How would the MSM cover "Chocolate Mohammed" at Ramadan?

Michelle Malkin asks "How would the MSM cover an artist exhibition of a "Chocolate Mohammed" timed to coincide with Ramadan? They wouldn't."

Michelle continues:

Wall-to-wall coverage. "Chocolate Jesus" is on Fox, MSNBC, and ABC. And CNN. And all over the web. No pixelation. No withholding the photos in the name of respect for Christianity. No taboos.

Where's the MSM's concern for avoiding deliberately provocative religious insults now?

"CNN is not showing the negative caricatures of the likeness of Prophet Mohammed because the network believes its role is to cover the events surrounding the publication of the cartoons while not unnecessarily adding fuel to the controversy itself."

"They wouldn't meet our standards for what we publish in the paper," said Leonard Downie, Jr., executive editor of The Washington Post, which ran a front-page story on the issue Friday, but has not published the cartoons. "We have standards about language, religious sensitivity, racial sensitivity and general good taste." ...

At USA Today, deputy foreign editor Jim Michaels offered a similar explanation. "At this point, I'm not sure there would be a point to it," he said about publishing the cartoons. "We have described them, but I am not sure running it would advance the story." Although he acknowledged that the cartoons have news value, he said the offensive nature overshadows that.

The Boston Globe, while acknowledging the right of newspapers to print material that may offend, argues that "newspapers ought to refrain from publishing offensive caricatures of Mohammed in the name of the ultimate Enlightenment value: tolerance."

Folks, this is just detestable hypocrisy from the Arab-loving mainstream media, who deceive their audiences by denying that Islam is fascism, by denying that Islam is an attitude, by denying that Islam at its core is lethally militaristic and institutionalizes homicide. There is an Islamic crusade going on and the mainstream media refuses to see it. When Ahmadinjehad speaks, why doesn't the MSM believe him? When Nasrallah speaks, why don't the MSM believe him? When bin Laden speaks, why doesn't the MSM believe him? This is post-911. There is no excuse for the MSM not to believe mass murderers. The leftwing MSM calls for Americans to behave now just like we did pre-911 but it's utter stupidity. So what if a couple of more buildings go down. So what if a couple of more airliners go down. You see, it didn't happen in their backyards. It happened in downtown Manhattan, D.C., and Pennsylvania, and besides, dahlink, no one goes to those places for vacation anyway.

The truth is that the deaths of innocents caused by Muslim terror are permanent and irreversible, whereas the hardships faced by some Muslims in this country are temporary, reversible. Deaths to Americans and Jews will only cease when attempts to kill Jews and Americans are brought to a halt via persuasive, pro-active, pre-emptive military action.

Period.

Note: Earlier this month, six publicity-seeking imams filed a federal lawsuit against US Airways and the Metropolitan Airports Commission in Minneapolis/St. Paul. The Muslim clerics were removed from their flight last November and questioned for several hours after their suspicious behavior alarmed both passengers and crew members. Minneapolis Star Tribune columnist Katherine Kersten reported last week that the imams, advised by the grievance-mongers at the Council on American-Islamic Relations, also plan to sue "John Does" — innocent bystanders who alerted the authorities about their security concerns. Rep. Steve Pearce, R-N.M., has introduced legislation to protect John Does who report suspicious behavior from legal liability. The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty; talk show host Michael Reagan; Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, who heads the American Islamic Forum for Democracy; and Minnesota lawyer Gerry Nolting have all stepped forward to offer free representation to the imams' targets.

Mohammed Cartoon updates

The lying, jihadist Danish imam who helped instigate the Mohammed cartoon riots by touring the Middle East with bogus pictures it attributed the Jyllands-Post has died (hat tip: Sugiero).

Abu Laban had cancer:

Ahmed Abu Laban, Denmark's most prominent Muslim leader and a central figure in last year's uproar over the Prophet Muhammad cartoons, has died from cancer, his organization said Friday. He was 60. Abu Laban died late Thursday at the Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen after battling lung cancer, said Kasem Ahmad, a spokesman for the Islamic Faith Community.

