The main achievement of the Gaza border attacks is to remind Israelis that Hamas considers all of Israel's borders illegitimate. The dispute with Hamas isn't over settlements or the "occupation" or Gaza itself. It is over Israel's existence. Yasser Arafat's Fatah party rules in the West Bank and controls both the Palestinian Authority and the PLO. On April 30, PA president and PLO chairman Mahmoud Abbas called a meeting of the Palestine National Council (PNC), the PLO's legislative body. After he delivered a three-hour speech replete with explanations that the Jews have no real historical tie to the Middle East and that European anti-Semitism was caused by the Jews, Abbas had himself reelected by acclamation. The entire scene was a throwback to Castro or Ceausescu. In 2003, Abbas looked like an alternative to Arafat and a potential Israeli peace partner. Fifteen years later those hopes are long gone, which helps explain why the Trump administration has not yet released its peace plan: Abbas would reject it instantly. Whatever the criticism, Israelis will certainly not abandon the West Bank to chaos or to a possible Hamas takeover. Today the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state is simply too dangerous to Israel and to Jordan to be contemplated. The mishandling of Palestinian affairs by their leaders has been the true Palestinian catastrophe.

On the fifth day of Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense that targets terrorist infrastructure in Gaza and which has successfully destroyed many Hamas rocket launching  points, Hamas issued false information about its own successes fighting Israel.

Today, a news ticker on Hamas’ Al-Aqsa TV incorrectly claimed:

“Media of the enemy: International airport Ben Gurion closed, planes being redirected to a secret base in the north
[of Israel].”

Similarly, the Hamas website Al-Risala falsely claimed yesterday that Hamas had succeeded in shooting down an Israeli F-16 plane:
“Hamas’ military wing Izz A-Din Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed that an ‘Israeli’ F-16 fighter plane was shot down… A reconnaissance aircraft was shot down as well.”

Likewise, on Thursday, when Israel launched the operation, Hamas immediately set out to create an illusion of its own success by reporting on TV and on a Hamas website that one of its missiles had hit Tel Aviv, falsely claiming that it had cut off electricity in the city:
“Al-Qassam Brigades shelled Tel Aviv for the first time with a locally made rocket. The electricity network in the southern part of the city was hit.”

“Izz A-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, officially announced that occupied Tal Al-Rabia (“Tal Al-Rabia” is the Palestinians’ Arabic translation of Tel Aviv, to wrongly imply the existence of an Arab village of that name prior to Tel Aviv – Ed. ) was shelled with an improved Fajr-5 rocket on Thursday morning. Yesterday, Al-Qassam [Brigades] stated that Tal Al-Rabia was shelled with a locally made rocket. They emphasized in an announcement that what comes next will be worse. Hebrew (i.e., Israeli) media sources said that the rocket cut off electricity in ‘Tel Aviv,’ which is 70 kilometers from Gaza.”

Escalation in Fatah's Position Toward Israel After Gaza Cease-Fire

We all know that any ceasefire between Muslims and non-Muslims is just a phony tactic that Muslims use to re-arm or stall long enough until they are in a stronger position to commit genocide and betray. From Escalation in Fatah's Position Toward Israel After Gaza Cease-Fire:

Under the tahdiah agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, which went into effect on June 19, 2008, the Palestinians agreed to stop the rocket attacks on Israel in exchange for a cessation of Israel's military activity in Gaza. It was also agreed that there would be negotiations for opening the Rafah crossing, with the participation of Palestinian Authority, Hamas and EU representatives.

The tahdiah has motivated Hamas to escalate the fighting in the West Bank - first, out of a sense that only force will compel Israel to make concessions, and second, as a signal that it has not sacrificed the West Bank in favor of Gaza, and that - in spite of the tahdiah - it has not relinquished the path of resistance.

In the wake of the tahdiah, Fatah officials have also escalated their positions vis-a-vis Israel. According to the London daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, the PA is considering options regarding future contacts with Israel: the first is to terminate all contacts and to announce the end of the political process; the second is to unilaterally declare the establishment of a Palestinian state.

PA senior officials have also escalated their positions concerning the armed conflict with Israel. This is reflected in statements praising Samir al-Quntar and Dalal al-Mughrabi, who perpetrated terrorist attacks in Israel. Senior officials have also stressed that Fatah will not give up armed resistance.

Mahmoud Abbas, who, like Arafat before him, also heads Fatah, congratulated the families of Samir al-Quntar and the other released prisoners. A Fatah spokesman, Ahmad 'Abd al-Rahman, congratulated Hizbullah and all the resistance forces on their "victory" over Israel and on the return of "the heroes of freedom, the prisoners and the martyrs [to Lebanon] - especially the great fighter Samir al-Quntar and the martyred fighter Dalal al-Mughrabi, who led the most glorious martyrdom operation in the history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict."

