UN diplomats said Egyptian Culture Minister Farouk Hosni's candidacy to become director-general of UNESCO may now be doomed, after he told the Egyptian parliament that if any Israeli books were found in Egyptian libraries, he would burn them.
Such a statement is "couched in the language and actions of Nazi 'Minister of Culture' Josef Goebbels," the director for international relations of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Shimon Samuels, said in a letter."An aspirant book-burner, who threatens to wield culture as a weapon, cannot head the intellectual arm of the United Nations."

Anti-Israeli Agenda Borders on Sacrilege
Last weekend, Old South Church hosted a conference sponsored by North American Friends of Sabeel entitled "The Apartheid Paradigm in Palestine-Israel" and headlined by Episcopal Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Two days of nonstop bashing of Israel, portrayed as a colonialist oppressor. Palestinian national aspirations were celebrated; Jewish national aspirations were ignored, if not denigrated. The endless wars waged by Arabs seeking to wipe out the Jewish state were characterized as aggressive wars provoked by Israel. There was no mention of suicide bombings, except possibly to justify them as understandable expressions of rage. What distresses me is the acquiescence of church leaders in this simplistic script. Even though liberal church leaders ordinarily bend over backward not to offend groups within the community, it is somehow acceptable to offend Jews.
Sabeel, which styles itself as an ecumenical liberation theology movement, promotes a retrograde anti-Jewish theology of supersession that has long since been repudiated by mainstream Christian denominations. After centuries of anti-Semitism, much of it spawned by church leaders, modern-day Christians have a particular obligation to help make the world a safer place for Jews. It is arrogant and condescending for American Christians to become partisans in this geopolitical struggle without at least acknowledging its complexities. More inflammatory rhetoric is the last thing we need.

They Honor Us with Their Hate
A picture dated Sept. 12, 2001, made my heart stop. It showed Palestinians, most of them young, all of them male, cheering the deaths of about 3,000 innocent people in America the day before. This was before America's retaliatory invasion of Afghanistan or the war in Iraq. It was also before Guantanamo and before the outrage of Abu Ghraib. In other words, the demonstration by Palestinians in Shatila in Lebanon preceded most of the usual reasons given for why America today is held in contempt. One Islamic state (Iran) and a host of militant organizations - Hamas, Hizbullah, Islamic Jihad, and al-Qaeda - fervently wish for Israel's destruction. There is no way the U.S. could appease these groups and not, in the process, trample on its own moral values.

The Historical Roots of the Anti-Israel Positions of Liberal Protestant Churches
The verbal attacks and boycott calls by a variety of Western Protestant, mainly liberal, denominations, as well as the World Council of Churches, have raised new interest in the origins of Christian anti-Semitism and in particular its Protestant version.
Among the Protestants' founding fathers, Martin Luther was particularly anti-Semitic. His writings were precursors of twentieth-century National Socialist texts. Adolf Hitler, Joseph Goebbels, and Julius Streicher gladly quoted from Luther's works.
In the current anti-Israel positions of liberal Western churches, nontheological influences are probably more important.
Churches have taught antipathy to Jews for two thousand years. It is mistaken to think this can be overturned in a few decades. The new expressions of Christian hatred toward Israel reflect deep psychological processes.

Ten Ways Israel Is Treated Differently
First, Israel is the only UN member state whose very right to exist is under constant challenge. Notwithstanding the fact that Israel was created with the imprimatur of the UN and has been a member of the world body since 1949, there is a relentless chorus of nations, institutions and individuals denying Israel's very political legitimacy. No one would dare question the right to exist of Libya, Saudi Arabia or Syria. Why is it open hunting season on Israel, as if we didn't know the answer?
Second, Israel is the only UN member state that's been publicly targeted for annihilation by another UN member state. Think about it. The Iranian president calls for wiping Israel off the map. Is there any other country that faces such an open call for genocidal destruction?
Third, Israel is the only nation whose capital city, Jerusalem, is not recognized by other nations. Imagine the absurdity of this. Foreign diplomats live in Tel Aviv while conducting virtually all their business in Jerusalem. Though no Western nation questions Israel's presence in the city's western half, where the prime minister's office, Knesset and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are located, there are no embassies there. In fact, look at listings of world cities, including places of birth in passports, and you'll often see something striking - Paris, France; Tokyo, Japan; Pretoria, South Africa; Lima, Peru; and Jerusalem, sans country - orphaned, if you will.
Fourth, the UN has two agencies that deal with refugees. One, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), focuses on all the world's refugee populations, save one. The other, the United Nations Refugee and Works Administration (UNRWA), handles only the Palestinians. But the oddity goes further than two structures and two bureaucracies. They have two different mandates. UNHCR seeks to resettle refugees; UNRWA does not. When, in 1951, John Blanford, UNRWA's director, proposed resettling up to 250,000 refugees in Arab countries, those countries refused, leading to his resignation. The message got through. No UN official since has pushed for resettlement.
Moreover, the UNRWA and UNHCR definitions of a refugee differ markedly. Whereas the UNHCR targets those who have fled their homelands, the UNRWA definition covers "the descendants of persons who became refugees in 1948," without any generational limitations.
Fifth, Israel is the only country that has won all its major wars for survival and self-defense, yet it's confronted by defeated adversaries who insist on dictating the terms of peace. In doing so, ironically, they've found support from many countries who, victorious in war, demanded -- and got - border adjustments.
Sixth, Israel is the only country that has been censured by name -- not once, but nine times -- since the new UN Human Rights Council was established in June 2006. Astonishingly, or maybe not, this UN body has failed to adopt a single resolution critical of any real human rights abuser. When finally discussing the Darfur situation, the Council shamefully balked at pointing a finger at Sudan.
Seventh, Israel is the only country that, in violation of the spirit of the UN Charter, isn't a full member of one of the five regional blocs -- Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and West Europe and Others (WEOG) -- that determine eligibility for candidacy for key UN posts. While Israel achieved a breakthrough in 2000 and joined WEOG, its membership is limited to New York, not other UN centers, and is both conditional and temporary.
Eighth, Israel is the only country that's the daily target of three UN bodies established solely to advance the Palestinian cause and to bash Israel -- the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People, and the Division for Palestinian Rights in the UN's Department of Political Affairs.
Ninth, Israel is the only country that is the target of a boycott by the British-based National Union of Journalists. An earlier British boycott against Israeli academic institutions was voided on a technicality because the union that adopted the measure merged with another. There is now an incipient call by some in the British Medical Association to exclude its Israeli counterpart from the World Medical Association.
And tenth, Israel is the only country where some associated with its majority population, i.e., Jews, openly call, for political or religious reasons, to dismantle the state. Is there a comparable situation to those religious voices of Neturei Karta, for example, who traveled to Teheran to join publicly with a leader seeking Israel's destruction, as well as those political extremists who seek to delegitimize the State of Israel and call for a "one-state" solution? Speaking of our own worst enemies... Tackling any one of these ten, much less all of them, is a daunting challenge, to state the painfully obvious. And, as I suggested, this list is far from complete. But it gives a sense of what's going on beyond the daily headlines.
The old ad used to say that you don't have to be Jewish to love Levy's Jewish rye bread. Well, surely, you don't have to be an ardent pro-Israel activist to be troubled by the unjust treatment of Israel. All it takes is a capacity for outrage that things like this are going on before our very eyes.