A Palestinian immigrant who became Denmark's leading imam, Abu Laban was thrust into the international spotlight during the firestorm over the prophet cartoons, when he accused Denmark of being disrespectful of Islam and Muslim immigrants. He angered many Danes by seeking support from the Middle East in his fight against the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, which first published the controversial cartoons. Many blamed him and other Islamic clerics in Denmark for stirring up anger that triggered massive and sometimes violent anti-Danish protests in Muslim countries in January and February last year. The 12 drawings, one of which depicted Muhammad wearing a turban shaped like a bomb, offended many Muslims because Islamic law is interpreted to forbid any depiction of the prophet for fear it could lead to idolatry.

The CT Blog revealed how a delegation of Danish Muslims, led by Copenhagen imam Abu Laban, toured the Middle East in December and showed fabricated cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed in a very offensive fashion, even though the pictures had never appeared on Jyllands Posten. The controversy has now exploded in Denmark. Friday night Danish public television, DR, ran two interesting stories about Abu Laban, the man who organized the delegation's trip to the Middle East. While the first profiled him, showing his extensive links to the Egyptian group Gamaa Islamiya, the second showed his double-talk. Abu Laban, in fact, was first shown speaking on Danish television condemning the boycott of Danish goods (in English), then shown interviewed on al Jazeera, cheerfully commenting on the effectiveness of the boycott (in Arabic).

See-Dubya, who is subbing in for Michele Malkin on her blog while she hunts down Jamil Hussein who might, or might not exist, writes about the Times of London which is suggesting the theory was that since Hitler's crazy-evil leadership was hampering the German war effort, it was in the Allies' interest to keep him alive and not let someone more competent take over. This may be the reasoning behind a real-life decision by the Brits not to promote a suicide mission to kill Hitler by a safecracker and explosives expert named Eddie Chapman. Chapman had been sprung from prison in the Jersey Islands by the Germans, who recruited him as a spy. Chapman promptly defected to MI5 and volunteered to use the trust of his German spymasters to get close to Hitler and blow him up. Instead, he went back and served out the war as a double agent working for England, but so convincing that the Germans gave him an Iron Cross. Read about it here.

They Dare Call It Treason (Finally)

Finally. Via FrontPage, a magazine which is always on the leading edge of righteousness:

In a stunning reversal of United States policy that has been in place since the end of World War II, turncoat citizen Adam Gadahn has been indicted for the constitutional crime of treason. (The second count of the indictment charges him with the crime of providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.)

Eight treason indictments and convictions of Americans came out of World War II. One resulted from mistreatment of prisoners of war held in Japan. Two arose from spying activities in the United States. Four, including a case against the infamous Axis Sally, were for making propaganda broadcasts on behalf of the Nazis. The fifth was for similar broadcasts by the equally infamous Tokyo Rose.

All eight indictments and convictions were based on Article III, Section 3, Paragraph 1, of the Constitution of the United States: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or, in adhering to their Enemies, giving them aid and comfort."

The "aid and comfort" prong of treason has been interpreted by the Supreme Court of the United States to require proof of four elements:

1. an intent to betray the United States (which can be inferred from);
2. an overt act;
3. witnessed by two people; and
4. that provides aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States.

After World War II, a notorious example of treason was Jane Fonda’s 1972 trip to Hanoi. As Erika Holzer and I proved conclusively in our "Aid and Comfort": Jane Fonda in North Vietnam, Hanoi Jane was indictable for, and could have been convicted of, treason because of her activities. Regrettably, Fonda was not indicted because of political calculations made at the highest level of the Nixon administration—just as other kinds of political reasons since 1972 prevented treason charges from being brought against a host of other traitors since then. For example, charges other than treason were brought against Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, Navy spies in the Walker family, renegade CIA and FBI agents Aldrich and Miller, and Taliban John Walker. And, as of today at least, no charges of any kind have been leveled against The New York Times and other newspapers for their treasonous exposure of three highly secret government programs that served as integral parts of America’s war against Islamic terrorists.

Oriana Fallaci, R.I.P

Oriana Fallaci, one of Italy's best-known writers and war correspondents who goaded the world's great and issued a vitriolic assault on Islam after the September 11 attacks on the United States, died on Friday aged 77.

