Two (18 yr old) arab Murderers Confess to Last Night's Murder of Israeli Citizen

In a joint IDF and ISA operation, the two Palestinian suspects of the murder of the Israeli civilian yesterday evening were arrested in the following hours. The two are Mudar Mussa Ahmed Abu Dia and Mussa Adam Salem Ah'lil.

In their investigation, the two admitted that the motive for the murder was based on religious grounds.

Yesterday evening, February 25th 2007, the body of Erez Lebanon, a resident of the Israeli community of Bat Ayin, was found stabbed in a wadi near the community. Erez Lebanon was father to three children.

According to intelligence information indicating the involvement of the two Palestinians in the murder, IDF and ISA forces arrested them several hours after the body was found, in the village of Beit Ummar, south of Bethlehem.The two murderers, about 18 years old, residents of the village of Safa, near the village of Beit Ummar, were taken for questioning by security forces.

In searches in the village of Beit Ummar by IDF forces earlier today, the burnt vehicle of the murdered Israeli citizen was found, and transferred to the Israeli Police.

In their investigation, the two confessed the murder. They claimed of previous planning, which included preceding patrols in the area of the attack.

On the day of the attack, the two left their village armed with knives. As they spotted the victim, they ambushed and stabbed him to death.

Cleared for publication: Intelligence information attained by defense establishment indicates Erez Levanon was murdered Sunday night by two Palestinians hiding in building in village of Beit Omar, not far from scene of stabbing.