A Victory Against Campus Extremism
In a powerful blow to the anti-Israel movement on American campuses, the University of California at Riverside has canceled the Fifth Annual International Al Awda Conference that was scheduled to take place there on the weekend of May 24-26th. This marks only the second time that an American university has declined unconditionally to host an anti-Jewish hate fest that masquerades as an educational event about the Middle East (the other campus being Rutgers University in New Jersey in 2003). Such a cancellation comes on the heels of a new ruling by the US Civil Rights Commission that anti-Semitism on campuses has been masquerading as discussion of the Middle East.Click here to read the complete article by Lee Kaplan.
Al Awda’s conference was set to be a training and strategy session for boycotting American and Israeli Jewish businesses -- and even some American Jews -- and for aiding the goal of extremists like Hamas to destroy Israel. Like Hamas, Al Awda’s motto has always been “from the river to the sea,” meaning the organization favors not a peaceful two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but the ultimate destruction of Israel and its Jewish and Christian population. Indeed, Al Awda’s founder once called Jews who live in Israel “a disease” and the group calls the founding of the Jewish state a “catastrophe”(al Nakba in Arabic).
At UC Riverside, this campaign of demonizing has come to a crashing halt. According to Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs James Sandoval, student organizers advised him “without explanation” that the event was being canceled. While Sandoval maintained that the cancellation of the event was the decision of the student organizers that included the Students for Justice in Palestine and Muslim Students Union at UC Riverside, both International Solidarity Movement-affiliated groups, the UC Riverside administration deserves praise for setting up ground rules that obviously made the event too risky for the organizers to conduct on campus.
Al-Awda has issued a press release announcing a change in venue. The convention will now be held at Embassy Suites Hotel - Anaheim South, 11767 Harbor Boulevard, Garden Grove, CA 92840. The convention will take place on the May 25-27 memorial day week-end.
Al-Awda explained that the new location was required because “unacceptable conditions were demanded by certain UCR administrators well after they had approved the venue.” Most outrageous for Al-Awda was that “the university administrators insisted that Zionists be allowed to attend the convention, and that they film the convention and its participants, a remarkable attempt at intimidation.” That the organization considers the mere presence of “Zionists” a scandalous violation of its rights speaks volumes about the anti-Semitic prejudices of the organization.
Among the confirmed convention speakers are:
Dr. Jamal Zahalka, new leader of Balad (National Democratic Assembly, al-Tajamu' al-Watani al-Dimuqrati) who will discuss the current situation of Palestinians living in the areas of their country occupied in 1948 and in the context of the persecution of Dr. Azmi Bishara, former leader of Balad.
Leila Al-Arian, journalist, daughter of political prisoner Sami Al-Arian.
Dr. Naseer Aruri, former member of The Palestine National Council.
Elias Rashmawi, National Coordinator National Council of Arab Americans.
The above guests show no shortage of evidence for the group’s extremism. Among the attendees scheduled to appear at its forthcoming conference are supporters of Hamas, Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations. One participant, Leila Al-Arian, is the daughter of convicted Palestine Islamic Jihad operative Sami Al-Arian, whom Al-Awda describes as a “political prisoner.” Al-Arian was convicted of murdering over 100 people as the American leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, some of his victims being Americans. Other evidence includes poetry on the Web by an international Al Awda leader exhorting murder and suicide bombings. On its affiliated websites, Al-Awda also promotes not only a boycott by the Arabs of Israeli businesses, but American firms simply because they have Jewish executives. American firms boycotted include Coca Cola, Home Depot, Blockbuster and Starbucks among others. Al Awda attendees, although mostly Palestinian Arabs, also voice their unwavering international support for the Ba’ath Party that supplies terrorists who kill American soldiers in Iraq.
Write Vice chancellor James Sandoval (james.sandoval@ucr.edu) and Chancellor France Cordova (france.cordova@ucr.edu) and praise UC Riverside for doing the right thing once the truth emerged. Perhaps other universities will now finally catch on to the ISM and its affiliates like Al Awda. At the same time, get on the phone and send emails to the corporate offices of Hilton Hotel Corporation and the Mayor of Garden Grove and advise them the same type of boycott as this one against Jews planned to be hosted at Embassy Suites can also be done to the Hilton Hotel chain for encouraging such a Jewish hate-fest.
This Al Awda conference should be canceled--period. If UC Riverside can do it, so can Hilton Hotels.