Al-Zawahri: Gulf, Israel Next Targets

I am pissed. I've had it. Every god damned day there's another threat from some Muslim who wants to kill a Jew or an American. A muzbot just like Ayman al-Zawahri. Ayman al-Zawahri, Osama bin Laden's deput, just warned that Persian Gulf countries and Israel would be al-Qaida's next targets, according to a new videotape aired by Al-Jazeera today, the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Addressing the West, the puke Ayman al-Zawahri said: "You should not waste your time in reinforcing your troops in Iraq and Afghanistan because they are doomed to defeat and are already all but defeated."

Well, let me tell you something, Ayman al-Zawahri. We are nowhere near defeated. See, we already won the first battle against your twisted Muslim doctrine on Flight 93. On that flight on 9-11-01, an American named Todd Beamer, along with some co-passengers, obliterated your fellow sycophants on board because Todd and several others were brave Americans who were convinced that if anyone was going to take them down, they were gonna take their enemies down with them- and that's what they did. See, we have forensic proof that Todd Beamer and his co-passengers slaughtered your Muslim bruthas before they could scream allah - because we heard him say on the record - "Are you guys ready? Let's roll!".

See, we Americans believe that if we're going go down, we're going to take our enemies down with us. And that's what the American passengers did on Flight 93. They gutted your Muslim bruthas before they had a chance to carry out their detestable act to commit genocide against Americans. That one incident is one of our most memorable recollections of your miserable failure as a culture and as an ethnic group and as a religion. You failed from day one. Wait, let me clarify, you have failed for fourteen hundred years. September 11, 2001 was no different.

Now let me tell you what else is in store for you. See, we learned that Abu Hamza al-Muhajer just urged his followers to kill at least one American in the next two weeks using a sniper rifle, explosive or "whatever the battle may require," according to an audiotape that aired Thursday on Al-Jazeera.

You don't know Americans. Some states allow their citizens to own guns. And rifles. And carbines. And automatics. And let me reassure you, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, that if you and your sycophants decide to kill one American, there's going to be another American somewhere else who's going aim right back at one of you. You don't know what Americans are really made of. See, we're not at all like Cindy Sheehan the misfit. She's an unloved, ugly, abnormal personality who is in need of some medicine and no one really cares about her because if they did, they would wisk her off to some ward and treat her mental illness.

We are, instead, like this. We are brave, angry, and righteous.

We will not submit. We won't tolerate your detestable claims that it is ok to kill in the name of Islam. We say to you, "lan astaslem". We say to you that your "religion" is a manufactured entity. We know that Islam is not a religion, but an attitude. Islam is a smoke-screen to kill the gullible. Islam at its core is lethally militaristic and institutionalizes homicide.

The United States will not show fear in the face of regimes that are markedly inferior in both moral standing and material strength. Do you really think the longer you keep up your threats, the more scared we're going to be? What's to be afraid of? Sure you're violent drooling idiots but BIG deal, you're not bullet proof.

I speak for the overwhelming majority of Americans when I say we are tired of having to endure the trumped-up concoction of superstitions and deceit which is Islam, merely because the world was cursed by having its main energy source located under the feet of savages.

I do hope that our own internal culture war will sort itself out, because until it does, Islam will unfortunately flourish in the United States and abroad, but until then, we leave you to rot in your own savagery. A religion of peace doesn't kill its converts or its critics. We didn't ask for this war, and we all wish it was over. We all know that the other stuff in Islam is just window-dressing, a facade to give the impression that it's a religion to naive infidels, and to give the non-jihadi ones something to do in their spare time, between breeding and learning how to become jihadis, or supporting the jihad in some other non-combatant way. But the war won't be over until we are victorious. It might not be today, it might not be tomorrow, but one day we are going to whup your medieval asses all the way back to the 14th century. No matter how long it takes, America will find you and bring you to justice. That is our guarantee.

Mitt vs. the Mullahs by Ben Johnson

Next week, Mitt Romney will do what the State Department should have done months ago: declare former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami persona non grata on American soil.

Romney has stated he will not expend Bay State resources to safeguard the pseudo-“reformer” as he addresses Harvard on September 10th…and 11th.“State taxpayers should not be providing special treatment to an individual who supports violent jihad and the destruction of Israel,” Romney affirms. He calls the speech “a disgrace to the memory of all Americans who have lost their lives at the hands of extremists, especially on the eve of the five-year anniversary of 9/11,” noting it will consist of “propaganda, pure and simple.”

