The Hamas Interest in the Tahdiya (Temporary Truce) with Israel

We can deconstruct the myth of Muslim moderates when researching the Muslim enemy's modus operandi on how it defrauds and stalks its Jewish prey. Via JCPA:
Hamas regards the temporary cease-fire as a tahdiya and not a hudna. A tahdiya - "a period of calm" - is used by Hamas to describe a simple cease-fire. A hudna implies recognition of the other party's actual existence, without acknowledging its legitimacy.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera (April 26, 2008), Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal clarified that for Hamas, a tahdiya is "a tactic in conflict management." He added that it "is not unusual for the resistance...to escalate sometimes and to retreat a bit sometimes as the tide does....The tahdiya creates a formulation that will force Israel...to remove the siege...and if it happens it will be a remarkable achievement."

Official sources in Israel have explained that Hamas' interest in a lull in the fighting is a result of its "distress." But the organization did not experience "distress." Hamas has introduced and maintained law and order in Gaza, strengthened its overall control, suppressed opposition, and achieved broad popular support for its policies.

An important objective for Hamas is winning the Palestinian presidential election, which will be held when Mahmoud Abbas finishes his term of office in December. The lull will permit Hamas to prepare the field to take over from Abbas. Hamas is liable to claim that, according to Palestinian law, administrative authority should be passed on to the chairman of the parliament, who is a Hamas leader, or should be decided by the parliament itself, where Hamas has an overwhelming majority.

One diplomatic consequence of the tahdiya will be increasing pressure on Israel to accept a future reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah. That could lead to increasing demands on Israel to negotiate a permanent status arrangement with a joint Hamas-Fatah government, while Hamas remains committed to its political program of the elimination of Israel.

The cease-fire also grants Hamas a golden opportunity to expand its military build-up for the next round of terror and violence. Emulating Hizbullah's strategy, Hamas is striving to acquire longer-range and more destructive missiles to be used for deterrence and as a sword on Israel's neck.

Palestinians Have Avoided Opportunities for Statehood

Just repeating the facts that prove Palestinian Arabs have never wanted peace with Israel. From Palestinians Have Avoided Opportunities for Statehood:

The Palestinians [Arabs], backed and at times manipulated by the Arab world, have done nearly everything possible to avoid setting up their own state. They:

1) rejected UN Resolution 181 in 1947 and attacked Israel, thereby precipitating war and exile.

2) They avoided creating a state in the West Bank and Gaza between 1949 and 1967,

3) created UNRWA which perpetuated rather than solved their refugee problem,

4) rejected Egypt and Israel's offer of autonomy in 1978,

5) jailed at state-building under Oslo after 1993,

6) invoked suicide terrorism that alienated some of their most ardent Israeli supporters, and

7) failed again at consolidating the territorial foundations of a state after Israel withdrew unilaterally from Gaza in 2005.

Olmert: No Gaza Truce If Israeli Soldier Is Not Released

From Olmert: No Gaza Truce If Israeli Soldier Is Not Released:
Israel will not agree to an Egyptian proposal for a truce in Gaza unless it includes the issue of arms smuggling and the release of abducted Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told visiting Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman on Monday. "Hamas must not only halt its attacks but also the arms smuggling that has allowed the group to turn itself from a ragtag militia into a well-armed force," Israeli officials told Suleiman.

6.5 Tons of Potassium Nitrate Used for Terror Discovered in Sugar Bags Marked as EU Assistance [Caught at "poorpalestinianhumiliating" checkpoint]

Now released for publication: In a joint IDF and ISA operation several weeks ago, a truck was caught at one of the crossing points in Judea and Samaria carrying approximately 6.5 tons of Potassium Nitrate. The Potassium Nitrate was disguised in sugar bags, and was intended for use by Muslim terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

Potassium Nitrate is a banned substance in the Gaza Strip and the Judea and Samaria region due to its use by Muslim terrorists for the manufacturing of explosives and Qassam rockets.

