While many hear (quite a bit now, during our presidential campaign) about the legacy of slavery in the United States, and many know of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, very few know that there was a slave trade that preceded and continued to the present day that was far worse. That was and is the Arab/Muslim slave trade.

"I thought of it as an act of violence motivated by hatred of Israel and of anybody who supported Israel," said Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard law professor who had worked on Kennedy's campaign as a volunteer adviser. "It was in some ways the beginning of Islamic terrorism in America. It was the first shot. A lot of us didn't recognize it at the time." A year after Kennedy's death, former UN Ambassador Arthur Goldberg - for whom Dershowitz had clerked on the Supreme Court and with whom he shared a fervent Zionism - told Dershowitz that [the Palestinian assassin] Sirhan had identified Goldberg as a potential target, too.

A generation of revelations about Sirhan's motives - and a changed environment in which Americans have come to fear political violence with origins abroad - have drawn out his crime as a prelude to the kidnappings at the Munich Olympics, the hijacking of the cruise ship Achille Lauro, and the two assaults on the World Trade Center. "Even though it wasn't perceived at the time as an act of political terrorism, on a visceral level - on a subliminal level - the Kennedy assassination planted a seed of concern in Americans about the Palestinian issue and the issue of terrorism," said Michael Oren, a senior fellow at the Shalem Center in Jerusalem.

Abdurrahman Wahid, 67, the former Indonesian president and a leading Muslim scholar, revealed the root of his understanding of the risks and perils of Jewish existence. Wahid was a student at Baghdad University in 1966, earning his keep as a secretary at a textile importer, when he befriended the firm's elderly accountant, an Iraqi Jew he remembers only by his family name, Ramin. In 1968, the Iraqi government effectively had come under the control of Saddam Hussein, who at that time was deputy to the president, Ahmad Hassan al-Bakr. At Saddam's behest, Iraqi courts had convicted 14 Iraqis - nine of them Jews - on trumped-up charges of spying for Israel, and they were hanged in Baghdad's Tahrir Square, just steps away from where the textile firm had offices.

Wahid has gained prominence for his insistence on introducing Muslim nations to certain truths about the Jews. He has called Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a "liar" for denying the Holocaust. Wahid says moderate Islam stands a greater chance of triumphing over Islamic radicalism once Western leaders stop trying to accommodate Islamic extremists. Saudi Arabia, in particular, remains the primary funding source for the global spread of fundamentalist Islam.

Palestinian academics, recognizing the futility of attempting to erase the documented history of the Jews, literally stole the identity of the Jews by identifying ancient Hebrews as both Arabs and Muslims and denying their connection to today's Jews in Israel.

Many PA academics teach that the killing of Jews by Muslims is a precondition of world redemption.

Farfur, the cartoon character on Hamas' children's television program, is a carbon copy of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse. But the Hamas version does something that Mickey would never do: He entertains children while propagating the murder of Jews.

Farfur's appearances are typical of Hamas' anti-Semitic propaganda, which the organization also exports to Germany via satellite, hoping to breed new generations of fanatical anti-Semites and suicide bombers.

According to a 2007 study by the German Interior Ministry on the worldviews of "Muslims in Germany," "anti-Semitic attitudes were found among young Muslims far more often than among non-Muslim immigrants or domestic non-Muslims."

Teachers in Berlin are sometimes confronted with Muslim students who refuse to take part in school trips to concentration camp memorials. During one excursion to the German Historical Museum, a group of Muslim youth gathered in front of a replica of a gas chamber in Auschwitz and applauded.

A trove of anti-Jewish stereotypes that have become the Sharia-based uncontested "truth" about the People of the Book are invariably cited in sermons during Friday prayers, thus assuring their universal diffusion among Muslim constituents and the constant poisoning of the souls of young and adult Muslims alike, something that renders their fundamentally negative attitudes to Jews and Israel unchangeable.

The historical documents make clear that, from day one, Jews and Christians have been systematically treated as second-class citizens, "dhimmis," in the regions conquered by Islam.

Even if there were some sort of Andalusian "golden age" - as academics are fond of reminiscing and insisting - that's exactly all it was, an "age," an "aberration."

Far from being a by-product of Western anti-Semitism or the creation of Israel, animosity toward the Jews has a firm doctrinal base tracing back to Islam's most authoritative texts.

What is Muslim land?