NGOs against Israel
Via NGO Monitor:
On May 2 2007, three major NGOs -- Human Rights Watch, FIDH [1]and the World Organization Against Torture (OMCT) -- published a joint press release [2]calling on Israel to lift the travel ban placed on Shawan Jabarin, the General Director of Al-Haq[3]. Al Haq, an affiliate of the Geneva based International Commission of Jurists, is a highly politicized Palestinian NGO, active in the 2001 Durban conference that adopted a strategy of demonization against Israel. The statement alleges that Jabarin was barred by Israel from attending the annual Congress of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) in Lisbon on April 19, 2007, and that "Israeli authorities have not explained why the restrictions are in place."
NGO Monitor's analysis of this statement shows that while these NGOs acknowledge that "human rights law permits restrictions on freedom of movement on security grounds," they entirely erase Jabarin's links to the PFLP and Israel's legitimate security concerns. They also make claims that are inconsistent with the available record, and fail to note their ties to Jabarin and Al-Haq.[4] The result is a selective research and ideologically biased analysis, similar to others analyzed in previous NGO Monitor reports.
Factual Omissions and Distortions in HRW/FIDH/OMCT Statement
According to the May 2 statement: "Before his travel ban was imposed [in 2006], Jabarin had traveled abroad on eight different occasions since 1999." This claim implies that Israel has rarely, if ever, placed travel bans or other restrictions on Jabarin. However, as documented below, Israel has placed several travel bans on Jabarin. According to some estimates, he has spent eight years in administrative detention for actions related to his involvement in the PFLP and terrorism.
Chronology of Jabarin's Past Actions Related to Terror and Security
1985: Jabarin Convicted of Active Role in PFLP terror organizationAccording to a 1995 Israeli submission to the UN, Jabarin was convicted in 1985 for recruiting members on behalf of the Palestinian Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) -- designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, and Canada. Jabarin was also found guilty of arranging PFLP training outside Israel, and was sentenced by Israeli courts to twenty-four months imprisonment, of which he served nine.
1994: Still Active in PFLPOn June 21, 1994 Jabarin was arrested and placed in administrative detention for six months. An Israeli statement to the UN notes that he "had not discontinued his terrorist involvement and maintains his position in the leadership of the PFLP" As in similar cases, if he were brought to trial, this would "endanger the safety of material witnesses were they to give evidence." The legitimacy of this claim results from the common Palestinian practice of murdering anyone labeled as an Israeli "collaborator".
2003: Jordan Denies Entry to JabarinIn 2003, Israel did allow Jabarin to travel, but the government of Jordan refused him entry. Jordan also has legitimate security concerns, and the PFLP platform, states that, "the problem of the revolution in Palestine is dialectically connected with the problem of the revolution in Jordan. A chain of plots between the Jordanian monarchy, imperialism and Zionism have proved this connection." This context is also omitted in the joint NGO statement on Jabarin's behalf.
According to the May 2 HRW/FIDH/OMCT statement: "the Israeli High Court rejected [Jabarin's request to have the ban lifted], apparently based on submissions from the authorities that neither Mr. Jabarin nor his counsel were permitted to see." As of May 8, 2007 this Supreme Court decision has been classified under a Court order.
In addition, in assessing the HRW/FIDH/OMCT statement on behalf of Jabarin, it is important to note that in contrast to the claim that Al Haq is focused on human rights, the record shows its primary role in anti-Israel demonization and political campaigns, often in cooperation with HRW, FIDH, and OMCT. For example, Jabarin and Al-Haq contributed to a tendentious HRW report entitled, “Promoting Impunity: The Israeli Military’s Failure to Investigate Wrongdoing”[5]. Al-Haq is an OMCT member organization, and an FIDH member organization. During the 61st session of the UN Commission on Human Rights, March 2005, Al-Haq, FIDH, and OMCT issued a joint statement condemning Israel for "numerous forms of collective punishment", the "devastating system of checkpoints and other movement restrictions", and the "construction of the Annexation Wall".Conclusion
The HRW/FIDH/OMCT statement ignores the legitimate security concerns evident from Jabarin's past actions and the available evidence. On this basis, it is reasonable to conclude that this statement reflects the bias and political agendas that dominate the activities of these NGOs with respect to Israel and the Palestinian conflict, as part of the Durban Strategy of demonization through false human rights claims.
Footnotes:
1. NGO Monitor's research has shown that FIDH uses a disproportionately large amount of resources condemning Israel, as opposed to Sudan, Iran, or Saudi Arabia, for human rights abuses. See this NGO Monitor chart for details.
2. See the press release on FIDH's website here, and on OMCT's website here.
3. Jabarin is not the only member of Al-Haq to have been placed in administrative detention by Israel. For example, in October 2002, Al-Haq staff member Ziad Hamidan was refused authorization to attend a conference in Madrid. See here for a more complete list.
4. The statement also notes the involvement of Hamoked, another political NGO that use the rhetoric of human rights to condemn Israel.
5. See NGO Monitor’s report, “Claims in Btselem/HaMoked Report Lack Credibility” and the Israeli Government Response to a 2004 HRW Inquiry for refutation of these claims.

