The Israeli-Palestinian conflict wasn't even mentioned in last week's presidential debate and has been little discussed during the campaign. "They're not anxious to spend a lot of effort debating it because it's not on the agenda for the American public," said Shibley Telhami, a Middle East specialist at the University of Maryland. Public attention to the conflict has faded and today the focus of Americans' attention in the Middle East has shifted to Iraq and the fight against terrorism. Both Bush and Kerry mentioned Israel in the debate, but only in the context of Iraq. The Palestinians weren't mentioned.
Perhaps that's because "palestine" is not a real nation and has always been a manufactured entity.