The speech certainly has an element of the fantastic about it. The former president of a repressive Islamic theocracy will address the John F. Kennedy School of Government on the Orwellian theme, the “Ethics of Tolerance in the Age of Violence.”

That Khatami will speak at Harvard is nearly as predictable as his earlier public speaking engagement – the Islamic Society of North America’s 43rd annual convention in Chicago, at which he accused the United States of implementing “policies that cause the intensification of terrorism and institutionalized violence.” Some have found parallels between Khatami’s fevered anti-Semitic ramblings and the conclusions of JFK School Dean Stephen Walt, who co-wrote the quasi-conspiratorial article, “The Israel Lobby.” The glowing biography on the Harvard website refers to the education of “His Excellence Mr. Khatami” in the “holy city of Qom” and his governmental service during the “Iraqi imposed war.” It must only sting Harvard’s ego that a Taliban representative had already been taken.

The intolerance and violence Khatami personally enacted should have deprived him of a visa to enter this country. The mullahs’ frontman from August 1997-August 2005, Khatami presided over the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism. As Ken Timmerman noted last week, he played a role in “the creation of Hezbollah.” Financing the terrorist organization through his presidency, he renewed his praise as recently as July, during the Hezbollah-Israeli war, at which time he gushed, “Hezbollah is like a shining sun that illuminates and warms the hearts of all Muslims and supporters of freedom in the world.” As president, he also refused to turn over the agents responsible for the Khobar Towers bombing and accelerated Tehran’s covert nuclear program.

Although Khatami gave Hezbollah, Hamas, and PFLP millions of dollars in aid and comfort, his most disconcerting benevolence toward murderers was that given to al-Qaeda’s 9/11 masterminds. The 9/11 Commission Report stated, “we now have evidence suggesting that 8 to 10 of the 14 Saudi ‘muscle’ [al-Qaeda] operatives traveled into or out of Iran between October 2000 and February 2001.” Moreover, “Al-Qaeda members received advice and training from Hezbollah” – all during President Khatami’s second term.

If the State Department had the sense to revoke Tariq Ramadan’s visa or deny Cat Stevens entrance to the country for far lesser offenses, why is President Khatami currently on U.S. soil? And why are U.S. taxpayers, via the State Department, footing the bill to protect a man whose life has been spent plotting their annihilation?

Though Romney will not provide state protection for Khatami, the turbaned Persian will not be defenseless: the State Department will handle his security, assuring he remains unmolested. (It should be no small comparison that if any Iranian official were to withhold protection from a visiting American dignitary, it would mean certain death – excepting perhaps Jimmy Carter, for whom the Islamists should harbor considerable gratitude.) Still, Khatami should never have been allowed to set foot on U.S. soil, much less have been able to use the red carpet treatment accorded him by one of the nation’s most prestigious universities to criticize his host nation – at taxpayer expense. Mitt Romney has the common sense Foggy Bottom lacks.

The Massachusetts governor has compiled an impressive record of assisting the federal government on Homeland Security matters – in this case, negatively, by withholding state troopers. Last month upon hearing of the foiled airline bombing plot in London, he called the National Guard to Logan International Airport, the departure point for two of the three planes hijacked on 9/11.

His approach to Homeland Security has underscored the importance of federal-state synergy. “It's the state’s responsibility to figure out how to gather that information and fuse it together…to determine where the real threats exist,” Romney said. In 2004, he opened “The Fusion Center” at Framingham State Police headquarters. There, Massachusetts state officials analyze intelligence data and forward potential terrorist tips to federal authorities.

(This synergistic approach to federalism has bled over into related issues, as well; Romney wants to allow State Troopers to arrest illegal aliens.)

He has labored, in vain, to reintroduce the death penalty for terrorists, cop killers, and those who kill more than one person in Michael Dukakis’s state.