Anti-Israel Ad Campaign Set for Washington Subway
This proves that the palestinian claim of "occupation" is just an excuse to kill Jews and the reason for this is that their religious leaders tell them to do it. Now Washington D.C. is getting involved in impugning Israel.
From Anti-Israel Ad Campaign Set for Washington Subway:
Starting May 13 for four weeks, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has ordered 20 of its subway stations to place posters advertising a June 10 rally to end "Israel's illegal military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem."To send your letters of disgust at this flawed attempt by these arabists to impugn Israel, contact the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation at us_campaign@endtheoccupation.org. The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, like so many other anti-Israel organizations, thrive on the intentional use of false data in order to sway world opinion against Israel. For example, their rhetoric is littered with concepts, mostly mythical, intertwined with words like "East Jerusalem", ""Palestinians", "West Bank", etc. There is no law on earth that requires the Jewish people to accept the revision of their history nor their own demise merely because Arabs and arabists say we should.
Initiated by the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, the 46-by-60-inch posters depict an imposing tank pointing at a child with a schoolbag. Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi, president of the Israel Project, said she expected the ads to have a "minimum impact."
Many participants in focus group studies on the ad upon first glance thought the tank was an American one surrounded by Iraqi children.
For more information on the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, click here.
Furthermore, here are the facts about Arab terrorism prior to the establishment of the legitimate and sovereign nation of Israel in 1948 (Source: Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs):
The basic premise of the Palestinian claim - that the 'occupation' causes terrorism - is historically flawed. Arab and Palestinian terrorism against Israel existed prior to the beginning of Israeli control over the West Bank and Gaza as a result of the Six Day War of June 1967, and even prior to the establishment of the State of Israel in May 1948.Remember this, Jew-haters: We're not going to apologize for surviving a 60+ year war that Arabs started, the same war that Arafat, the Egyptian, helped perpetuate when he created the PLO in 1964 - three years before there was an "occupation" to come in 1967.
For example, Arab terrorism was rampant during wave of anti-Jewish riots in 1920-21 (which was characterized by the brutal murder in Jaffa of the prominent Jewish author Y. Brenner), during the 'Disturbances' of 1929 (which included the massacre of the Jewish community in Hebron), during the Arab Revolt of 1936-39, and in many other recorded incidents of wholesale anti-Jewish Arab violence throughout the pre-state period.
The Palestinian terrorism campaign was stepped-up on the eve of the UN Partition Resolution of November 1947, and led to the joint Arab invasion of 1948-49 which delineated the boundaries of the newly established State of Israel.
Indeed, this deplorable violence can be traced back to the beginning of the renewed Jewish settlement of the Land of Israel over a century ago.
After the War of Independence, Arab terrorism expanded in scope. In 1952, when 'fedayeen' terrorist border incursions reached their height, there were about 3,000 incidents of cross-border violence, extending from the malicious destruction of property to the brutal murder of civilians. This anti-Israeli violence encompassed both frontier settlements and population centers, and was perpetrated, for the most part, against innocent civilians, most of them new immigrants.
In conclusion, the oft-repeated Arab claim that the Israeli 'occupation' is somehow to blame for the Palestinian terrorism is nothing more than an empty retort, repudiated by the facts, and disproved by a century of historical reality.
The following is a partial list of documented acts of Arab terrorism, all occurring prior to the beginning of the Israeli administration of the West Bank and Gaza in 1967:
Major Arab Terrorist Attacks against Israelis Prior to the 1967 Six-Day War
Jan 1, 1952 - Seven armed terrorists attacked and killed a nineteen year-old girl in her home, in the neighborhood of Beit Yisrael, in Jerusalem.

June 9, 1953 - Terrorists attacked a farming community near Lod, and killed one of the residents. The terrorists threw hand grenades and sprayed gunfire in all directions. On the same night, another group of terrorists attacked a house in the town of Hadera. This occurred a day after Israel and Jordan signed an agreement, with UN mediation, in which Jordan undertook to prevent terrorists from crossing into Israel from Jordanian territory.

To those with a moral conscience, I say, be disgusted with the demonization of Israel, the nazification of Zionism, the politicization of all things Israeli, the Islamic oversimplification reducing all discussions of Israel to the palestinian problem.
Be disgusted with the myth that all will be peaceful once the Israeli "occupiers" are gone. Be disgusted by Arab bullies who make life miserable for non-Arabs in the Middle East and around the the world.
Do not fall into the trap of endlessly denying what Islam is as revealed by its 1400 year history. Do not become like the 193 zombies and illiterates listed here (Source: anti-Israel site) who support the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, who are too uneducated, too cowardly, too mendacious, too uncivilized to know the real truth: ma fish falastin.

Sweeping Anti-Semitism in South Africa Under the Carpet
I have been waiting for weeks for the South African Jewish Board of Deputies and the South African Jewish report to publicize the findings of the South Africa Anti-Semitism report,06 by the Institute of Contemporary Anti-Semitism and Racism at Tel Aviv University. And I will most likely continue waiting until the Messiah comes so I have decided to take the liberty of publishing its disturbing findings myself.Disturbing is not descriptive enough. Read the complete post here.

Israeli Security Agency Warns of Hamas Attacks
A recent wave of arrests of Hamas militants in the West Bank town of Kalkilya, linked to a truck packed with 220 pounds of explosives and driven to the Tel Aviv area, provided evidence that Hamas members there are primed to resume attacks in Israel, the Israeli internal security service Shin Bet asserted Tuesday. The Shin Bet statement warned that Hamas operatives in Kalkilya "continue to work on the planning and execution of significant attacks, including ones in the immediate future." There has been a hiatus in Hamas suicide attacks since August 2004, but a senior Israeli army commander said recently that there are "some groups in the military wing of Hamas that don't like the cease-fire or the unity government." David Baker, an official in the office of Prime Minister Olmert, asserted that Hamas "continues to target Israeli civilians." "Terrorism is a cornerstone of the new Palestinian government, a government that should be shunned," he said.