The virus calling itself Osama bin Laden emerged once again to vow in a new audiotape Saturday, that he and his followers will expand the Muslim holy war to Israel, threatening "blood for blood, destruction for destruction." The muslim went on to say "We intend to liberate Palestine, the whole of Palestine from the (Jordan) river to the sea," he said, threatening "blood for blood, destruction for destruction. We will not recognize even one inch for Jews in the land of Palestine as other Muslim leaders have." Same crap, different day.

Let's talk about Muslim land. Who and what are the origins of the hubris of Islam to lay claim to any land it occupies, breaches and terrorizes? What is "Muslim land"? What are its borders? Is the Arabian nation truly one nation? If so, then why are Egyptians called Egyptians and not Arabs? What is the caliphate? The Islamic empires of the Middle Ages were ruled by caliphs. Is there a call to reintroduce the caliphate? Is your land next?

This is from the Turkish branch of Hizb-ut-Tahrir, an international political party whose stated goal is reviving the caliphate – or khilafah:

It was a day like this 79 years ago, and more specifically on the 3rd of March 1924 that...the criminal English agent, Mustafa Kemal (so-called Ataturk, the “Father of the Turks”!) announced that the Grand National Assembly had agreed to destroy the Khilafah; and...the establish...a secular, irreligious, Turkish republic....

Since that day the Islamic ummah [nation, community] has lived a life full of calamities; she was broken up into small mini states controlled by the enemies of Islam in every aspect. The Muslims were oppressed and became the object of the kuffar’s [that is, unbelievers’] derision in Kashmir, Philippines, Thailand, Chechnya, Iraq, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Afghanistan, Palestine and other lands belonging to the Muslims [...]

So the crime took place and the kuffar tightened their grip over the Islamic lands and tore it up into pieces....In place of a single Khilafah state they established cartoon states and installed rulers as agents to carry out the orders of their kuffar masters. They abolished the Islamic Sharee’ah [religious law] from the sphere of ruling, economy, international relations, domestic transactions and judiciary.[...]

“Without the Khilafah, the Islamic lands will remain torn up and the Islamic peoples will remain divided. Without the Khilafah the kafir, crusader and colonial states will continue to control us, plunder our resources and create divisions amongst us. Without the Khilafah, the Jews will continue to occupy our sacred places and kill and humiliate our brothers in Palestine. Without the Khilafah, the Islamic peoples in Bosnia, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kashmir, Uzbekistan and so on will continue to be killed....Without the Khilafah, those Muslims who do not work seriously for its implementation will be sinful and incur the anger of Allâh, even if they fast, pray, make Hajj [pilgrimage] and pay Zakah [alms]. This is because the work to establish the Khilafah Rashidah is a fard [obligation] on every Muslim, and it should be conducted with the most extreme effort and utmost speed.[...]

Well, just from the above passage, we have learned that Muslims believe that they own Bosnia, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kashmir, Uzbekistan, Kashmir, Philippines, and Thailand. They also lay claim to the entity calling itself "palestine" but we already know that "palestine" was never a nation, just another region stolen by and occupied by Muslims. Robert Spencer adds:

And there is something else also. In Islamic law, jihad warfare may be defensive or offensive. Jihad is ordinarily fard kifaya – an obligation on the Muslim community as a whole, from which some are freed if others take it up. Jihad becomes fard ayn, or obligatory on every individual Muslim to aid in any way he can, if a Muslim land is attacked. That is what jihadists argue today – that the American presence in Iraq and Afghanistan makes jihad fard ayn, or obligatory on every individual Muslims.

But still, that is just jihad for the defense of Muslim lands. There is also offensive jihad, in line with Muhammad’s command that Muslims offer non-Muslims conversion to Islam, subjugation as inferiors under Islamic rule, or war. But in Islamic law, only the caliph is authorized to wage offensive jihad.

That’s a primary reason why jihadists want to restore the caliphate. Some would even say that they’ve already done so. In 1996 the Taliban’s Mullah Omar went to the shrine of the Respectable Cloak of Muhammad in Kandahar and stood on the roof of the shrine wrapped in the cloak. His followers proclaimed him Emir al Momineen, or leader of the believers – a title of the caliph. So far, however, only a jihadist group in Algeria has joined the Taliban in accepting Mullah Omar as caliph.

In any case, the desire to restore the caliphate ultimately highlights the expansionist, imperialist, totalitarian, globalist aims of the jihad movement, even as today it presents itself as a defensive action against Western evils. This is, I believe, a crucial point for our understanding the enemy properly, so that we can formulate the proper defensive responses. If we don’t understand what we’re up against correctly, we will not defend ourselves properly against it. And that is, unfortunately, in many ways the fix we’re in today.