The terror organizations disguised the Potassium Nitrate in sugar bags that were marked as being part of the humanitarian aid provided by the European Union. This is another example of how the terror organizations exploit the humanitarian aid that is delivered to the poorpalestinian population in the Gaza Strip with Israel's approval.

Murderers

From PA Police Murdered Israeli in West Bank on Nov. 19:
The Israel Defense Forces has arrested the Palestinians believed responsible for the shooting incident in which Ido Zoldan, 29, was killed on Nov. 19 in the West Bank. Zoldan, a resident of Shavei Shomron, was driving toward Karnei Shomron when gunmen in a passing vehicle opened fire, critically wounding him. According to information released for publication Sunday, the attack was carried out by three Palestinians, members of the Palestinian National Security force. Two are brothers, Dafer and Abdullah Birham, members of Fatah and serving in National Security in Ramallah. The two said Fadi Jama', also in the National Security force, gave them the weapons they used in the attack.
The murderers should be gutted and hung upside down, like the animals that they are.

arabs demand Israel stop building in Jerusalem, too

The Muslim thieves want it all. From IMRA via The Guardian and Israel Today:
Top palestinian Muslim negotiator says that demand for halt to all "settlement" activity includes residential building projects in Jerusalem.

[Dr. Aaron Lerner - IMRA: With the exception of Israel Channel Two correspondent Ehud Yaari, this demand has received little - if any - coverage.]

DON’T PROMOTE A STATE FOR pALESTINIANS WHILE THEIR 10 COMMANDMENTS PROMOTE TERRORISM AND ISRAEL’S DESTRUCTION

Forwarded by Women in Green:
The following is from an advertisement posted by the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), both in the NEW YORK TIMES and in HAARETZ, in Israel. The NY Times addressed Secretary Rice, and the Israeli version was directed to Prime Minister Olmert:

DON’T PROMOTE A STATE FOR PALESTINIANS WHILE THEIR 10 COMMANDMENTS PROMOTE TERRORISM AND ISRAEL’S DESTRUCTION

Just read these 10 articles in Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian Fatah Constitution:

Article (22)
Opposing any political solution offered as an alternative to demolishing the Zionist occupation in Palestine...

Article (12)
Complete liberation of Palestine, and eradication of Zionist economic, political, military and cultural existence

Article (19)
Armed struggle is a strategy and not a tactic, and the Palestinian Arab People’s armed revolution is a decisive factor in the liberation fight and in uprooting the Zionist existence, and this struggle will not cease unless the Zionist state is demolished and Palestine is completely liberated.

Article (17)
Armed public revolution is the inevitable method to liberating Palestine.

Article (23)
Maintaining relations with Arab countries… with the proviso that the armed struggle is not negatively affected.

Article (8)
The Israeli existence in Palestine is a Zionist invasion with a colonial expansive base, and it is a natural ally to colonialism and international imperialism.

Article (7)
The Zionist movement is racial, colonial and aggressive in ideology, goals, organization and method.

Article (24)
Maintaining relations with all liberal forces supporting our just struggle in order to resist together Zionism and imperialism.

Article (4)
The Palestinian struggle is part and parcel of the world-wide struggle against Zionism, colonialism and international imperialism.

Article (25)
Convincing concerned countries in the world to prevent Jewish immigration to Palestine as a method of solving the problem.

NOW YOU SEE why Palestinian Arab statehood should not be promoted at the November Mideast Conference. Nor should the U.S. give any more funding to the palestinians; we’ve given them well over a billion dollars already. And Israel should not be asked to make any more concessions to the palestinian Arabs.

Mahmoud Abbas is chairman of the ruling Fatah party and president of the Palestinian Authority (PA). Before discussions begin at the November conference, Abbas must first change his pro-terrorist and genocidal constitution against Israel, and fulfill the palestinians’ commitments under the Oslo and Road-Map agreements – including arresting terrorists, confiscating terrorist weapons, and ending the incitement of hatred and murder in the PA-controlled media, mosques, schools and youth camps.

