdrop to the claim that Israelis "are willing to fight us (the palestinians) with AIDS."

All this, while George Bush praises Mahmoud Abbas (aka Abu Mazen, the engineer behind the mass murder of the 12 Israeli athletes during the 1972 Munich Olympics) as a man "devoted to peace". George Bush is a shill for the Palestinian Authority.

Steven Spielberg, phone home already

Folks, Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner, two more embarassments to Judaism:

Jason Maoz, JewishPress.com, writes:
The alarm bells went off like crazy when Steven Spielberg hired Tony Kushner ( a gay Jewish socialist who was raised in Louisiana, and who won a Pulitzer Prize and two Tony Awards for his two-part, seven-hour Broadway production of Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, and who believes people shouldn't trust artists and they shouldn't trust art.) last year to rewrite the script of a movie about Israel's clandestine — and lethal — response to the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Spielberg's dissatisfaction with the original draft by Eric Roth, as well as his fear that Jews will be outraged by his Munich movie when it opens this December, was reported on at length in the July 1 New York Times.

(For an insightful view of Spielberg and his possible motives, see Joseph Schick's op-ed on page 4 of this week's Jewish Press.)

Since the Monitor has long held the view articulated by the columnist Don Feder — that for all his filmmaking talent, "Spielberg is another star-struck, not terribly bright celebrity" — the emphasis here will be not on Spielberg, of whom little is expected when it comes to Israel, but on Kushner, a truly vile leftist whose views on the Middle East are virtually indistinguishable from what can be seen on the most rabidly anti-Israel websites.

Kushner's main claim to fame is as a playwright — he'd never written a movie before Spielberg came calling — so one can't help wonder why Spielberg would turn his film over to a novice, unless there is something about Kushner's worldview that Spielberg finds appealing.

It is a worldview that has inspired Kushner to declare, "I think the founding of the State of Israel was for the Jewish people a historical, moral, political calamity.... I wish modern Israel hadn't been born."

It is a worldview that had him tell the Times of London, "I deplore the brutal and illegal tactics of the Israeli Defense Forces in the occupied territories. I deplore the occupation, the forced evacuations, the settlements, the refugee camps, the whole shameful history of the dreadful suffering of the Palestinian people; Jews, of all people, with our history of suffering, should refuse to treat our fellow human beings like that."

It is a worldview that caused him to sign his name to a noxious newspaper advertisement released by the Not In Our Name Project in 2002 that viciously attacked both the U.S. and Israel. Sample: "In our name, the Bush administration, with near unanimity from Congress, not only attacked Afghanistan but arrogated to itself and its allies the right to rain down military force anywhere and any time. The brutal repercussions have been felt from the Philippines to Palestine, where Israeli tanks and bulldozers have left a terrible trail of death and destruction."

It is a worldview that inspired him to sit on the advisory board of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), an outfit that boasts of its public support for the Presbyterian Church's decision to consider selective divestment measures against Israel and which on its website "call [s] upon the United States to suspend military aid to Israel, and on U.S. corporations such as Caterpillar to stop supplying the Israeli army" as long as Israel maintains "its occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem."

It is a worldview that sees nothing off-kilter or one-sided in the JVP prescription for peace: "Palestinians must stop suicide bombings and other attacks on Israeli civilians," while "Israel must cease its use of military force against Palestinian civilians, including attacks involving American-supplied F-16s and Apache helicopters. Moreover, Israel must stop land seizures; destruction of homes, infrastructure, orchards and farms; arbitrary arrests and imprisonment; torture; assassinations; expulsions; curfews; travel restrictions; abuse at checkpoints; raids; collective punishment; and other violations of human rights."