The Illusion of "Peace in Exchange for Territories"
Since the 1991 Madrid Peace Conference, Arab leaders have repeated the mantra that peace with Israel hinges upon a withdrawal to the pre-1967 border. Yet it remains unclear whether the Palestinians will be satisfied with a homeland in the West Bank and Gaza following an Israeli withdrawal to the "green line." Palestinian insistence on the refugees' right of return, ending the Jewish majority in the State of Israel, indicates hostile intent.
Relations between Israel and its Palestinian and Arab neighbors are not dominated by the issue of disputed territory, but by the issue of the alleged right of return. The preservation of the refugee ethos through the media and the education system is intended to prevent concession on the right of return.
All Palestinian symbols and illustrations depict Palestine as the land from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River. These illustrations do not show the Palestinian state as Gaza and the West Bank.
Western negotiators and Israelis tend to brush the refugee problem under the table, but for Arab societies surrounding Israel, the refugee issue is acute. Those who believe that the return of territory will bring peace must analyze and understand what is being said in the Arab media and on the Arab streets.
If a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Golan and Judea and Samaria (including Jerusalem) were to occur, Israelis would be bitterly disappointed to discover that the main problem between Israel and its neighbors - the problem of the State of Israel's very existence - has not been solved.
The writer, a Begin-Sadat Center research associate, served for 25 years in IDF Military Intelligence.

Spain: the European Iran
Ciempozuelos is a village near Madrid. Excluding punctual scandals – like the major’s recent resignation under charges of corruption – for the 12,768 inhabitants of Ciempozuelos, life is good – and progressive. The Socialist Party PSOE calls the shots, so it was no surprise when the town announced there was not going to be any commemoration of the Holocaust Memorial Day,
which Miguel Ángel Moratinos, Spanish Foreign Minister, likes to say he established in Spain (even though the date was established in the Berlin Accords signed by previous Prime Minister Jose María Aznar in 1995). The townhall will host the Day of the Palestinian Genocide instead, a hate-fest against Israel, Israelis and Jews in general.

Yesha Council Slams Peace Now's "Lies Now" Report
A7 News
Tuesday, January 23, 2007
4 Shevat 5767
----------------
The Yesha Council highlights the deceptions in a recent study by the ultra-left wing Peace Now group purporting to show that 40% of Yesha communities are built on private Arab land.
"The so-called facts in the Peace Now report are from the true reality," the Yesha Council says.
The Yesha Council has named its report, currently underway, "The Protocols of Peace Now - the Great Deception." It includes maps, documents, quotations - and an itemized list of "simple, ridiculous mistakes, as well as the lack of sincerity, that typify the criminal negligence that characterizes this hate-motivated report."
Praised by Arabs
The Peace Now report received lavished praise from Palestinian Authority Arabs. The PA news agency Ma'an recently wrote that it "shows part of the true face of the Hebrew State... It shows that private Arab-owned lands were simply stolen by the Hebrew state to build settlements - disproving the claim of four decades... The report was not publicized by me or by a Palestinian organization, but by an Israeli organization - and Israel cannot deny it... Where are all the Israeli mottos about justice, democracy and civil rights?... This is now a 'ready-to-go' case for the International Court... Now that Peace Now has given this gift to the land-owners, we must thank this organization, and see what the land-owners and the PA will do; for this is much to do..."
"The Peace Now members are running around the world with this report," a Yesha Council source said, "in order to malign the State of Israel - but it is filled with distorted data and lies. All is apparently fair and acceptable in their war against the Jewish communities."
Peace Now members are currently lobbying U.S. Congressmen against Israel based on their report. Nationalist camp activists say that Peace Now's objective is to make the approval of U.S. aid to Israel contingent upon the withdrawal of Israeli financial support for all Yesha communities allegedly on private Arab land, as well as the destruction of all hilltop outposts.
No State-Owned Lands in Yesha?
The point of departure of the Peace Now report, the Yesha Council says, is that "all of Judea and Samaria is private Arab-owned land unless proven otherwise." The entire concept of state-owned lands essentially does not exist for Peace Now, says Council leader Pinchas Wallerstein.
Only a small percentage of Judea and Samaria is actually privately-owned, however. A legal expert familiar with the area told Arutz-7 that "perhaps 5%" of the uninhabited land there is privately-owned. "Vast areas in Judea and Samaria lay totally desolate in 1967 when Israel liberated them in the Six Day War," he said. Most of these areas were then designated as state-owned, in the absence of other documentation.
For instance, most of Maaleh Adumim - one of the largest cities in Judea and Samaria, just east of Jerusalem - appears on the Peace Now report as if built on private land, when in fact it was built on state-owned lands.
The Yesha report also shows that Peace Now falsely "expanded" the borders of Jewish communities into Arab-owned land. "Additional area around the communities was simply added to the Jewish towns," a Yesha source said, "as if to prove that the Jews had stolen the land - when in fact the communities don't claim these areas at all."
Peace Now even ignores a ruling by former Supreme Court Chief Justice Aharon Barak, Wallerstein states. Barak ruled in the past that the community of Etz Ephraim, near Elkanah, is built on Jewish-owned land - yet Peace Now has it on Arab land.
Neither does Peace Now recognize the sale of land, apparently. The Modiin-area community of Kfar Oranim, for instance, whose land was duly purchased from Arabs, appears in the Peace Now report as "mostly Arab-owned."
The Essential Goal: An End to Jewish Presence in Judea and Samaria
Peace Now's activities center largely on making life difficult, if not impossible, for Jews living in Judea and Samaria. One of its major campaigns in recent months has been waged against the construction of 33 high-rise buildings in a section of Modi'in Illit, some of which were built on land belonging to the nearby Arab village of Bil'in. A Peace Now spokesperson speaking with Arutz-7 at the time did not rule out the possibility that it would seek a court order to demolish the buildings - though Jewish families had already purchased and moved into many of the apartments.
This past December, the nearly 200 people of Migron, south of Beit El, learned that Defense Minister Peretz plans to forcibly expel them in several months if no "voluntary evacuation" agreement is reached. Though some of the land on which Migron was founded is officially listed as Arab-owned, these Arabs had never come forward to make their claim, nor had they ever cultivated or laid any claim to it - until Peace Now sought them out and encouraged them to do so.
Peace Now has also targeted new construction in Maaleh Adumim, Maaleh Rechavam, a neighborhood in Eli, and many more locations, and has demanded the destruction of some 120 hilltop outposts throughout Judea and Samaria. It frequently files suit in the Supreme Court against what it feels is the government's slow pace in demolishing areas of Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria. Last month, a petition by Peace Now has prompted Attorney General Mazuz to open a limited criminal investigation against government officials who arranged funding for Yesha outposts.
MK Uri Ariel said that the "deceptive Peace Now report is another attempt to foster conflict and ignite a war... Peace Now does not promote peace amongst the Jews, nor between us and the Arabs." Yaakov (Ketzaleh) Katz of Beit El, a veteran leader of the settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria, said about Peace Now's latest report, "They merely want to weaken us and the State of Israel." Gush Etzion settlement leader Nadia Matar has said that "members of Peace Now are spying and informing on behalf of the Arab enemy."
International Funding
Notably, Peace Now's costly expenses in detailing every new Israeli structure in Judea and Samaria are largely funded by foreign governments. Investigative reporter David Bedein says the organization is or has been effectively on the payroll of at least three European governments - Britain, Norway, and Finland - and has also been funded by the Economic Cooperation Foundation, a group funded directly by the European Union.
Britain and Norway are fundamentally opposed to the existence of Israeli communities in Yesha, thus that the money they give Peace Now invariably serves those governments' foreign policy interests. Despite this, the organization is not required under Israeli law to register as a foreign agent. In contrast, Bedein explained, if the organization were operating in the United States, it would have to register as a foreign agent with the U.S. Justice Department.
Bedein said Peace Now "was in effect spying on Israel for foreign governments," and engages in surveillance activities relating not only to Israeli communities, but also on military installations belonging to the IDF.
Outposts Have a Purpose
The Yesha Council report opens with a strong criticism of the type of work Peace Now does:
"The very decision to evacuate outposts, to the cheers of the Palestinians, as if we were disciplining third-graders along the style of, 'Get out, stand in the corner, show us your papers and then return,' without checking seriously even one time what the real objective of these outposts is and how they will contribute to less friction and a better atmosphere - for this alone the Knesset should vote no-confidence in the government." These words were uttered in the Knesset by then-MK Ariel Sharon on October 18, 1999.
Sharon explained at the time that one of the justifications for the outposts is to guarantee Israeli access to various routes in the area. "For instance," he said, " Elon Moreh, Itamar and the Shilo bloc must be connected to the Alon route in the Jordan Valley to their east. If we don't sit on important points along these routes, who will defend them?"