Osama Bin-Laden and Hamas would be proud of Abbas’ Fatah Constitution. No wonder R. James Woolsey, former CIA Director; Rudy Giuliani, former New York City Mayor; and General Moshe Ya’alon, former head of the Israeli Defense Forces, all agree: This is no time to discuss a palestinian state. President Bush said that we need to end terrorist states. We dare not create a new one in the Middle East.

In the United States:

In Israel:

URGE THEM TO DEMAND THAT ABBAS’ FATAH CONSTITUTION BE CHANGED. AND TELL THEM THAT THE LAST THING THE WORLD NEEDS IS ANOTHER TERRORIST STATE IN THE MIDDLE EAST!

Annapolis is a no-win situation

Received by email from www.IsraPundit.com:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Invitations are going out today.
But to what?
To start with you must understand “War And Peace In The Law Of Islam”
I explained why Islamic “peace” and Israel are mutually exclusive.
So if real peace isn't the object of the exercise, what is? Annapolis is about wiping Israel off the face of the map
To better understand the the Arab viewpoint I posted an open letter from Palestinian Organization in Canada to Mamoud Abbas under the title Can you believe this shit
"Such a redefinition leads the Palestinians into the trap of the “two-state” formula which subverts our legitimate rights under international law. We stress that the central issue in the Palestinian conflict with Israel has always been the dispossession of the Palestinian people from their land and property caused by the Zionist ethnic cleansing of 1948 and the Israeli denial to Palestinians of the basic human right to return and to live in peace and security as equal citizens on their land. We further specifically caution you against any recognition of Israel as a “Jewish” state. Such a recognition would give Israel the façade of moral and legal legitimacy while critically compromising the full implementation of the inalienable Palestinian right of return. "
Fatah Policemen in Gaza "Defect to Al-Qaeda"
Oh, those "peaceful palestinians". You just want to - vomit. h/t Daily Alert. From Fatah Policemen in Gaza "Defect to Al-Qaeda":
Scores of Fatah policemen who used to serve in the PA security forces in Gaza and who recently lost their jobs have now joined the al-Qaeda-affiliated Army of Islam, sources in the Hamas-controlled Interior Ministry said Thursday. The Army of Islam is headed by Abu Muhammad al-Ansari, also known as Mumtaz Dughmush.
A former PA Preventive Security Service officer, Ansari belongs to the Dughmush clan, whose members have kidnapped several foreign nationals, including BBC reporter Alan Johnston, and bombed Internet cafes, hair salons and restaurants.
The Army of Islam participated in the kidnapping of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit in June 2006, along with Hamas and the Popular Resistance Committees.
After Hamas took over Gaza, the Army of Islam struck a deal permitting the group to retain its weapons on condition they only be used to attack Israel.
Over the past few months, the Army of Islam has been involved in the smuggling of large amounts of weapons and explosives into Gaza from Sinai, according to PA security officials, who said members of the group had established close ties with al-Qaeda operatives in Egypt and other Arab and Islamic countries.
Report: PA Seizes Rockets Near Jerusalem
You know that "land for peace" mantra sung by leftists? It's all a scam. From Report: PA Seizes Rockets Near Jerusalem:
Palestinian security forces on Wednesday uncovered two rockets ready to be launched in the town of Beit Jala near Jerusalem, the Ma'an news agency reported. A large amount of explosives were also discovered. The commander of the Palestinian security forces in Bethlehem said the rockets were a meter-and-a-half long and carried the words "Allah hu akbar."
Demonstration Today
Dear Friends of Israel ,
The time has come to wake up and shout!
WOMEN IN GREEN CALL UPON EVERYONE TO COME WEDNESDAY EVENING, September 19,2007
AND PROTEST THE TREACHEROUS AGREEMENT BEING SECRETLY CONCOCTED BY OLMERT AND ABBAS
WHEN: at 7:00pm
WHERE: PARIS SQUARE , NEXT TO THE PM's RESIDENCE IN JERUSALEM WHEN PM OLMERT WILL BE HOSTING CONDOLEEZZA RICE FOR DINNER
SHOFAR BLOWERS ARE ASKED TO BRING SHOFARS
------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ----
As you might have heard, Condoleezza Rice is coming to Israel, Wednesday, to continue and push the secret agreement being concocted by PM Ehud Olmert and PLO Chief Abu Mazzen, in preparation for the November suicide summit in the USA .
