National Responsibility Party

Folks, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has asked President Moshe Katsav today to dissolve the Knesset, just hours after he sent shockwaves across the political system with his decision to quit the Likud and form a new centrist party, the National Responsibility Party.

Sharon added that his new party would adhere to the road map peace plan, and fight a non-stop battle against terrorism. He stressed that there would not be any further unilateral withdrawals.

Eleven Likud ministers officially joined the new party, signing letters saying that they quit the Likud and joined the party called The National Responsibility.

The eleven MKs were Sharon, his son Omri Sharon, Vice Premier Ehud Olmert, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Transportation Minister Meir Sheetrit, Internal Security Minister Gideon Ezra, Tourism Minister Avraham Hirchson, Ruhama Avraham, Eli Aflalo, Ze'ev Boim and Marina Solodkin.

A twelfth MK, Majallie Whbee also announced that he was quitting the Likud to join Sharon, although he had not yet signed the letter officializing it since he was abroad in Morocco.