Ruth Matar: Freedom of religion for whom?
What is the following all about? Jews who backstab Jews, and in this particular case, it's about the Jews of Machsom Watch, a radical organization of leftist Israeli women.
Here's a must-read letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green), Jerusalem:
Dear Friends,
My blood is literally boiling!
On the front page of today’s Jerusalem Post there is a huge ad by MACHSOM WATCH, a radical organization of some leftist Israeli women (including Dana Olmert, the Israeli Prime Minister’s daughter), but with a large contingent of imported radicals from abroad. The Hebrew word ‘machsom’ refers to ‘checkpoint’. These women have made it their life’s mission to “watch” all checkpoints in Israel, so as to interfere with the work of the Israeli soldiers, whose duty it is to guard against Arab terrorists entering from the territories. They continually incite the Arabs against our soldiers, and even try to bodily prevent them from doing their duty. Tragically, some soldiers have lost their lives as a result of the activities of the Machsom Watch organization.
The ad of Machsom Watch is chock full of falsehoods. Is it possible that these people honestly believe their own fabrications in this ad? What is their motive in presenting the Israeli people as violently intolerant of other peoples’ religion?
I want you to be able to judge for yourself. I am, therefore, including the entire ad.

FREEDOM OF RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCE FOR ALL
“The State of Israel will guarantee freedom of religion…will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions…will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.”
Declaration of Independence
Muslims are observing the month of Ramadan. Upon the conclusion of the fast, next week, they will celebrate their holy festival, Id el-Fitr.
The State of Israel PREVENTS tens of thousands of Palestinians from reaching their holy sites to pray.
The State of Israel FORBIDS Muslim men under the age of 45 from praying at the el-Aksa Mosque, one of the three holiest sites in Islam.
The army prevents the passage of crowds of observant Muslims, pushing them back behind checkpoints and fences - by threats, shouts, shoving and tear gas.
Let the Palestinians pray at the holy sites in Jerusalem.
RESPECT THE FREEDOM OF OBSERVANCE FOR ALL