According to media leaks the two have already signed a eight point document which basically calls for the creation of a PLO state in all of Judea and Samaria , the destruction of over 95% of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria , the division of Jerusalem and the handing over of the Temple Mount to the PLO. Details of the agreement can be found on the following Arab website (Sadly the Maan website has received the exclusive document and we therefore are forced to refer you to their viciously anti-Jewish website which has been the source for all other news agencies:
http://www.maannews.net/he/index.php?opr=ShowDetails&ID=11963
In addition to organizing a demonstration, Women in Green is putting the following front-page ad in today's Jerusalem Post:
EHUD OLMERT,
ISRAEL IS NOT YOUR PRIVATE REAL ESTATE!
CONDOLEEZZA RICE,
KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF THE LAND OF ISRAEL !
In the words of Israel 's first Prime Minister,David Ben Gurion:
“No Jew is at liberty to surrender the right of the Jewish Nation and the Land of Israel to exist. No Jewish body is sanctioned to do so. No Jew alive today has the authority to yield any piece of land whatsoever. This right is preserved by the Jewish people throughout the generations and cannot be forfeited under any circumstance. Even if at some given time there will be those who declare that they are relinquishing this right, they have neither the power nor the jurisdiction to negate it for future generations to come. The Jewish Nation is neither obligated by nor responsible for any waiver such as this. Our right to this land, in its entirety, is steadfast inalienable and eternal. And until the coming of the Great Redemption, we shall never yield this historic right.”
Speech to the 21st Zionist congress, Basel , 1937.
Could Ben Gurion possibly have foreseen that 70 years after the 21st Zionist Congress there would be an Israeli prime minister willing TO SURRENDER THE RIGHT OF THE JEWISH NATION AND THE LAND OF ISRAEL TO EXIST, all in order to hold on to his seat of power and to escape legal difficulties regarding his own questionable real estate dealings?
We, the Jewish People, will not allow OLMERT to barter away our G-d-given heritage.
EHUD OLMERT AND CONDOLEEZZA RICE, REMEMBER G-D’S PROMISE TO ABRAHAM:
“I WILL BLESS THOSE WHO BLESS YOU AND HIM WHO CURSES YOU I WILL CURSE” (Genesis 12:3)
PRESS RELEASE  RICE VISIT 18/9/07
JEWS SAY NO TO SECOND MUNICH CONFERENCE PLANNED FOR NOVEMBER
In 1938, the quartet of European powers held a peace conference in Munich and came away congratulating themselves for having achieved “peace for our time.” The Munich Agreement sacrificed Czechoslovakia to appease Hitler, but they regarded the betrayal as a small price to pay to avoid war in the rest of Europe . Their Realpolitik led directly to World War II and the death of 70 million people.
Just as surely as the appeasement of Hitler precipitated WWII, so will the appeasement of the Arabs planned for this November lead to World War III. And once again, the Jews will be the primary victims.
Whereas the allied powers couldn't have guessed the extremity of Hitler’s designs, our leaders have no such excuse. The only honest conclusion twelve years after the Oslo Accords were signed is that the Arabs want war not peace. The Arabs’ sole and consistent purpose remains the destruction of Israel . Therefore, ongoing peace negotiations have nothing to do with peace.
After 9/11 publicized the exponential growth of a radicalized Islam whose goal is world domination, it should be abundantly clear that what’s true for Israel is true for the West. It should be clear that what Arafat started with the full support of the Arab world, is being continued by Iran , Saudi Arabia , and other Arab states -- whether covertly or overtly.
History sometimes arrives at climactic junctures that are followed by a point of no return. Once crossed, the momentum leading to disaster becomes unstoppable. We fear that the second Munich conference being planned for this November is such a juncture.
Israel ’s leadership has lost all sense of national responsibility and accountability as it rushes heedlessly down this path. It doesn't represent the interests of the Jewish people or the Jewish State, but submits willingly to foreign interests and pressures. It has become the accomplice of Israel ’s enemies in securing the enemy’s goals.