Unlike his senator, John Kerry, he does not regard anti-terrorism as “primarily” an “intelligence-gathering, law enforcement, public-diplomacy effort.” Romney’s prescription stands in stark contrast: “It is virtually impossible to have a homeland security system based upon the principles only of protecting key assets and response…[which] begins with effective prevention, and, for me, prevention begins with intelligence and counterterror activity.”

To this end, just under one year ago, Romney gave a speech at the Heritage Foundation asking:

How many individuals are coming to our state and going to those institutions who have come from terrorist-sponsored states? Are we know where they are? Are we tracking them?

How about people who are in settings – mosques, for instance – that may be teaching doctrines of hate and terror: Are we monitoring that? Are we wiretapping? Are we following what's going on?

For this, he was ritually denounced by Ali Noorani, executive director of the Massachusetts Immigrants and Refugee Advocacy Coalition – a group whose political advocacy is in part funded by Teresa Heinz Kerry’s tax-exempt charities – and the ACLU (ditto). Their outrage may have been better directed at those who use holy places as convenient cover or twist religious doctrines to condone the murder of innocents.

People like President Mohammad Khatami.

In all, Romney – the political scion with matinee idol good-looks, affability, and charisma – has compiled a record enviable for any candidate potentially running for president in an election cycle dominated by the War on Terrorism. His refusal to aid Khatami is but one more example.

Muslims threaten the forefront experts on Islam

In the 48-minute video posted on an Islamic militant website last Saturday which I posted about here, al-Qaeda's No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahri appears with Adam Yehiye Gadahn, a 28-year-old American convert to Islam and threatens invites the forefront experts on Islam to convert: Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer, Michael Scheuer, and Steven Emerson. Here is Daniel Pipes reply:

In a statement today, Al-Qaeda's American rep, Adam Gadahn (né Adam Perlman, whom the FBI seeks "in connection with possible terrorist threats against the United States"), has this to say:

If the Zionist crusader missionaries of hate and counter-Islam consultants like Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer, Michael Scheuer, Steven Emerson, and yes, even the crusader-in-chief George W. Bush were to abandon their unbelief and repent and enter into the light of Islam and turn their swords against the enemies of God, it would be accepted of them and they would be our brothers in Islam."

So, Al-Qaeda wants me and my "sword" (a reference, presumably, to my computer keyboard) to join its efforts. My response to Gadahn:

I note your offer for me to change sides in the current war. But I am faithful to my own religion, to my own country, and to my civilization. I will do my part to defeat radical, totalitarian Islam and to usher in the emergence of a modern, moderate, and good-neighborly Islam in its place.

By way of postscript, Gadahn praises three Westerners: Seymour Hersh, George Galloway, and Robert Fisk. This is in keeping with Osama bin Laden's praising William Blum.

Folks, you better get on the horn and start raising the alarm about the audacious supremacy of Islam and its fanatical adherents. Start spreading the word and warn others because soon you and your family will be threatened invited to participate in this cult too.

The Great Ambulance Hoax: All your fakes are belong to us

Yup, the Muslims who interface with the terror group, Hezbollah, lied again and set all of you up. Via Michelle Malkin:

On August 6, I linked to Dan Riehl's excellent post raising questions and doubts (his initial post here) about the alleged missile targeting by Israel of the Red Cross ambulances. Infinitives Unsplit first called attention to the dubious ambulance claims on July 27.

Now, Internet documentarian and photojournalist Zombie has compiled a damning, in-depth report on the ambulance claims that the MSM swallowed whole: "The Red Cross Ambulance Incident: How the Media Legitimized an Anti-Israel Hoax and Changed the Course of a War." The intro:

On the night of July 23, 2006, an Israeli aircraft intentionally fired missiles at and struck two Lebanese Red Cross ambulances performing rescue operations, causing huge explosions that injured everyone inside the vehicles. Or so says the global media, including Time magazine, the BBC, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and thousands of other outlets around the world. If true, the incident would have been an egregious and indefensible violation of the Geneva Convention, and would constitute a war crime committed by the state of Israel.

But there's one problem: It never happened.