-------------------------------------
Dear friends, I know that you are too sophisticated to be taken in by this leftist-inspired propaganda. Unfortunately, it is the Muslims who prevent others, such as Jews and Christians, from reaching their holy sites to pray.
Here are only a few of the true facts:
*The Tomb of our forefather Joseph was assaulted by a turbulent mob of Arabs on October 7, 2000. They completely demolished the millennial-old holy site in a matter of hours. They hacked, chopped, smashed and destroyed one of the most hallowed sites belonging to the Jewish People. The Arabs set alight holy books and other sacred religious objects. Two Israeli soldiers were murdered in this pogrom.*On many occasions hundreds of Arabs, after prayers at the el-Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount, hurled stones and blocks onto Jewish worshippers praying at the Western Wall below.
*The ancient synagogue in Jericho, Shalom al Israel, was vandalized and almost completely destroyed. Israelis now have to obtain a permit from the Arabs to visit what’s left of it. This ancient synagogue was built during the time of the Second Temple.
*Worshippers have to go in bulletproof buses to the tomb of Mother Rachel near Bethlehem to avoid being stoned. The tomb itself is now protected by a security wall.
*Immediately after the Jews were expelled from Gush Katif, the Arabs desecrated all the synagogues and victoriously danced on the rooftops of the religious institutions before burning them down.
*The Arabs attempted to build a mosque in front of an existing Christian church in Nazereth, this was meant to obstruct the entrance to this historical church.
Finally, the composers of the Machsom Watch advertisement asks us to “respect the freedom of religious observance for all”. The advertisement ends with an impassioned plea to let the Palestinians pray at the holy sites in Jerusalem.
What hypocrisy! It is the Jews and the Christians who are prevented by the Arabs from praying at their holiest sites!
In this regard, I want you to carefully read a shocking article about a well-known Christian leader who was arrested and expelled from the Temple Mount for praying.

Christian leader expelled from Mount for praying
Islamic intolerance and incitement permitted on Israel’s holiest site
jnewswire.com, October 14 , 2003
Israeli police escorted one of the top leaders of the Jerusalem-headquartered international Christian Zionist movement off the Temple Mount Tuesday, [October 14, 2003] on the grounds that he had been silently praying in the area.
While Christians and Jews are forbidden from praying on the hill the Bible designates as a site holy to the God of Israel, Muslims are free to worship and preach incitement against Israel from the four mosques straddling the Mount.
Accosted while silently praying
Jan Willem van der Hoeven, founder of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem and currently director of the International Christian Zionist Center, said he had been walking alone and “speaking to the Lord in his heart,” when a policeman demanded to know whether he was praying.
“I could have lied and said no,” Van der Hoeven told Jerusalem Newswire, “but of course I did not want to and so said yes.”
According to several eyewitnesses, three policemen had then handcuffed and escorted Van der Hoeven to the police station at the nearby Western Wall Plaza.
Police log prayer
Van der Hoeven said when he arrived at the police station the officer in charge asked what he had been praying. He replied that he had been praying for the Messiah to come and bring peace to Israel and to the world.
“The police noted my prayer down in their official report,” Van der Hoeven said.
He had been allowed to leave a short while later.
Putting their feet down
The incident took place after Van Der Hoeven led a group of about 40 visiting Christian Zionists onto the Temple Mount, a highlight of their weeklong celebration of the biblical Feast of Tabernacles.
Before ascending the hill, which the Bible describes as the place of Messiah’s future throne, Van der Hoeven had advised the pilgrims to separate into small groups and walk quietly around inside the walled compound, praying silently.
Reminding them of past instances of intolerance shown by the Muslim authorities on the Mount towards Jews and Christians, he urged the group to be “as wise as serpents and harmless as doves,” quoting the words of Jesus as recorded in the New Testament.
“Every place where your feet tread, pray that it will be given back to Israel,” he added.
On the Mount
Before climbing the ramp to the compound, the pilgrims were instructed to leave all Bibles, Israeli flags and any other apparently provocative items at the security checkpoint.
The group entered at the so-called Mughrabi Gate, before spreading out and walking in twos and threes around the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock and the Golden Gate.
Apart from Van der Hoeven’s expulsion, the group reported no other incidents and departed the area after about an hour.
Unbridled Islamic incitement
While Christian and Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount is not tolerated by the Islamic Authorities, Muslim clerics are free to foment hatred of the Jewish people and the State of Israel in weekly sermons in the mosques on the hill.
The Palestinian Authority-appointed Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Ikrema Sabri, whose offices are situated inside the compound, has issued rulings upholding the longstanding practice banning the worship of any god other than Allah, the ancient Arabian moon god.
“It is forbidden for Muslims to permit non-Muslims to supervise, conduct services or pray in any part of the mosques or underneath them," he has said.
Sabri regularly stokes up rage against Israel and the United States while conducting Muslim Friday prayers for the thousands of Arabs freely permitted by Israel to attend the services.
Speaking in the Al Aqsa Mosque, Sabri has been recorded saying: “Oh Allah, destroy America! For she is ruled by Zionist Jews!! Allah shall take revenge on behalf of his prophet against the colonialist settlers who are sons of monkeys and pigs!! Forgive us, Mohammad, for the acts of these sons of monkeys and pigs, who sought to harm your sanctity!!”
Earlier this year, the official PA Radio broadcast live sermons from the Al Aqsa Mosque in which Sabri denounced the "criminal United States" and "rancorous Britain."
Sabri has appealed to Muslims everywhere “to stand as one rank, stop the aggression, and cleanse their territories of US military occupation…
“O Allah, make the plots of the aggressors backfire on them. O Allah, annihilate them to the last man. O Allah, protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from every evil. O Allah, protect Iraq and its people.”
While Sabri’s instatement as Mufti was in violation of the Oslo Accords, Israel has chosen not to make an issue of it.