The public has no faith in the Olmert government, but also has no power to democratically influence the government’s actions. We therefore place the Olmert government on notice that neither the Jewish people nor the citizens of Israel are bound by the diplomatic acts of their leaders. In the words of David Ben Gurion:
“No Jew is at liberty to surrender the right of the Jewish Nation and the Land of Israel to exist. No Jewish body is sanctioned to do so. No Jew alive today has the authority to yield any piece of land whatsoever. This right is preserved by the Jewish people throughout the generations and cannot be forfeited under any circumstance. Even if at some given time there will be those who declare that they are relinquishing this right, they have neither the power nor the jurisdiction to negate it for future generations to come. The Jewish Nation is neither obligated by nor responsible for any waiver such as this. Our right to this land, in its entirety, is steadfast inalienable and eternal.”
(Speech to the 21st Zionist congress, Basel, 1937.)
In the same spirit we declare that we do not recognize or accept this government’s right to dismember the country, destroy cities and towns, exile and render homeless hundreds of thousands of Jews, steal their assets and livelihood, and pauperize them as they did to the loyal citizens of Gush Katif. We do not recognize or accept this government’s right to give away our Biblical heartland to a fictitious people for a fictitious state. We do not recognize its right to annul the prophecies of the Bible which were fulfilled by the Jews’ return to Zion , nor do we recognize its power to use the Zionist enterprise to dispossess the Jews of their homeland.
When governments become tyrants, the people have the right to resist; when a government becomes a cancer that turns against its citizens to destroy all that it is meant to protect, the people have the moral obligation to resist.
We therefore call upon all the citizens of Israel and Jews worldwide to denounce and renounce this government of fools and rogues and to take action necessary to save the land and people of Israel.
Today in Jewish History - Elul 27
Sponsored by Aish.com:
In 1993, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian Chairman Yasser Arafat shook hands on the White House lawn, signaling the start of a peace process known as the Oslo Accords. Israel agreed to transfer autonomy to the Palestinians, in exchange for a cessation of violence. However, Palestinian terrorists carried out a spate of bus bombings and roadside shootings throughout the 1990s. In July 2000, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak attempted to reach a final agreement, offering the Palestinians 93 percent of the territories -- later upped to 99 percent -- but Arafat balked. As U.S. chief negotiator Dennis Ross would later explain: "Arafat could not accept [the offer]... because when the conflict ends, the cause that defines Arafat also ends." Instead, the Palestinians launched a terror war, known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada, which claimed the lives of over 1,000 Israelis and 4,000 Palestinians.
Appearance is Everything
From the Gloria Center:
US Secretary of State Condolleeza Rice has now completed her four day trip to the Middle East. Dr. Rice was evidently well-pleased at what she found, describing herself as "impressed by the seriousness of (Olmert and Abbas) to really advance this two state solution." A number of commentators have remarked on the similarity between the current moment and the days of the Oslo peace process. A notable difference, however, is that during Oslo one had the sense that the protagonists, or at least some of them, really believed they were on the way to making peace in the Middle East. This time around, the whole thing has a strained, slightly unreal sense to it. What lies behind this?
An Obsession with Palestine
From An Obsession with Palestine:
Egypt has been at peace with Israel for 28 years. For the past 25 years, Egyptians have had the same president, who has never visited Israel - just the tip of the iceberg known as the "cold peace" between the two countries. We have subsumed so much into the Palestinian cause, channeling efforts that should have gone into development into a near obsession with Palestine, for little apparent good. Why has time stood still for the Arab world? The Syrian town of Kuneitra is exactly as it was when it was destroyed after the 1967 war with Israel, untouched so that we never forget. Yet how many German cities, almost leveled during World War II, have been rebuilt and are thriving again? It's time to move on.