I urge you to go to Zombie's site, and review the evidence that Hezbollah set up the Red Cross ambulance fraud and sold it - hook, line and sinker - to the Mainstream Media - who then pitched the lie to you, your co-workers, your aerobics classmates, your beer buddies and the rest of the civilized world. The MSM pitched you a lie - a manufactured entity - shoved it down our throats, never corroborated the evidence against the facts on the table in the similar way to the lie they forced down our throats that "palestine" is a real country. I ask you - are you getting disgusted by the left, who are destructive and dangerous to the rest of us? I sure am. I have had it with their propaganda. The media is detestable. Aacckk, I've been Memed

Ze'ev, of Israel Perspectives, has tagged me to do the latest Meme, What's On Your I-Pod? that is making it's way around the Jewish Blogsphere. However, this Meme has morphed. While it initially started off being a Meme about what 15 songs are on your I-Pod - and since Ze'ev didn't have an I-Pod, he morphed the Meme to be what 15 books are you reading, have recently read or would reccommend.

Now the challenge for me is I don't read books too often being a news junkie instead and I prefer to surf the web and visit sites like Front Page, Drudge Report, Power Line, Michelle Malkin, Discover the Network, World Net Daily, Israel Daily Alert, Jihad Watch and Coast to Coast AM. Wait, I forgot - I also flip through magazine articles while sitting in patient waiting rooms and I have a few dozen references I refer to often. Well, instead of blathering on about how I don't read, I will list what I do read, have read, have flipped through, have ear-marked, have picked up but haven't finished and one audio-tape title. Are audio-tape titles allowed? Even if they are not, I now enable them to be.

I saw Joan Peters interviewed on The Zola Levitt Show and she stated that when she first went to Israel to research this book, she was pro-palestinian. 4. Entebbe - A Defining Moment in the War on Terrorism by Iddo Netanyahu. Thos who guard freedom must be very courageous to preserve for future generations the truth that good is stronger than evil. Think 9/11 and how this country is ashamed that we are fighting for freedoms that millions of Muslims don't want us to have.

5. Eye to Eye - Facing the Consequences of Diving Israel by William Koenig. I haven't read this book yet but all of the major catastrophes in U.S. history transpired on the very same day or within 24 hours of US President's Bush, Clinton and Bush applying pressure on Israel to give up land for false promises of peace and security. That's what this book is about.

6. Muhammad's Monsters - A Comprehensive Guide to Radical Islam for Western Audiences edited by David Bukay. Obvious.

7. Myths and Facts - A Guide to the Arab-Israeli Conflict by Mitchell Bard. Whoever can spell Israel is ordered to get this book, read it, memorize it, and stand with us against those who are against Israel.

Update on the Oklahoma University jihadist bomber

Folks, here's an interesting update on the Oklahoma University bomber Joel "Henry" Hinrichs III story, the story that the MSM doesn't want to talk about: the warrant used to execute a search of Hinrich's apartment, where an undetermined amount of explosives were found, has been sealed by a federal court at the request of the Justice Department.

As you may already know, Hinrichs blew himself up yards from Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Saturday night while tens of thousands of fans watched an OU-Kansas State football game.

Bob Troester, first assistance U.S. attorney in Oklahoma City, said the department requested the warrant be sealed, but declined to elaborate when asked why it was necessary to do so given previous media reports that a depressed Hinrichs acted alone and on a whim. "You can draw whatever assumption you like," he said. "We don't comment on any sealed indictments."

More Muslim "Hate Crime" Myths

Daniel Pipes writes:

I published an article "'Islamophobic Prejudice' and CAIR," that documents how one Mirza Akram of Everett, Washington, plastered vile anti-Arab graffiti on the store he was managing and planning to buy before allegedly setting fire to it.

Well, the ever-vigilant Michelle Malkin, in a May 29, 2003 article titled "Myth of the Muslim hate crime epidemic" and a May 30, 2003 article titled "More Muslim hate crime myths" provides specifics of four other instances in which American Muslims – Ahmad Saad Nasim, Mazhar Tabesh, Nezar "Mike" Maad, and Aqil Yassom Al-Timimi – won themselves vast sympathy as victims of "hate crimes," only to have it turn out that they were actually the perps. She notes that what she calls "hoax crimes" have a real price: they "waste precious investigative resources, exacerbate racial tension, create terror and corrode goodwill."