From the "Know Your Enemy" Department: US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation
The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, (endtheoccupation [dot] org), is an anti-Israel coalition whose mission is "to change those US policies that both sustain Israel's 38 -year occupation of the palestinian West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem, and deny equal rights for all".
The group has started a petition opposing H.R.4681, the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act of 2006. (But folks, it is a mistake to think of Judeophobia being a mostly Muslim problem; some Jews have signed below as well, mainly because of their pathological need to see themselves as modern, progressive and tolerant I'd say. These Jews are the Erev Rav, but more on who is the Erev Rav in another post.)
The 193 organizations at the end of this post have signed a letter urging Members of Congress to oppose H.R.4681. I wholeheartedly support H.R. 4681, Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act of 2006. Read about why you should also support it, here.
For example, the concept of "Palestinians" is one that did not exist until about 1948, when the Arab inhabitants, of what until then was Palestine, wished to differentiate themselves from the Jews. Until then, the Jews were the Palestinians. There was the Palestinian Brigade of Jewish volunteers in the British World War II Army (at a time when the Palestinian Arabs were in Berlin hatching plans with Adolf Hitler for world conquest and how to kill all the Jews); there was the Palestinian Symphony Orchestra (all Jews, of course); there was The Palestine Post; and so much more.
The Arabs who now call themselves "Palestinians" do so in order to persuade a misinformed world that they are a distinct nationality and that "Palestine" is their ancestral homeland. But they are no distinct nationality at all. They are the same – in language, custom, and tribal and family ties – as the Arabs of Syria, Jordan, and beyond. There is no more difference between the "Palestinians" and the other Arabs of those countries than there is between, say, the citizens of Minnesota and those of Wisconsin.
What's more, many of the "Palestinians", or their immediate ancestors, came to the area attracted by the prosperity created by the Jews, in what previously had been pretty much of a wasteland.
The nationhood of the "Palestinians" is a myth.
So too is the concept of the mythical "West Bank". Again, this is a concept that did not exist until 1948, when the army of the Kingdom of Transjordan, together with five other Arab armies, invaded the Jewish state of Israel, on the very day of its creation. Even thought the Jews defeated the Arabs, Transjordan stayed in possession of Judea and Samaria and the eastern part of Jerusalem. The Jordanians expelled all the Jews from the area that they occupied, destroyed all Jewish houses of worship, and renamed as "West Bank" the territories that had been Judea and Samaria since time immemorial.
The attempt, quite successful, was to persuade an uninformed world that these territories were ancestral parts of the Jordanian Arab Kingdom (itself a very recent creation of British power diplomacy).
The world continues to call this territory the "West Bank", a geographical and political concept that cannot be found on any except the most recent maps.
But those signees listed below are grossly uneducated to know any better. It is Palestinian rejection of Israel's right to exist and not Israeli policies that are the cause of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. See, folks, because unlike the political Arabian Nation, the Zionist movement to Palestine/the Land of Israel represents a return, not an invasion. The only religious argument that makes sense is to point out how so many Jewish holy places exist in Israel. It's hardly irrational that Jews should want to live near the Wailing Wall or other sites of great importance in Jewish history and religion, particularly given how poorly Muslims have treated such sites.
Arabs and their apologists refuse to accept the fact that if Arabs had not attacked Israel in the first place, there would never have been an "occupation".
In fact, prior to 1967, Jordan had occupied the West Bank and Egypt had occupied the Gaza Strip; their presence in those territories was the result of their illegal invasion in 1948, in defiance of the UN Security Council. Jordan's 1950 annexation of the West Bank was recognized only by Great Britain (excluding the annexation of Jerusalem) and Pakistan, and rejected by the vast majority of the international community, including the Arab states. Where was the international outrage then?
See, folks, the current territorial dispute is contrived by the myth of an Israeli decision "to occupy," rather than the reality of a result of a war imposed on Israel by a coalition of Arab states in 1967.
The truth is Arabs are the singular instigators of this longest running war against the Jews, this war of hatred perpetrated upon Jews since the first wave of anti-Jewish riots in 1920-21 (which was characterized by the brutal murder in Jaffa of the prominent Jewish author Y. Brenner), during the 'Disturbances' of 1929 (which included the massacre of the Jewish community in Hebron), during the Arab Revolt of 1936-39, and in many other recorded incidents of wholesale anti-Jewish Arab violence throughout the pre-state period.
In 1929, Arabs shot and murdered 66 innocent Jewish men, women and children while praying in a synagogue in Hebron. On August 23rd, 1929, the Grand Mufti preached to a crowd fomenting them into a cauldron of hate, viciousness and cruelty and charged them with their holy mission: "Itbah al-Yahud!" - "Slaughter the Jew!" and that's what Arabs have been doing to Jews for almost a century.
And all this occurred before there was an "occupation". The politically-loaded term "occupied territories" or "occupation" seems to apply only to Israel and is hardly ever used when other territorial disputes are discussed, especially by interested third parties. For example, the U.S. Department of State refers to Kashmir as "disputed areas." Similarly in its Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, the State Department describes the patch of Azerbaijan claimed as an independent republic by indigenous Armenian separatists as "the disputed area of Nagorno-Karabakh."
The often-repeated Arab claim that the Israeli 'occupation' is somehow to blame for the Palestinian terrorism is nothing more than an empty retort, repudiated by the facts, and disproved by a century of historical reality.
In 1956, Israel invaded the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Desert, both of which were held by Egypt, because Arab terrorists were infiltrating into Israel from the Gaza Strip and killing Jewish children in elementary schools. By infiltrating those territories, Israel cut the Gaza Strip off from Egypt, stopped the terrorism, and ensured that the Suez Canal and Straits of Tiran would be open to Israeli shipping - something the Egyptians tried to deny.
Since the Palestinians refused to make peace with Israel even when they were offered the entire Gaza Strip and most of the "West Bank" in 2000, it is clear that just handing them territory is not going to solve any problems.
Do not become like the 193 zombies and illiterates listed below, who are too uneducated, too cowardly, too mendacious, too uncivilized to know the real truth.