A president who does not represent the people: Peres: Time to sever Israel's biblical heartland
What a detestable bastard. In his inauguration speech, Israel's 9th president pushes his vision of peace, which makes no room for Jews in Judea and Samaria. From President Peres: Time to sever Israel's biblical heartland:
Just hours before being sworn in as Israel's ninth president on Sunday, Shimon Peres said the time had come for his nation to surrender its biblical heartland in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) to the Palestinian Arabs.
“We have to get rid of the territories,” Peres said in an interview with The Associated Press. The elder statesman insisted, contrary to recent opinion polls, that an overwhelming majority of Israelis agree with him on this issue.
In his inauguration speech later in the evening, Peres expounding upon his vision of peace for the Middle East, but Israel National News pointed out that he did not once mention ongoing Arab terrorism against the Jewish state that has made the conclusion of any peace deal impossible.
Despite filling a largely ceremonial role, an Israeli diplomatic source told The Jerusalem Post that Peres can be expected to continue behaving like a “one-man foreign ministry” as he works to forward his own agenda.
"Peace Now" Protests For a Jew-Free Hebron
It is outrageous in the extreme that the world would accept a scheme that would permit Arabs to have an ethnically cleansed continent where no Jews can live, but that's exactly what the misanthropes at Peace Now endeavor for. They want all of Hebron Jew-free. What they don't realize is that Hebron was already Jewish when Europe was still a swamp. Just as Germans can live in France and French in Germany, Jews should be able to remain in Hebron and Gaza as Arabs remain in Jaffa and their Galilee villages.
It's hardly irrational that Jews should want to live in Hebron or in Jerusalem or near the Wailing Wall or other sites of great importance in Jewish history and religion, particularly given how poorly Muslims have treated such sites.
Peace Now, a left-wing group founded to bring about Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon, but expanded to work toward a withdrawal from all areas won by Israel in the 1967 Six Day War held a protest in Hevron earlier this month. The protest, in the heart of the tiny Jewish quarter of the city, featured large signs demanding the Jews be barred from living in the city of the Patriarchs.
The local community, by and large, chose to ignore the protest, saying the group's aim was to draw them into confrontations it could then use to justify Peace Now's provocations - but several activist groups from outside Hevron came to counter Peace Now's message.
Women in Green, Tzafrir Ronen's Nahalal Forum and Kumah all turned up with signs and activists to say that Jewish life in Hevron is a positive thing, which should be expanded and allowed to flourish. Peace Now protestors led chants like "We don't want to die in vain, make peace now!" and "Hevron settlers - a bone in the throat."
Women in Green's Nadia Matar pointed out that Peace Now is heavily funded by the same European Union that is soft on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Kim M., a student at a Christian university in Pennsylvania, observed the Peace Now protest from the side. "I've only been in Palestine for a few days," she said. "And I'm still trying to figure everything out." Kim wore a CPT (Christian Peacemaker Teams) hat; she was part of a tour organized by the radical Christian group. Other CPT members stood aside and opined that the Jewish Peace Now protestors still insist on occupying pre-1967 Israel as well, "stolen from the Palestinians in 1948."
Being Christian doesn't authorize you to determine for me and my people where we live and where our borders are, CPT. Those days are over. If you're going to be realistic, then arrange to reinstate Jewish citizenship in Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Lybia, Tunisia, Algeria, & Morocco. Invite the Jews back to all those countries, and restore their rightful property. Be true to your words and lead the way, Christian.
