Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz stated Wednesday that reports that Israel Air Force jets had fired shots at a German ship were completely untrue. The Germany daily Der Tagesspiegel quoted a junior German Defense Ministry official as telling a parliamentary committee that two Israeli F-16 fighters flew low over a German navy vessel off the Lebanese coast and fired two shots.
Several days ago a German helicopter took off from a warship off the Lebanese coast in an area where, according to agreements, it had to inform Israel of the flight.
