In the Hebrew year 2448 (1312 BCE), the day after the making of the Golden Calf, Moses burned the Calf, crushed it into powder, mixed it with water, and had the Jewish people drink it. The next morning, those who had embraced the Calf were found dead, their bellies miraculously swollen from the water.