Click here to read how Peace Now lies and fabricates history. Please note that it was the Israeli leftist Yigal Tumarkin, a founder of Peace Now, who disclosed: "When I see the black-coated haredim with the children they spawn, I can understand the Holocaust."
Waiting Until It's Safe
From Waiting Until It's Safe:
The events in Gaza reinforce a truth about much of the so-called human rights community: they care when the villain is Israel, but are indifferent to acts of violence committed by Palestinians against Palestinians. The seizure of Gaza by Hamas is the final happening in a chain of events that began with the Oslo Accords in 1993. Israel opted to give the Palestine Liberation Organization - the Fatah faction - authority over Gaza and much of the West Bank in the hope that Yasser Arafat and his henchmen would crack down on Hamas. Arafat never complied, and Fatah focused on building personal villas on the Mediterranean Sea instead of building a nation.
Arabs uproot 100s of Jewish trees and grape vines in Gush Etzion
Death is the Arab's master. From Israel National News:
Residents of the Gush Etzion hilltop community of Sde Boaz had hundreds of grape vines and scores of fruit trees uprooted and destroyed Friday. The latest vandalism, though the most costly yet, is just the latest in a string of attacks on the community’s property.
The agricultural, eco-friendly community, located about a mile north of the town of Neve Daniel, was victim to a similar attack on the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shvat earlier this year, when one of its orchards was destroyed.
Residents of the agricultural community said that in addition to the destruction of the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards and fruit trees Friday, expensive irrigation systems were damaged and stolen as well. The Arab Muslim vandals used donkeys to plow under the hundreds of vines and uproot the fruit trees. “This carob tree was planted so our grandchildren could eat of its fruits,” said resident Gideon Kelman, holding the broken remains one of the slow-growing trees. “They have destroyed that.”
Amit Barak, a native of the Galilee city of Nazereth and now in charge of security in Sde Boaz, said that the entire incident happened during a three-hour window period Friday morning. “Someone went down this morning to prune his vines and everything was fine, and then, just a few hours after he finished, we noticed everything had been destroyed.” The vineyards and fruits trees were located on terraces lower down on the unfenced community’s hillside that cannot be seen from the community itself, where the IDF and residents conduct regular patrols.
Arabs and leftists, including ISM and Peace Now, have been frequenting the vicinity on almost a weekly basis since the initial attack on the community’s orchard. That attack took place in a valley below the community as residents stood by peacefully on the Sabbath of Tu B’Shvat, refusing to respond to the provocations by the crowd of foreign activists, who later attacked IDF soldiers attempting to carry out an arrest.
Last week, foreign activists, at least one claiming to be a journalist, engaged residents in an hours-long discussion regarding Jewish rights to live in Judea, Samaria and Israel as a whole. The foreigners, from the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), Palestine Solidarity Movement (PSM), Taayush and other groups, claimed to be on a fact-finding tour and were accompanied by local Arab handlers.
“Every time we take the high road when dealing with leftist provocations, we pay for it soon after,” said one resident who declined to have his name published. “The Arabs they bring with them are emboldened by what they view as our powerlessness and the clear message projected by the police – that it is open season on Jews and their property. When they turn on the radio and hear our Defense Minister [Amir Peretz] talking about how the Jews in Hevron’s Peace House don’t have the right to be in a building they paid $700,000 for – and they take it as a cue to attack us and grab state land - land that belongs to Jews and is being systematically grabbed by the PLO.”
Incidentally, at roughly the same time Friday as the most recent destruction took place, a left-wing/Arab protest against the Partition Wall took place at the nearby Arab village of Um Salamuna, west of the town of Efrat. At the protest, one of the main handlers hosting international activists in the village of Beit Omar was arrested.