It is a worldview that led him to co-edit, along with the equally far-left Alisa Solomon, a nauseating volume called Wrestling With Zion: Progressives Jewish-American Responses to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. Of that book the Forward's Ami Eden wrote: "...reading [it] takes you to an alternative universe, where the Israel of today has reoccupied Palestinian territories and adopting harsh security measures — but not in response to a Palestinian-launched intifada bent on blowing up babies on buses. Instead, Israel's presence in the territories today is primarily the product of — Kushner and Solomon's words — ‘Ariel Sharon's mad, bloody dream of Greater Israel, which he and his comrades of the radical Israeli right have pursued for decades.' "

This is the twisted creature to whom Steven Spielberg has entrusted the script of a movie that will affect the public perception of Israel — in the U.S. and around the world — for years to come.

Who is Mahmoud Abbas?

He is just another Muslim terrorist invited to the White House. The terrorist Mahmoud Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, was royally received by U.S. President, George W. Bush this week with the "red carpet treatment", just the way former President Bill Clinton used to receive the terrorist Yasser Arafat. In fact, Arafat was the most frequent foreign visitor/terrorist to the White House, even though Clinton was aware of Arafat's murderous record, including his well documented murder of Americans including the killing of Ambassador Cleo and G. Curtis Moore in 1973, the murder of 241 American Marines in Beirut in 1983 and Yasser Arafat also helped plan the first World Trade Center bombing in New York in 1993.

So who is Abu Mazen, oops, I mean Mahmoud Abbas?

Mahmoud Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, was elected chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization within hours of Yasser Arafat's death last year, putting him on a track to become the next overall leader of the Palestinians.

Mahmoud Abbas was born in Safad in 1935.

He left as a refugee for Syria in 1948 and worked as an elementary teacher. He later gained a BA in law from Damascus University and a Ph.D. from the Oriental College in Moscow in History (on supposed contacts between the Zionist movement and the Nazis).

He worked as director of personnel in Qatar's civil service and began to manage and organize Palestinian groups.

He was a founding member of Fatah and a member of the Palestine National Council (since 1968) and the PLO Executive Committee.

Abbas has headed the PLO Department for National and International Relations since 1980 and was elected by the PLO Executive Committee to replace Abu Jihad (assassinated in April 1988) as chairman of the portfolio on the Occupied Territories in May 1988.

He was elected the Committee's secretary general in 1996, informally confirming his position as Yasser Arafat's deputy.

The Movement for the National Liberation of Palestine (Fatah) was founded in the early 1960s by Yasser Arafat and friends of his in Algeria, Fatah was originally opposed to the founding of the PLO, which it viewed as a political opponent. Backed by Syria, Fatah began carrying out terrorist raids against Israeli targets in 1965, launched from Jordan, Lebanon and Egyptian-occupied Gaza (so as not to draw reprisals against Syria). Dozens of raids were carried out each year, exclusively against civilian targets.

He has been charged with involvement in terrorism. Mohammed Daoud Oudeh (Abu Daoud), the mastermind of the Munich Massacre of Israeli Olympic athletes in 1972, charges that his operation was funded by Abbas.

"Fatah" is a reverse acronym of the Arabic, Harekat at-Tahrir al-Wataniyyeh al-Falastiniyyeh.

The word "Fatah" means "conquest by means of jihad [Islamic holy war]".

In the Fatah emblem, you will note the grenade and crossed rifles, superimposed on the map of Israel in the emblem. This emphasizes the dedication of Fatah, along with the other "liberation" groups, to the "armed struggle" against Israel, a euphemism for terrorism against civilians.

Earlier this month, Abu Abbas (also known as Abu Mazen, the key engineer behind the massacre of the 1972 Israeli athletes in Munich), was promised more than $1 billion in financial aid at the London Conference, but trrue to form, according to PA Prime Minister Qurei, the Palestinians still haven't received any of the money.

Shyeah, riiiiight. Meanwhile the PA has decided to purchase more than 100 new vehicles for all members of the Palestinian Legislative Council. The PA's 24 ministers will each receive a German Audi A-6, which costs $76,000. The 86 lawmakers will be given the A-4, which costs $45,000.