Now, by the time of his death in 632 AD, Muhammad had extended his control via raids and battles over most of southern Arabia. Near the end of his life, Muhammad sent letters to the empires of the Middle East demanding their submission to his authority. This dispels any notion that the Muhammad intended Islam's expansion to stop with Arabia. Muhammad fought and crushed the people of the Arabian peninsula. Other Caliphs fought and crushed the people of the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe, all in the name of Allah. Arab Muslim armies occupied and terrorized the Holy Land, conquered what is now Iraq and Iran, then swept west across North Africa, into Spain, and finally into France. Forunately, the Muslim offensive was halted at the Battle of Poitiers/Tours, not far from Paris, in 732 AD. But, in the east, the jihad penetrated deep into Central Asia.

In another excellently researched article, Robert Spencer writes "Almost overnight, the more advanced civilizations of the Middle East, North Africa, Persia, and Iberia saw their agriculture, native religions, and populations destroyed or plundered... jihad engulfed much of the Byzantine, Visigothic, Frankish, and Persian Empires and left the newborn Islamic Empire controlling territory from Southern France, south through Spain, east across North Africa to India, and north to Russia. Early in the second millennium AD, the Mongol invasion from the east greatly weakened the Islamic Empire and ended Arab predominance therein."

Here is a map depicting historical Arab Muslim occupation, land theft, plundering and barbarity, from 632 to 750AD.

Robert Spencer adds,

"Some twenty-five years before the first Crusading army set out from central Europe for the Holy Land, the Turkish (Ottoman) armies began an assault on the Christian Byzantine Empire, which had ruled what is now Turkey since the Roman Empire’s capital was moved to Constantinople in 325 AD. At the battle of Manzikert, in 1071, the Christian forces suffered a disastrous defeat, which left much of Anatolia (Turkey) open to invasion. This second wave of jihad was temporarily held up by the invading Latin Armies during the Crusades (see Islam 101 FAQs), but, by the beginning of the 14th century, the Turks were threatening Constantinople and Europe itself. In the West, Roman Catholic armies were bit by bit forcing Muslim forces down the Iberian peninsula, until, in 1492, they were definitively expelled (the Reconquista).

One of the most significant engagements between the invading Muslims and the indigenous peoples of the region was the Battle of Kosovo in 1389, where the Turks annihilated a multinational army under the Serbian King, St. Lazar, though their progress into Europe was significantly slowed. After numerous attempts dating back to the seventh century, Constantinople, the jewel of Eastern Christendom, finally fell in 1453 to the armies of Sultan Mahomet II. Lest one ascribe the atrocities of the first wave of jihad to the "Arabness" of its perpetrators, the Turks showed they were fully capable of living up to the principles of the Quran and the Sunnah."

Here is a map of the second wave of jihad from 1099 through 1492.We all know the canard perpetrated by Muslims that Muslims are not attacking their enemies, but only counterattacking, so that if non-Muslims would only stop provoking them, all would be well.

Those maps above say otherwise. History says otherwise. That is why when Osama bin Laden talks, he utters orthodox Islam: Muslims must convert non-Muslims by force, if necessary, or otherwise kill them. This is why Islam has been on the attack since its birth in the 7th century AD. Muhammad started fighting to force conversions and his followers continue to fight to this day, hoping to spread Islam throughout the world.

Logical arguments as to why Islam is appealing to so many millions of people are scarce, which is why moderate Islam today is nearly non-existant, and with regards to deception and mendacity, for Muslims, history renews itself each day. This is all the more reason why Osama bin Laden and his vicious followers need to be hunted down, targetted, and destroyed.

So, readers, when Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan, hold an anti-American, anti-Israel demonstration and carry signs bearing slogans such as “US Hands Off Muslim Land”, now you'll know what they're talking about.

President Shimon Peres told Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer on Monday in Jerusalem: "We had a rough day in Sderot. Seven rockets fell and almost killed our children. It's an intolerable situation and there is one address for it - Hamas. There is a limit to how much Israel is willing to tolerate....Israel left Gaza completely. There is not one Israeli citizen in its territory. Today I ask myself why? Why is Hamas shooting? What is its goal? There is only one answer. Hamas is a religious-fanatic organization that does not want a Palestinian state for its people, but wants to impose the dangerous radical religious hegemony that is taking over the entire Middle East and gives a green light to kill innocent people in its name." "Hamas has one goal," he said, "to destroy the State of Israel....While Israel is making great efforts to reach peace with the Palestinians, it has a greater duty to protect the lives of its citizens and its children. The terror must stop."

