Who is Raeed Tayeh?

From Discover the Networks:
  • Former Executive Board member of the Islamic Association for Palestine
  • Former research fellow for the United Association for Studies and Research
  • Spoke at a 2001 rally along with Sami Al-Arian and George Habash
  • Worked for Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney
  • Official of the Muslim American Society
  • “Islamists refuse to recognize the legitimacy of Israel or the peace agreement made with it, and vow to return the Holy Land to the Muslim nation.”
An American-born Palestinian activist, Raeed N. Tayeh was formerly an Executive Board member of the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) and a research fellow for the United Association for Studies and Research. He also has had connections to American Muslims for Jerusalem.

On June 21, 1999, Tayeh expressed his contempt for Israel on the Friends For Palestine (FFP) website, an extremist site run via the University of Memphis Web server, which posted diatribes against Jews and featured a map of Israel with the Palestinian flag superimposed on it. “Very nice Website,” wrote Tayeh. “I am very proud of the FFP, keep up the good work. It is our duty to return Palestine, ALL OF PALESTINE. I suggest that if any of you really want to get involved, to join the Islamic Association for Palestine -- IAP, they have chapters all over North America, and if you don’t have a chapter, I will help you start one. You should also read the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. This is one of your best sources for fair news about the Middle East.” [Tayeh was the Chicago correspondent for this vehemently anti-Israel publication.]

On November 29, 1999, Tayeh wrote a story for Islam Online -- a website that has published religious/legal opinions in support of suicide bombings -- about the Third Annual IAP Convention. In that piece, Tayeh stated, “Islamists refuse to recognize the legitimacy of Israel or the peace agreement made with it, and vow to return the Holy Land to the Muslim nation.” He also praised Issa Nakhleh as “a distinguished Palestinian Christian historian.” Nakhleh had called Yasser Arafat “an honorable Palestinian leader”; had called Ariel Sharon “an irresponsible terrorist, murderer and war criminal”; and had excused suicide bombings as understandable responses to “Israeli crimes.”

In his poem titled “Who Am I?” -- which originally appeared on the IAP website -- Tayeh says, "Oh how I dream of that wonderful day, when our flags are raised, and when the marching bands will play. When the young will cheer, and when the old will cry. When the refugees return, and when Zionism will die."

In November 2000 Tayeh was the spokesman for a group protesting against the Chicago Sun Times for having published an editorial blaming Yasser Arafat for Middle East violence.

In February 2001 Tayeh was the contact -- along with the pro-terrorist Palestinian activist and writer Hatem Abudayyeh -- for a solidarity march organized by the Coalition for Justice in Palestine.

On April 7, 2001, while he was still with the IAP, Tayeh was a featured speaker at a rally in New York City that included Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leaders Sami Al-Arian and Mazen Al-Najjar. The rally also featured a statement by George Habash, founder of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Also in 2001, Tayeh was hired as Communications Director for Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. But on November 28 of that year, he was forced to resign from McKinney’s staff when it was learned that he had written a “letter to the editor” questioning the loyalty of Jewish members of Congress. He stated in that letter: “What is more disturbing to me is that many of these pro-Israeli lawmakers sit on the House International Relations Committee despite the obvious conflict of interest that their emotional attachments to Israel cause. . . . The Israeli occupation of all territories must end, including Congress.”

At IAP’s 5th Annual Convention in December 2001, Tayeh was again a featured speaker along with Sami Al-Arian.From February 2002 to September 2002, Tayeh was the Washington Director of American Muslims for Global Peace and Justice (AMGPJ). During this period, he issued a press release “condemning” the U.S. government for conducting raids on northern Virginia Islamic organizations that were being investigated for their role in terrorist financing.

Tayeh was also the promoter of a boycott against Starbucks Coffee -- a campaign initiated in response to Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz’s “support for various Jewish charitable organizations and his warnings about rising anti-Semitism around the world.”

Tayeh authored a book titled A Muslim’s Guide to American Politics and Government. It was published by the Muslim American Society (MAS), and its foreword was written by MAS President Souheil Ghannouchi.

Since September 2002, Tayeh has worked as the Public Affairs Director for the MAS Freedom Foundation. On April 26, 2003, Tayeh gave an MAS-sponsored “activist training seminar” with the organization’s Communications Director, Randal Todd “Ismail” Royer, who would later be sentenced to prison on firearms and conspiracy charges in relation to a group associated with al Qaeda.

The MAS 2003 annual convention was co-sponsored by the Islamic Circle of North America. Tayeh was a featured speaker at this event, along with: Mustafa Abu Sway, who the Israeli government has labeled “a known activist” in the Hamas terrorist movement; Siraj Wahhaj, who was named as a possible co-conspirator to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center; Zulfiqar Ali Shah, CEO of the Universal Heritage Foundation; and the neo-Nazi William Baker.