Hamas Asks Egypt to Help Save "Mother of Martyrs"

Miriam was Moses' sister. The Torah states:

"And the King of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, one was Shifrah and the name of the second was Puah." (Exodus 1:15)

Who was Shifrah and who was Puah? What do we learn from their names? Rabbi Zelig Pliskin teaches:

Rashi, the 13th century French commentator, informs us that Shifrah was a second name for Yocheved, Mose's mother. She was called Shifrah (from the Hebrew root "L'shahper" - to make better) because she did things for the betterment of the infants in her care.

Puah was another name for Miriam, Mose's sister. She was called Puah because of the comforting sounds ("poo poo") she would make to the infants as mothers do to calm a crying baby.

Yocheved and Miriam have a special place in the Torah as Shifrah and Puah because of their compassion for babies.

When you experience love and compassion for others, you are emulating the attributes of the Almighty. The greater your act of kindness, the more elevated you become. An infant or young child who experiences warmth and love grows up to be a more loving person. This early conditioning will have life-long positive effects. Such a child will find it much easier to feel love for the Almighty and love for his fellow man. Whenever you make a young child feel good, be aware of the extent of your kindness. The deeper your appreciation for the kindness you are doing, the more elevated you become.

Miriam Farhat, the Palestinian mother whose praise for her three dead sons earned her the title "Mother of Martyrs," was reported Thursday to be in critical condition after suffering a massive heart attack.

Farhat's son Muhammad killed five teenagers and wounded 23 people at Atzmona in a 2002 attack. After the death of her first son, Farhat admitted in interviews with Arab media that she encouraged her other sons to follow in his footsteps and become martyrs: "I encouraged all my sons to die a martyr's death." She said she wished she had 100 sons to sacrifice that way.

Farhat, 59, was elected as a Hamas parliamentary representative in 2006. Hamas seized the opportunity of her illness to exert pressure on the Egyptians to reopen the Rafah border crossing so that she could be transferred to an Egyptian hospital. Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum accused PA leader Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak of "participating in the siege on Gaza."

"The Mother of Martyrs is dying and the Arab world does not seem to care," said a Hamas representative.

Israelis Ordered to Leave Sinai Immediately, Terror Alert

The National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Bureau issued a warning Tuesday afternoon to Israeli citizens to avoid traveling in the Sinai Peninsula. According to the report, intelligence sources received a credible terror alert of an immediate threat of attack by a terror cell operating in Sinai.

"Activity by terrorist elements in the Sinai Peninsula, who are working in order to abduct Israelis raises the possibility that they intend to perpetrate such an abduction in the very near, even immediate, future," said the warning.

Officials emphasized that the intelligence sources for the report were extremely reliable.

This warning is the latest in a host of other alerts warning Israelis against travel in the Sinai Peninsula, where terrorists from Gaza and elsewhere often gather.

Middle East envoy Tony Blair also faced credible threats to his life by Arab terrorists Tuesday morning, suddenly changing his plans to visit Gaza after receiving an intelligence warning from the Israeli government.

The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) told Associated Press it had received “pinpoint information that Palestinians were planning to attack Blair in Gaza, so the relevant services alerted him to the fact.”

The threat, said the agency, was “specific” and “credible.”

The former British prime minister has been largely responsible for the wealth of economic development funds that have been funneled to the Hamas terrorist-run region since the group seized control of the area in June 2007.

The Canadian Internet service provider iWeb recently removed three websites powered by Hamas and Hizbullah - both designated as terrorist organizations in Canada. Jonathan Halevi, co-founder of the Orient Research Group Ltd. and a senior researcher of the Middle East and radical Islam at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, had filed a complaint after discovering that an official Hamas website was being hosted in Canada. After reporting that Hizbullah may be activating sleeper cells in Canada, CBC questioned iWeb about two additional websites, one promoting Hizbullah and the other in support of Hamas, both of which were eventually taken down.

According to Halevi, as much as 95% of online activity powered by terrorist organizations, including al-Qaeda and Hamas, is hosted by American servers.

"Nobody is getting sued for supporting terrorist organizations on the Web. There is an urgent need for an international Internet police," he said.

An Israeli was wounded early Friday when a Palestinian opened fire at his vehicle near the Yakir Junction in the West Bank. IDF forces scoured the area for the terrorist, who opened fire at the soldiers and wounded one.

The terrorist was killed during the exchange of fire.

The injured Israeli told soldiers that the decision to continue driving after being shot at apparently saved his life. Palestinian security officials said the gunman was a member of Hamas who was wanted by Israel.

A Hamas cell that was plotting suicide attacks inside Israel with chemical explosives was arrested in May by the Israel Security Agency and the IDF, security officials announced Tuesday. The cell was involved in manufacturing a bomb belt that was discovered in a Tel Aviv apartment on Yom Kippur, last September, and was designated for use in a suicide attack in the city. The IDF arrested four members of the cell, all residents of Nablus. One cell member, Ayman Awad, served a prison sentence in Israel for involvement in dispatching a suicide bomber several years ago. During their interrogation, the four confessed to building a laboratory where they experimented building bombs with different chemical materials, using an instructional video prepared by a senior Hamas bomb-maker.