Less than six years after 9/11, the great Clash of Civilizations has fizzled out. It's been replaced by a civil war within a single civilization. Everywhere, the basic plot is the same: traditional Muslim sheiks and autocrats battling with murderous jihadis for control of Muslim lands. In each case, it is Muslims themselves - not Western soldiers or politicians - who will decide the outcome. Of course, Muslims are still trying to blow up infidels in London and Glasgow, not to mention Tel Aviv, Kashmir and a hundred other places. But with every passing month, Muslim violence becomes more self-directed.

After 9/11, George W. Bush and his international supporters were swept up in a grand Wilsonian project to revamp the political culture of the Muslim world. But six years later, we're largely back on the sidelines, feebly exhorting our chosen autocrats - Musharraf, Abbas, Siniora, al-Maliki, King Hussein, Mubarak, King Abdullah - to "do more to fight terrorism." Most of the Muslim leaders we now are supporting are not democratic folk heroes, but compromised autocrats, although these men are a lot saner than the Islamists they're fighting.

Arabs and erev rav Israelis plan to march against Israel on Yom HaAtzmaut

From INN: On the day most Israelis will be celebrating the 59th Yom Ha'atzmaut, Independence Day, some Arab and left-wing Jewish citizens will march against the foundation of the state.

The Association for the Defense of the Rights of the Internally Displaced (ADRID) is planning to hold its tenth annual Procession of Return. The march, which last year drew hundreds of participants, is set to take place Tuesday, April 24, in the village of Al-Lajjun, adjacent to the northern Arab-Israeli city of Umm Al-Fahm. ADRID was established with the goal of returning Arabs to the houses and villages they or their families left during and after the 1948 War of Independence.

In the 2006 Procession of Return, Arab and left-wing marchers waved PLO flags and black flags "as a clear and decisive statement in the face of the Independence Day celebrations across other Jewish areas of the country," according to Ido Tzvieli, writing in the website of the Israel-based Jewish-Arab Zochrot organization. Zochrot, which will be taking part in the procession in Al-Lajjun, is dedicated to promoting the Arab view of the establishment of the State of Israel as a "day of catastrophe" (Al-Nakba).

Leading Middle East researchers, however, note statements on the issue made by Arab leaders and spokespeople during and after the War of Independence, indicating that Arabs in the land of Israel mostly fled due to Arab propaganda. The Arab leadership promoted libelous accusations against the Jews of Israel and warned Arab villagers to make way for conquering Arab armies.

For example, the New York-based Lebanese daily Al-Hoda wrote that in 1948, Arab League secretary Azzam Pasha "assured the Arab peoples that the occupation of Palestine and of Tel Aviv would be as simple as a military promenade.... Brotherly advice was given to the Arabs of Palestine to leave their land, homes and property, and to stay temporarily in neighbouring fraternal states."

Also during the War of Independence, hundreds of Jews were forced to abandon towns and communities that were conquered by Jordanian, Egyptian and other Arab forces, such as in Jerusalem, Gaza, Hevron and other parts of Judea and Samaria. The lands and homes abandoned by Jews were quickly taken over by Arab soldiers and civilians. In most cases, the properties taken over by Arabs have remained in their possession, even after the 1967 Six Day War, when Israeli forces returned to the areas in question. In addition, in the aftermath of the War of Independence, acts of official and unofficial retaliation against Jewish communities in Arab countries forced upwards of 700,000 Jews to flee their homes and emigrate to Israel and the West, in most cases leaving their possessions behind.

Islam's War in Lebanon Against Christians

Christians are fleeing Lebanon to escape political and economic crises and signs that radical Islam is on the rise in the country. In a poll to be published next month which was exclusively leaked to The Sunday Telegraph, nearly half of all Maronites, the largest Christian denomination in the country, said they were considering emigrating. Of these, more than 100,000 have submitted visa applications to foreign embassies. Their exodus could have a devastating effect on the country, robbing it of an influential minority which has acted as an important counter-balance to the forces of Islamic extremism. About 60,000 Christians have already left since last summer’s war between Israel and Hezbollah. Many who remain fear that a violent showdown between rival Sunni and Shia factions is looming. Lebanon’s Christian community is concerned that its influence is waning as a result of a continuing internal power struggle, which for the past five months has pitted a Sunni-led government against a predominantly Shia opposition, spearheaded by the Shia militant group Hezbollah. The collapse in influence has been exacerbated by a roughly equal spilt in support among Christians for rival Shia and Sunni leaders. The battle between Muslim factions has paralysed the Lebanese administration and crippled the economy.

