Dubai is a coastal area on the Persian Gulf. It is one of the seven emirates that comprise the United Arab Emirates, which is located on the Gulf, between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The UAE is among the smaller Arab states. With an area of 83,000 sq. km, it is slightly smaller than the State of Maine but almost four times the size of the State of Israel. It’s population is only about 2.5 million, of which more than half are non-nationals.
Three of the September 11 hijackers came from the UAE.