Hamas TV glorifies soldier kidnapping

As Israel, Hamas and Hezbollah negotiate the release of Israeli soldiers captured in terror attacks, Hamas is sowing the seeds of the next kidnapping. Hamas TV is broadcasting a video clip showing Hamas training exercises that include the simulated kidnapping of an Israeli soldier. The segment includes an Israeli tank exploding, followed by images of a Hamas fighter carrying and running with a captured Israeli soldier.

The Hamas Interest in the Tahdiya (Temporary Truce) with Israel

We can deconstruct the myth of Muslim moderates when researching the Muslim enemy's modus operandi on how it defrauds and stalks its Jewish prey. Via JCPA:

Hamas regards the temporary cease-fire as a tahdiya and not a hudna. A tahdiya - "a period of calm" - is used by Hamas to describe a simple cease-fire. A hudna implies recognition of the other party's actual existence, without acknowledging its legitimacy.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera (April 26, 2008), Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal clarified that for Hamas, a tahdiya is "a tactic in conflict management." He added that it "is not unusual for the resistance...to escalate sometimes and to retreat a bit sometimes as the tide does....The tahdiya creates a formulation that will force Israel...to remove the siege...and if it happens it will be a remarkable achievement."

Official sources in Israel have explained that Hamas' interest in a lull in the fighting is a result of its "distress." But the organization did not experience "distress." Hamas has introduced and maintained law and order in Gaza, strengthened its overall control, suppressed opposition, and achieved broad popular support for its policies.

An important objective for Hamas is winning the Palestinian presidential election, which will be held when Mahmoud Abbas finishes his term of office in December. The lull will permit Hamas to prepare the field to take over from Abbas. Hamas is liable to claim that, according to Palestinian law, administrative authority should be passed on to the chairman of the parliament, who is a Hamas leader, or should be decided by the parliament itself, where Hamas has an overwhelming majority.

One diplomatic consequence of the tahdiya will be increasing pressure on Israel to accept a future reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah. That could lead to increasing demands on Israel to negotiate a permanent status arrangement with a joint Hamas-Fatah government, while Hamas remains committed to its political program of the elimination of Israel.

The cease-fire also grants Hamas a golden opportunity to expand its military build-up for the next round of terror and violence. Emulating Hizbullah's strategy, Hamas is striving to acquire longer-range and more destructive missiles to be used for deterrence and as a sword on Israel's neck.

Israeli intelligence officials believe Hamas currently has, in Gaza, several hundred factory-made BM-21 rockets, each with a range of 20 km. They also have 6-km.-range B-12 rockets. The locally-made Kassam II has about the same range, but the B-12 is more reliable.

In 2002, Hamas began firing Kassam I rockets at Jewish settlements in Gaza and into southern Israel. By 2003, there was the Kassam II, with a range of 8 km. The Kassam III has a range of 10 km.

By June 2004, about 200 Kassams had been fired into southern Israel. By the end of 2005, over 400 Kassams had been fired at Israeli targets. In the next six months, another 600 rockets were fired. About a thousand Kassams were fired into Israel during 2006. This doubled, to two thousand in 2007, and during the first four months of 2008, another 2,000 were fired.

For every 30-40 Kassams fired, an Israeli is killed or wounded. Hamas has hopes that someday soon they will attack in conjunction with Hizbullah firing rockets into northern Israel, and Iran firing rockets into Tel Aviv.

On the program, Amin Dabur, head of the Palestinian Center for Strategic Research, lied while stating that "the Israeli Holocaust - the whole thing was a joke, and part of the perfect show that [Zionist leader and future Israeli prime minister] Ben Gurion put on." The "young energetic and able" were sent to Israel, while the handicapped were sent "so there would be a Holocaust."

The continuing tragedy of Gaza is that it was supposed to offer Palestinians an opportunity to show they were ready for self-government after Israel withdrew in August 2005. Unfortunately, the Strip has descended into poverty and chaos, a launching pad for thousands of rockets targeted at Israel's civilian population. The Israeli government claims Hamas has created a dishonest fuel crisis in an attempt to court international leverage and insists that enough fuel is stored in Gaza to cover essential humanitarian needs. As the government, it is the responsibility of Hamas to get the fuel moving. If, however, it is political pointscoring motivating Hamas' failure to get the fuel and food moving, it is further proof, if any was needed, of its true nature. Hamas is showing the world that anybody who believes that Israel is the worst enemy of the Palestinian people needs to think again. The impasse does not advance hopes of a workable, two-state solution.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in the West Bank on Sunday accused the Islamist Hamas movement of preventing the delivery of fuel oil to hospitals in Gaza.

"Members of Hamas in Gaza opened fire on Sunday on fuel trucks that were full of fuel destined for hospitals in the territory," the ministry said. Israel says it cannot deliver any more fuel as the tanks on the Palestinian side of the fuel terminal are full because Hamas will not allow the distribution of the one million liters of petrol and diesel stored there.

The [EU] president condemns such actions, which only lead to further suffering of the population." Senior Israeli Foreign Ministry officials said this was one of the few times that an EU statement had actually condemned Hamas by name.