British Make Arrests in Terrorist Transit Attacks

The London Transit Bombings were merely just another one of Islam's giant carbon footprints, with a little blood and sinew thrown in, for color. Via MyWay:

Counter-terrorist police arrested three men Thursday in the 2005 suicide attacks on the London transit system, the first major development in the investigation in months. Two of the suspects were detained as they prepared to board a flight to Pakistan.

The third man was arrested in Leeds - the northern city that was home to three of the four bombers. Police also raided five properties in the city - at least one on the same street where one of the bombers lived.

"Anybody who imagined that this had simply been treated as four lone wolves or a lone pack of wolves on July 7, 2005 is very wrong," Lord Carlile, the government's independent reviewer of terror laws, told the British Broadcasting Corp. "There is a lot of work going on."

No one has ever been charged in connection with the bombings, which were the deadliest attack on London since World War II. The four bombers and 52 commuters died in blasts on three subway trains and a double-decker bus, and more than 700 people were injured.

None of the men were identified. The two arrested at Manchester Airport were aged 23 and 30 and the third was 26. Under British law, police will have 28 days to question them before they must be charged or released.

Nearly 300 suspected Islamic militants have been arrested in Spain since March 11, 2004, after bombs ripped through four Madrid train stations, killing 191 people and injuring nearly 2,000. Roughly 80% of the militants are from the Maghreb, according to a study by Madrid's Elcano Royal Institute. In February, Ayman al-Zawahri, the No. 2 leader in al-Qaeda, called on

Unfortunately, hatred of Jews runs much longer than a century or so into the past. In fact, it originates not only in the actions of the founder of Islam himself, but also in the eschatological belief-system of the world’s second-largest religion.

In 622 CE the nascent Muslim community under Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, left Mecca in Arabia and headed north to the city of Yathrib. Part forced emigration, part prearranged political move, this hijrah not only marked the beginning of the Muslim calendar but the transition of the Muslims from oppressed minority to ruling majority. The newly-renamed Madinat al-Nabi, “city of the prophet,” became—in its shortened form, Madinah—the capital of an expanding religious, political and military movement that would encompass the entire Arabian peninsula, including Mecca itself, within eight years and then, of course, after another century conquer lands from Iberia to the borders of India.

In the process of the Islamization of Arabia, and a few years before Mecca fell to the Muslims in 630, a paradigm of Muslim-Jewish conflict was established.[2] Several of the tribes of Madinah were Jewish, and refused to accept the prophethood of Muhammad. In fact the leaders of one tribe, the Banu Qurayzah, were reported to have been plotting to have Muhammad killed. After some negotiations and inter-tribal machinations—which included, portentously, Muhammad branding the Qurayzah “brothers of monkeys”[3]—Muhammad allowed “one of [their] own number,” one Sa`d bin Mu’adh, to pronounce judgment on them. His verdict: “the men should be killed, the property divided, and the women and children taken as captives.” The narrative continues:

Then the apostle went out to the market of Medina…and dug trenches in it. Then he sent for them and struck off their heads in those trenches as they were brought out to him in batches….There were 600 or 700 in all, though some put the figure as high as 800 or 900….This went on until the apostle made an end of them.[…] Then the apostle divided the property, wives, and children of B. Qurayza among the Muslims….[4]

Now, this was a brutal time and a brutal society, in many ways. And in his treatment of “unbelievers” Muhammad is not unlike some of the divinely-sanctioned rulers in the Hebrew Scriptures, such as Joshua or David. (He is, however, most unlike the Jesus of the New Testament.) Nonetheless, there is no getting around the fact that the man whom Muslims believe to have been God’s last spokesman on Earth not only denigrated, but ordered the slaughter of, his fellow monotheists—and this long before Theodore Herzl, David Ben-Gurion or Ariel Sharon ever existed.

This pattern set by God’s prophet is particularly influential upon the jihadist wing of world Islam, for whom the example of the early Islamic community is supremely normative. However, there is a powerful eschatological motif in Islam which also contributes immensely to the acrimony that too many Muslims, even non-jihadist, feel towards the Jews: that of al-Dajjal.