In February 2004, MAS sent Tayeh to the Cleveland Mosque to assist Fawaz Damra, who had recently been arrested for concealing his links to anti-Israel terrorist groups. Damra in 1991 had said that “[Muslims should be] directing all rifles at the first and last enemy of the Islamic nation, and that is the sons of monkeys and pigs, the Jews.” Four years later, Damra was named as a possible co-conspirator to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

During an August 2004 appearance on CNN, Tayeh made the following remarks:

  • “The United Nations needs to stop passing resolutions and start enforcing the ones that are on the books, namely returning to the 1967 borders and allowing Palestinian refugees the right to return to their homes.”
  • “The Palestinians ... fighting the people who have occupied their land, who have stolen their land …”
“Well, the United Nations, in 1947, came up with a plan to divide Palestinian [sic], giving the Jews the majority of the country and the Palestinians the minority. The Palestinians rejected it because they said, hey, we live here. This is 100 percent of our land.”
  • “Jews can have their land, but the Palestinians didn't commit the Holocaust. That was Germany under the Nazis. Why not create a state in Germany?”
  • “Jews live in Arab countries and in some countries they live very well, and they're protected.”

The Investigative Project on Terrorism website (includes audio and ideo clips)

About The Investigative Project on Terrorism

The Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) is a non-profit research group founded by Steven Emerson in 1995. It is recognized as the world's most comprehensive data center on radical Islamic terrorist groups. For more than a decade, the IPT has investigated the operations, funding, activities and front groups of Islamic terrorist and extremist groups in the United Statesand around the world. It has become a principal source of critical evidence to a wide variety of government offices and law enforcement agencies, as well as the U.S. Congress and numerous public policy forums. Research carried out by the IPT team has formed the basis for thousands of articles and television specials on the subject of radical Islamic involvement in terrorism, and has even led to successful government action against terrorists and financiers based in the United States.

The real truth about the Middle East crisis

Folks, my family and I will be enjoying a getaway so I won't be updating this site too often over the next few days although, I might surprise you and myself, I just might be able to update if the wi-fi works and kicks in and I get a stronger signal than "weak".

While I am hibernating, please view the following videos and re-run them as often as you need to in order to take notes and learn the truth about the Middle East crisis. And it is indeed a crisis and the crisis is on the verge of being catastrophic. We are at war with the Islamic War Machine, and no matter what libtards, Democrats, and other radical left-wing atheists tell you, the enemy is Islam, the enemy is here, and the enemy wants to kill you and your loved ones. So, study up, do your research, write your letters, and defend the truth.

See you soon.

Here is a compilation of some of the best resources available to help you counterpoint the misinformation about Israel that oozes out of the mouths of terrorist-apologists and psuedo-intellectuals. Hat tip to Think-Israel:

An excellent introduction to the differences in perception between the Israelis and their Arab neighbors is an article by Victor David Hanson in the National Review. It is called Palestinian Pretense and Israeli Reality. You'll find it at History in A Nutshell. It was produced by Udi Ohana of Concept Wizard. He has a new presentation called PipeLine of Hatred on Islamic anti-Semitism.

Download Twenty Facts About Israeland the Middle East from the Empower America web site. Empower America is a highly respected group; its directors include Jeane Kirkpatrick, William Bennett and Jack Kemp.

Read the page on Palestinians in The Peace Encyclopedia. It's an eye-opener, hard-hitting and accurate, laying out the stages in the bogus creation of a Palestinian people.

FLAME is an organization that buys space in different magazines to present factual and well-written articles on Israel and its neighbors. Its aim is to counteract the nonsense that passes as truth in so much of the media. You can read their articles on their web site: http://www.factsandlogic.org/.

By now, you should be ready for real detail. These are some excellent background books:

Mitchell G. Bard: Myths and Middle East. It is easy to read and accurate. You will probably want to own a copy. But you can read it online at Middle East Myths.

Steven Emerson: Jihad: The Terrorists Living Among Us. Emerson is an authority on American-based organizations that aid and abet Arab terrorists.

Joan Peters: From Time Immemorial: The Origins of the Arab-Jewish Conflict over Palestine. This was one of the first books to expose the Arab lies that underlie the Arab claims to the Land of Israel.

Mitchell Geoffrey Bard: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Middle East Conflict. As the review in Amazon.com from the AOL Jewish Community Newsletter says: "Don't let your brain get parched. This useful book sorts through the political and military quagmire of the Middle East in language anyone can understand."

The internet has superb websites that are informative, and often with excellent graphics. Israel Science and Technology has factual articles on the Arab-Israeli conflict, including statistical tables and graphics. The home page is a compendium of essential information on Israeli science and technology: universities, departments, businesses, libraries, professional association, jobs, etc.

Maps of Israel from the Kingdom of David and Solomon to the present are presented in good detail. There are also maps comparing population, literacy, GNP, etc between Israel and its neighbors. Middle East Information is dedicated to advancing democracy and pluralism innets the Arab world. Its Resources Links - libraries with internet Middle East collections, bibliographies and maps - are outstanding.