In all, then, there are at least five cases proven or alleged hoax crimes since 9/11; how many more might there be that no one has counted? Malkin wonders about this too, noting that

when it comes to cracking down on hate crime hoaxes by Arabs and Muslims, the feds—too busy conducting politically correct "outreach" with Muslim leaders who pooh-pooh hate crime fraud—have been appallingly negligent. There is no way of knowing whether fake hate crimes outnumber real anti-Muslim crimes because no law enforcement agency keeps track. (Note to frustrated cops: Send me your suspected hoax cases and let's get started.)

She also blames journalists for ignoring this phenomenon: "It's a shame so many in the media are more concerned with protecting the twisted cult of victimhood than with exposing hard truths." (August 25, 2004)

Sept. 30, 2004 update: Add a sixth apparent fraudster, Amjad Abunar, to the five above. Here is the text of an article titled "Hate-Crime Accuser Charged With Arson":

McALLEN, Tex., Sept. 29 - The owner of a Middle Eastern meat market who had said he was the victim of a hate crime in this border town was arrested and arraigned Tuesday [Sept. 28] on a felony arson charge that he set fire to his own business. The man, Amjad Abunar, had complained that "Go Home" was twice spray-painted on a door of his Al Madinah Market before a fire on Aug. 6 that gutted the small delicatessen. Only last week, the graffiti and fire were cited as evidence by a Washington advocacy group that hate crimes against Muslims were on the rise in Texas. Bond for Mr. Abunar was set at $150,000, and he remained in jail on Wednesday. [DP: hyperlink added]

And which "Washington advocacy group" might that be? Why, CAIR of course. The article goes on:

Representatives of the advocacy group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which had complained that McAllen officials were not investigating the fire as a possible hate crime, said they were stunned Wednesday to learn of Mr. Abunar's arrest. Ibrahim Hooper, a council official in Washington, said Mr. Abunar had assured him he had nothing to do with setting the fire.

One wonders if, after they get over being "stunned," whether CAIR will retract the strong statements it made about Amjad Abunar or whether – as it did in the case of Mirza Akram – just go mute.

Feb. 6, 2005 update: Belatedly, here is the scoop on a seventh "hate crime" hoax, this one perpetrated by Saleh Nawash, 54. A naturalized U.S. citizen who emigrated from Lebanon, Nawash is a leader at the Islamic Mosque of Cleveland. He owned a meat store called Halal Products (halal is the Islamic equivalent of kosher) and in July 2002 he pleaded guilty to conspiracy, attempted aggravated arson, and attempted insurance fraud. When Halal Products failed, reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer (not online), Nawash coveted the $100,000 insurance policy on the business and hired an arsonist to do the dirty deed. The prosecutor provided details on how he left kerosene in the building and how, to win sympathy, he plotted to make the fire look like a hate crime. Nawash received a jail sentence of nine years; his side-kick Ahmed Jaffal, 49, got eight years.

Michelle Malkin: Another Muslim Sniper?

Michelle Malkin, the insightful, intelligent, brilliant journalist, reports the following:

"Michael Wagner" is a black Muslim convert who was pulled over by an Iowa State Trooper for not wearing a seatbelt. No doubt the professional grievance-mongers are rushing to provide their pro bono services to an innocent man wrongfully profiled by racist cops. Never mind what was in his car:

- A 9mm pistol

- Three bulletproof vests

- Hundreds of rounds of ammunition

- A flight simulator and a bag of flight manuals dating to 2001

- A 5-foot telescope hooked to camera equipment

- Night-vision goggles and a night-vision rifle scope found in a hollowed-out computer

- Books written in Arabic, including the Koran, along with hundreds of pages printed from the Internet on the Iraq war and terrorism

Just as Customs agent Diana Dean pulled over Ahmed Ressam for acting nervously and conducted a vehicle search that saved untold lives by averting the Los Angeles millenium bomb plot, Iowa State Trooper Kenneth Haas decided to search Wagner's vehicle during a routine traffic stop because Wagner repeatedly gave a false name, couldn't produce an identification card, and showed signs of nervousness.

Wagner reportedly told a federal agent about "a man in San Diego who he said wanted him to shoot at trolleys there...Wagner also told the agent "he knew of activities and people involved in al-Qaida and Taliban."

Better keep an eye on this story.
