[Ukraine] sizable pro-Israel rally in Kiev

8,000 turn up in pro-Israel rally in Kiev

On July 24, a Ukraine Against Terror rally, aimed at supporting Israel’s anti-terror operation in the Middle East and initiated by Ukraine’s Jewish community and Ukrainian Jewish organizations, took place near People’s Friendship Arch in Kiev. As a REGNUM correspondent reports, according to law-enforcement institutions, about 8,000 people, including representatives of Jewish community from all Ukrainian regions, rallied there, waving Israeli flags, blue and yellow balloons, as well as slogans to support Israel. The action was attended by Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Naomi Ben-Ami and head of all-Ukrainian Jewish Congress.

Besides that, anti-war committee is picketing today Israeli Embassy in Kiev, requesting to stop hostilities in Lebanon and Palestine. Several tens of activists, who are wearing Palestinian kerchiefs, hold flags of left organizations and anti-war slogans. The protesters announce their readiness to picket the embassy until the hostilities in Lebanon are over.