Use the virtual library of the American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise (AICE) as an online encyclopedia of Jewish subjects. You can retrieve original documents and essays indexed as: maps, references, history, religion, Judaic treasures at the Library of Congress, and so forth. Log into http://www.us-israel.org/.

Palestine facts is a site "dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate information regarding the historical, military, and political background to the on-going struggle between the State of Israel and the Arab Palestinians." It is superbly organized and can well serve as a single-source resource.

Legal and diplomatic documents relevent to the history of the Middle East can be viewed by logging into the Avalon Project of the Yale Law School: Avalon Project.

Jews, Arabs and Eretz Israel is a succinct but excellent summary of the conflict between Jews and Arabs. It was composed by Samuel Kurinsky and includes an excellent summary of the history of Israel.

"Facing Jihad" by Dr. Asher Eder has an excellent monograph on the necessity of renouncing Jihad, if there is ever to be peace between Israel and Islam. Sol Jacobs has constructed a downloadable PDF file on the Arab initiation of the Six-Day War, as recorded on newspapers of the time.

Our Enemies is both entertaining (delightful graphics) and instructive. In association with http://www.masada2000.org/, they present an excellent history of the "Palestinian" people. Articles are thought-provoking. They discuss not only Jewish self-haters but Christian self-haters such as Hanan Ashrawi, mouthpiece for the PLO.

As background for why the Arab young people hate Jews enough to sacrifice their own lives, you need to know what Arabs have been teaching their children in recent years. Mitchell G. Bard, Rewriting History in Textbooks is a monograph written in the early 90's on factual errors about Jews and Israel in several history texts. Read it by logging in to http://www.us-israel.org/pub/texts.html. And read Jews, Israel and Peace in Palestinian School Textbooks by logging into http://www.edume.org/reports/index.htm, the web site of the Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace.

New website: sixdaywar.co.uk

2007 marks the fortieth anniversary of the war the West terms "The Six Day War". The Arabs call it the "1967 War" or an-Naksah (The Setback). It has been said that for Israel this war was a question of sheer survival; for the Arabs it was one of credibility.

Of course hindsight is a wonderful thing, offering immense clarity over what could or should have been done. It is too easy to be judgmental in retrospect. So sixdaywar.co.uk has tried to turn back the clock to give you a flavour of what it was like to be in Israel at the time, living with the tensions involved with a countdown to what Israel's opponents suggested would be anihhilation.

sixdaywar.co.uk has gathered background information from a wide variety of sources to give a deeper understanding of how circumstances developed over the weeks and months leading up to the war. The war itself has been comprehensively documented, both in books and on the internet, so this site will concentrate more on the build-up and the aftermath.

sixdaywar.co.uk is a new site explaining how, in 1967 Israel did not wake up one morning and decide to go to war - she woke up one morning and found she had to defend herself.

Please add sixdaywar.co.uk to your resources.

Jerusalem has been the heart of Israel and of world Jewry for 3,000 years

From Tzemach News Service (TNS) is a ministry of Tzemach Institute for Biblical Studies (http://www.tzemach.org/):
Jerusalem has been the heart of Israel and of world Jewry for 3,000 years, and there has been a virtually unbroken Jewish presence there for all that time. When modern statistics are on record, they show Jews as the majority in the city:

* 1860: 11,000 Jews, 6,500 Muslims, 4,500 Christians
* 1906: 40,000 Jews, 13,000 Christians, 7,000 Muslims
* 1999: 633,000 Jews, 200,000 Mulsims and Christians

Jews around the world turn toward Jerusalem when they pray. Muslims turn toward Mecca. Jews and Christians make religious pilgrimages to Jerusalem. Muslims make religious pilgrimages to Mecca.

Jerusalem is not mentioned at all in the Koran. It does not appear on lists of Muslim holy cities. Caliphs and sultans ruling from afar paid little or no heed to Jerusalem; it dwindled to a dirty, dilapidated and poverty-stricken village -- scarcely to be expected in any city that is loved or revered.

Arabs built little in Jerusalem, with the exception of the Dome of the Rock, that a caliph built in the Seventh Century -- on the site of the First and Second biblical Temples. It is now being alleged that those Temples never existed, and while one might suppose this too preposterous to require rebuttal, the historically illiterate minions of the news media may repeat it with quite serious mien.

During the Jordanian occupation of the Old City of Jerusalem, the Jewish residents were killed or driven out. For 19 years, Jews of all nationalities were banned from their holy places and historical sites, while ancient synagogues and cemeteries were wrecked or crudely desecrated. Now, the Muslim religious authorities still permitted to administer Temple Mount are relentlessly unearthing and destroying every relic of the Temples they say never existed -- a program dubbed "archaeological terrorism".