The Dajjal, or “The Deceiver,” is one of five major end times actors according to Islamic teachings, and the chief embodiment of evil.[5] In the anti-God camp with him will be the rapacious hordes of Yajuj and Majuj,[6] as well as al-Dabbah, the “Beast.”[7] Opposing these
will be the returned `Isa, or Jesus,[8] and al-Mahdi, the “rightly-guided one.” Jesus, Yajaj and Majuj, and the Dabbah have both Qur’anic and hadith sourcing (hadiths are extra-Qur’anic sayings attributed to Muhammad); however, the Dajjal and the Mahdi appear nowhere in the Qur’an, but only in hadiths—curious, considering that in many ways they are the two most important eschatological figures in Islam.[9]

What is the Hudabaiya / Hudaibiya Treaty?

In 638 CE, Mohammed attempted to conquer the Jewish Koreish tribe in Arabia. When he failed, he made a 10 year peace treaty with the tribe, known as the Treaty of Hudabaiya. Soon after sealing this treaty, Mohammed began reinforcing his military and two years later he violated that treaty, massacring all the men and selling the women and children into forced conversion and slavery.

The Hudaibiya Treaty is used in Sharia law (Islamic law). According to Muhammed Hamidullah, an Arab scholar of Islam, in The Muslim Conduct of State (7th rev'd. ed. Lahore: 1977, p. 266.), "Muslim jurists conclude that treaties of friendship should not be concluded with non-Muslims in perpetuity. Generally the jurists agree that ten years should be the maximum period." This legal precedent is also noted by Bernard Lewis in The Arabs in History (9th ed. Oxford: 1993, p. 43), and probably innumerable other places.

Arafat, and other Palestinian leaders, have used their esteemed prophet's example to explain in Arabic why they make treaties with 'the infidels'. Whether you agree that Mohammed violated the treaty or had just cause (as some Muslim visitors to this website may believe), it does not change the fact that ARAFAT believes that likening the Oslo Accords (and other agreements with Israel) to the Hudabaiya treaty is akin to acknowledging that the agreements between the PLO/PA and Israel are temporary stepping stones to the destruction of Israel.

Shortly after the Oslo Accords were formalized, Arafat addressed a Johannesburg, South Africa mosque on 10 May 1994, unaware he was being filmed:

"The Jihad will continue, and Jerusalem is not [only] for the Palestinian people, it is for all the Muslim nation... This agreement [Oslo], I am not considering it more than the agreement which had been signed between our prophet Mohammed and the Koraish, and you remember that Caliph Omar had refused this agreement and [considered] it a despicable truce... We are in need of you as Moslems, as warriors of Jihad [Mujaheddin]." - Ha'aretz, 23 May 1994

In a 15 May 2002 speech to the Palestinian Legislative Council in Ramallah, Arafat professed that peace was the PA's strategic choice. He then went on to say:

"Our national fight will be continued in all forms [read: terrorism].... Let us remember the Hudaibiya Conciliation Accord out of our concern for the national and pan-Arab interest of our people and nation"

In an address to a rally in Ramallah on 15 November 1996 (shortly after the Wye River Accords) broadcast on official Palestinian Television, Arafat declared:

"We chose the peace of the brave out of faith in the prophet, in the Khudaibiya agreement."

Arafat-appointed Palestinian Police Chief Col. Ghazi Jabali made remarks which were broadcast on official Palestinian Authority-controlled television on 30 October 1998, one week after the signing of the Wye River Memorandum between Israel and the PLO:

"We wish to build an independent state and to build our nation - even the Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him, accepted the Hudabiya agreement, which contained unjust conditions."

In an interview with Egyptian government-controlled Orbit TV on 18 April 1998, Arafat was asked, "How do you explain that you occasionally ask the Palestinian street not to explode?" Arafat responded:

"When the prophet Muhammad made the Hudabiya agreement, he agreed to remove his title “messenger of Allah” from the agreement. Then, Omar bin Khatib and the others referred to this agreement as the “inferior peace agreement"... The peace agreement which we signed (Oslo, Interim Agreements, Hebron Accords) is an 'inferior peace'."

In an interview with the PA-controlled Al-Quds newspaper on 10 May 1998, Arafat was asked "Do you feel sometimes that you made a mistake in agreeing to Oslo?" Arafat responded:

"No... no. Allah's messenger Mohammad accepted the al-Hudabiya peace treaty and Salah a-Din accepted the peace agreement with Richard the Lion-Hearted [which Saladin violated shortly thereafter]."
